Jin’s Rock-Star Dreams Are Big and Bold on ‘Echo’
Image
Jin has always been his own kind of romantic within the BTS universe, with his own style. This is the guy you go to for epic swoon-worthy love songs about space travel through the cosmos of the heart, in classics like “Epiphany” and “Moon.” (Especially “Moon.”) He summed up his sound with his official solo debut single “The Astronaut,” his 2022 duet with Coldplay, where he kept hitting high notes from outer space. (But still — especially “Moon.” What a song, right?) Jin pushes his signature style even further with Echo, his new 7-song EP,...

After Tony Gilroy’s Andor, It’s Time to Revisit Zack Snyder’s R-Rated Star Wars Idea That Didn’t Happen
Image
Zack Snyder’s R-rated Star Wars film eventually came to be Rebel Moon, a wholly new IP that the Man of Steel director ended up creating for Netflix. Snyder pitched his vision for the galaxy far, far away, and specifically wanted the project to be R-rated.

Snyder’s version of the story took inspiration from Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, which is a classic cinematic experience that has since become pretty iconic as a stock plot in a lot of shows and films.

Given that George Lucas also took inspiration from Kurosawa’s samurai films, it only made sense for Snyder to look to these films to inspire his take on the Star Wars franchise. However, that was never meant to be given that Disney had just purchased the IP, and was still figuring out what direction they would like to go with it.

An R-rated Star Wars project might...

Marvel star rules out Avengers: Doomsday appearance: 'I'm not involved in that'
Image
Before the premiere of Avengers: Endgame, everyone hoped that the crossover would reunite every single hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (including those who were turned to dust). Fortunately, the Russo Brothers delivered on that promise and created one of the most ambitious superhero projects that still lives rent-free in our minds more than six years later. But now that it's nearly time for the next big chapter in the saga, we need to ask ourselves: How do you craft a sequel to such a beloved movie as Endgame? By going bigger, of course.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to feature more beloved characters than ever before, as revealed by the casting announcement. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean every single MCU hero will make it in time to fight the ruler of Latveria. Moon Knight is rumored to be skipping on the adventure altogether, while reports have suggested even Spider-Man might not...

‘Seedpeople’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Sam Hennings, Andrea Roth, Dane Witherspoon, Bernard Kates, Holly Fields, John Mooney, Anne Betancourt | Written by Charles Band, Jackson Barr | Directed by Peter Manoogian

Released during the high point in Full Moon’s relationship with Paramount Pictures, Seedpeople was heavily advertised on its original UK release back in 1992, with ads appearing in many of the horror magazines of the period – including full page ads on the back and inside cover of The Dark Side (which ran for months on end I recall). The film itself wasn’t as successful as the other notable franchises in the Full Moon stable, with many reviews at the time noting that the film was a rip-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and essentially that’s what the movie is: a tongue-in-cheek alien invasion flick that echoes the feel of low-budget sci-fi flicks of the 1950s.

Directed by Peter Manoogian – who worked on...

Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Thunderbolts*A Marvel fan illustrates what a Thunderbolts* and Moon Knight crossover could look like if Lewis Pullman's Robert Reynolds and Oscar Isaac's Steven Grant met in the MCU. Thunderbolts* drops a few subtle references at previous MCU titles, but the biggest nod to other MCU characters comes in Thunderbolts*' post-credits scene, which reveals that the New Avengers are being sued by Sam Wilson's official Avengers team. The New Avengers are set to cross paths with other heroes sooner rather than later, as they're all confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Digital artist and Marvel fan @Candel645 imagines a friendly encounter between Robert Reynolds and Steven Grant. A Review of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live! and Interview With Usagi Actress Riko Tanaka
Image
In a magical display of song, dance, and the power of love, the cast of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live! brought to life the Sailor Scouts and the story of Sailor Moon . Just over the last year, there has been a surge of one of my favorite Japanese exports: 2.5D musicals. A 2.5D musical is the closest a fan can get to seeing their favorite characters in-person. Having the privilege to see two 2.5D musicals, I can say with confidence that it's one of the most exciting ways to enjoy a series. My first experience with an anime musical was at the 2024 Japan Parade in New York City with the cast of the Demon Slayer: The Stage . I was captivated then by the actor’s skills in song, dance, and fighting. This holds true for Sailor Moon: The Super Live! Joining the live performance in Philadelphia, I was...

Patrick Schwarzenegger Had “Fun” Filming Incest Scenes, Now He Wants to Dissect Girls in ‘American Psycho’ Remake
Image
Patrick Schwarzenegger has once again opened up about his wish to succeed Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman on screen. Schwarzenegger is a long-time fan of American Psycho and has been vocal about his desire to take over the role of Patrick Bateman in the remake.

But Patrick Schwarzenegger’s insane desire to “dissect girls” does not sound unnatural after how he recently became the talk of the town for an incestuous s*x scene in The White Lotus Season 3. While the world was shocked to see the moment between Saxon Ratliff and his younger brother, Schwarzenegger revealed that he had “fun” filming the controversial scene.

