Rose Byrne and Hugh Dancy in Adam (2009)

FAQ

Adam

FAQ

No one has answered this question yet.

No. Adam is based on a screenplay by Max Mayer, who also directed the movie. Mayer says that he was inspired to write the screenplay after listening to a man with Asperger's syndrome being interviewed on National Public Radio.

Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder in which the individual finds it hard to connect with other people because of difficulties in social interactions and limited skill in nonverbal communications and empathy. Linguistic and cognitive functions, however, are usually within normal limits. Asperger syndrome was named after Hans Asperger, an Austrian pediatrician who identified the syndrome in 1944. For more information about Asperger syndrome, see here.

Two movies that have protagonists with Asperger's include Mozart and the Whale (2005) (2005) and the Belgian movie Ben X (2007) (2007). Other films about Asperger's syndrome are mentioned here.
