Black Dynamite (2009)

Goofs

Black Dynamite

Edit

Continuity

When Black Dynamite is shot in the shoulder and goes to the hospital, the doctor clearly says, "No fragments, in and out - you're very lucky, BD," indicating that the bullet went right through Black Dynamite. However he is only bandaged at the entry point of the bullet and there is no exit wound on his back.
In the diner, Black Dynamite writes "M&Ms" on the black board, but later on the second "M" looks more like a squiggle and there is no "s" at the end.

Factual errors

In another nod to blaxploitation films, when Black Dynamite enters Jimmy's apartment finding it ransacked and is attacked by the Heavy Hitters; Black Dynamite fires eighteen shots from a six shot revolver.
In the animated closing credits, Bokeem Woodbine's character name is listed as Black Hand Jack. The character is actually Back Hand Jack.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Black Dynamite is talking to Honey Bee, a tear running down Honey Bee's face disappears and reappears from shot to shot. This is deliberately mocking the lack of continuity shown by many of the movies that this film parodies.
When Cream Corn runs away from Black Dynamite from the barbershop, his boots turn from high heeled to flat bottomed, back to high heeled again. This is a parody of poorly edited blaxploitation films.

Revealing mistakes

One of the Heavy Hitters gets his car door stuck in the grass outside Jimmy's apartment as he attempts to drive off after ambushing Black Dynamite. This was not intentional; it was an actual mistake made by the actor, but the filmmakers left it in because they thought it was funny.

Miscellaneous

When the hitters ambush Black Dynamite at Roscoe's, the driver fails to engage the parking brake on the car. This is one of the few gaffes in the film that wasn't intentional.

Anachronisms

The area code for Topeka, Kansas didn't become 785 until 1996.
Although most goofs are intentional, the movie's time period predates some of the weapons and helicopters shown.
The "ribbed" look of Dynamite's car top.

Boom mic visible

The boom microphone is visible several times on the top of the frame. Yet in the case of this movie, the mic being visible is a joke meant to parody the lack of film production expertise on the sets of the original "blaxploitation" movies that this movie is referencing.

Character error

In the diner scene, on the blackboard with the day's specials, scrambled is misspelled as "scrambed" and specials is written as "special's".
Cream Corn says that the Staff of Aesculapius has a pair of snakes intertwining around it. When that is actually the Caduceus that has a pair of snakes while Aesculapius staff has a single snake wrapped around it. Both of which are used in the medical field.