‘St. Denis Medical’ EP Teases Joyce & Alex Juggling Messy Matters in Season 1 Finale
Image
The first season of the critically adored medical comedy St. Denis Medical scrubs out with two cases of universally overextended caretakers that will feel very familiar to anyone who has ever tried to do the right thing the wrong-est way possible. As usual, it’s money matters that are ailing chronically needy CEO Joyce (Wendi McLendon-Covey), who realizes she can actually buy the respect of her hospital staff with new equipment — even if it means exhausting the funds she hoped to use to elevate St. Denis’ reputation in the community. “A redeeming quality of Joyce is that she does have a plan,” laughs the NBC hit’s first-time showrunner Eric Ledgin. “It’s a little bit of a ‘Shoot for the moon, you’ll land among the stars’ thing.” In this case, it’s more like flying too close to the sun. Once word gets out that the boss is...

The Big 3 of Shonen Have No Excuse for Fumbling Their Female Characters So Bad After the Example Sailor Moon Set
Image
None would deny the overwhelming appeal of the big 3 of Shonen that have dominated the global entertainment industry for decades now. However, they, along with some other popular modern Shonen anime, have always had one major flaw. The lack of a powerful yet relatable female character!

Sailor Moon came out way back in the 90s, and yet, it nailed the whole strong, empowered female lead thing without making Usagi feel like a sidekick or just a love interest. So, naturally, you’d think the industry has learned a lesson or two from Sailor Moon, right? But nope! For some reason, the modern anime landscape has yet to create a single female character that resonates half as much.

The realism in Sailor Moon’s character is what sets her apart from the rest

Usagi fans (Sailor Moon‘s civilian name) would definitely agree that she’s absolutely one of a kind.

Skull Heads Noir has been released by Full Moon
Image
Last year, Charles Band’s company Full Moon announced that they were launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which would focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” Two Pulp Noir movies, Quadrant and Death Streamer, have since made their way through production – and while those movies were initially released in color, all of the Pulp Noir movies will also get black & white “noir” releases, so there are both color and black & white versions of Quadrant and Death Streamer available on the Full Moon Features streaming service. While we wait for more Pulp Noir movies to be made, Band has started going through the Full Moon library to give some of their older films the black & white / noir treatment. This noir series, which is expected to consist of at least a dozen films, got started with a black & white version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers.

Twilight Movies on Netflix: Cast, Release Date, and More Details on the Vampire Saga
Image
The wolf’s out of the bag: All five of the Twilight films are now streaming on Netflix in the US.

This saga of vampires, werewolves, and the intensity of teen romance tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan and her undead soulmate, Edward Cullen. You’ll be able to watch the entire franchise beginning May 1, regardless of whether there’s an Eclipse or a New Moon on the horizon.

With its 2008 release, Twilight introduced the vampire craze to a new generation and became a massively successful cultural phenomenon. Through its five films, the franchise grossed $3.3 billion worldwide, and gave us some incredible quotes, unmatched melodrama, and — let’s be honest — plenty of teen angst. It also asked fans to pick a side on one of the most heavily debated issues of our time: Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?...

“It’s like saying you enjoy Tylenol”: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Gets Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Right and I Can’t Wait for His Marvel Special
Image
When Jon Bernthal walks in as The Punisher, you know things are about to get real. And quite naturally that’s what happened when he teamed up with Matt Murdock in Episode 9 of Daredevil: Born Again. There was blood, bruises, and a whole lot of brooding. But at least Marvel finally understood the base of Frank Castle.

While fans believe that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher kills for fun, at least Daredevil: Born Again directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson understand that he does it because pain is all he knows. They compared his need to kill to popping Tylenol—and that’s honestly the most hauntingly perfect comparison ever.

So now that Marvel has finally cracked the code on Frank Castle’s actions and choices, I’m excited for The Punisher Special Presentation. Perhaps, the character will now get the gritty, emotional justice he deserves.

'Aladdin' Is the Latest Classic Tale to Get a Horror Twist
Image
If you're anything like horror queen Jamie Lee Curtis, nothing quite gets your hair standing on end like the Disney classic Aladdin and, in particular, the evil Jafar. After the Oscar winner announced her fear of the film, and given the current slate of warped horror adaptations of children's classics, it was only a matter of time until Prince Ali was given the gory treatment. Subtitled The Monkey's Paw, this horror reimagining of John Musker and Ron Clements' Disney classic is yet another in a long line of similar examples, from Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey to Mickey's Mouse Trap.

Now, via Deadline, the biggest update yet for Aladdin: The Monkey's Paw has been released, with it announced that production will officially begin across the pond in the UK next month. Led by Empire Studios, Every Entertainment, and 8th Law Pictures, the sinister street rat tale will feature a...

1 Criminally Underrated Marvel Anti-hero Thunderbolts* Needs to Bring to the Big Screen
Image
We’ve had heroes. We’ve had villains. We’ve had morally ambiguous wizards who accidentally break the multiverse because they didn’t want to say goodbye to their girlfriends. But what have we been seriously missing lately? Unhinged, unpredictable, anti-heroes.

Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts* film is shaping up to be a delicious buffet of that chaos, featuring a squad of slightly less homicidal baddies. We’re talking Red Guardian, Bucky, Yelena, Ghost, and people who’ve probably been kicked out of a group chat at some point.

But we have a spicy little pitch. A wildcard. A skull-wearing vigilante with zero chill and a very large gun collection. Yes, Thunderbolts* needs to bring in one particular anti-hero who’s been lurking in the shadows for too long. Let’s dive into this wishful casting and...

What If...? Concept Art Highlights Mahershala Ali's MCU Debut As Blade/Moon Knight Ahead Of Marvel Zombies
Image
Marvel Zombies was first announced at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022 as part of a splashy "Marvel Animation" slate reveal. Things went quiet after that, though it's since been confirmed that the four-episode series will premiere on Disney+ on October 3, later this year.

While the concept originated in the comics, it wasn't until What If...? season 1 that Marvel Studios finally put the spotlight on undead superheroes. In an episode titled "What If... Zombies?!" we watched as several fan-favourite heroes, including Spider-Man, fought off a whole host of undead fan-favourites.

Marvel Zombies will serve as a sequel to that, and the What If...? series finale offered a glimpse at one of the Variants expected to take centre stage in the story: Mahershala Ali's Blade/Moon Knight.

While the Oscar winner had a brief voice cameo in 2021's Eternals, the Daywalker's solo movie remains stuck in limbo after being announced...

‘Moonrise’ Netflix Review: Gorgeous Animation Marred By Unnecessarily Complicated Storytelling
Image
It always hurts me when an animated project turns out to be bad, not on a technical level, but on a storytelling level. If the designs for the world-building, the characters, the backgrounds, the foregrounds, the action sequences, the expressions on the faces of the characters, and everything else that you are seeing visually are awful, it’s really easy to say that I didn’t like looking at it. I can appreciate the ambition and whatnot, but I don’t have to split hairs over why it didn’t work for me. Things are different when I love everything that I am looking at, but I don’t feel any emotions. Then it’s the fault of either the characters’ motivations, the lack of emotional stakes, or just the needless overcomplication of a narrative that isn’t as complex as the writers think it is. Recently, it has happened with Kung Fu Panda 4,...

This Key Sailor Moon Lore Is More Important Than You Remember

Celestial themes in Sailor Moon range from the scientific, like astronomy, to the more esoteric, like astrological divination and the zodiac. Some character designs represent zodiac archetypes, especially minor villains and monsters. Zodiac signs are also important when it comes to fleshing out Sailor Moon character traits.

Most of the main cast characters each have their own identified zodiac sun sign. Their sun signs are quite often tied in with their most significant powers, ability titles, home planets, and sacred objects. Examining a main character's sun sign in Sailor Moon can also tell fans a lot about their personality, quirks, and ambitions.

Who are those missing from the "Avengers: Doomsday" roster of heroes?
Image
Marvel Studios has officially announced the current cast lineup for their next crossover event, Avengers: Doomsday, and there were indeed surprises!

Apart from MCU veterans returning to the table, like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Paul Rudd, the lineup also consisted of stars from the latest MCU entries, such as Captain America: Brave New World, the upcoming Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: The First Steps.

But importantly, the roster featured several cast members from Fox’s X-Men series, including Patrick Stewart (his second MCU appearance after Doctor Strange 2), Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn. Additionally, Channing Tatum will appear as Gambit, giving another redemption for his once-scrapped outing.

While it is overwhelming to glance at the packed roster of Avengers (any sense of hype notwithstanding) and speculate the plot behind Doomsday, it is also another matter when noticing some absences from the lineup, especially when...

Sailor Moon: Is Sailor Cosmos a Future Version of Usagi or Someone From Another Timeline?
Image
One of Sailor Moon's biggest unsolved mysteries deals with the arrival of Sailor Cosmos. Introduced in the final arc of the manga, Sailor Cosmos is revealed to be an extremely powerful figure, but her cryptic nature leaves her true identity shrouded in secrecy. While the story never gives a clear answer, fans have long wondered about Sailor Cosmos and whether she is a future version of Usagi or someone entirely different.

Sailor Cosmos' backstory is a tragic one full of sadness and regret, and it led the character to travel through time to the very end of Sailor Moon's timeline. Little else is known about the character, and her time seen in the series is so short she wasn't even featured in the '90s anime adaptation. Nonetheless, Sailor Cosmos hints at an even larger conflict in the Sailor Moon universe, which has made her one of the most...

Did the Sailor Guardians Inspire Other Copycats to Fight for Justice?
Image
Sailor Moonfans frequently ponder what effect Usagi and the other Sailor Scouts had on the world around them. Because readers spend most of the story following Usagi, who usually bounces from one crisis to the next, they rarely get the chance to soak in the world and see what effect Sailor Moon's crusade for love and justice is having on Japan as a whole. One of Sailor Moon's most overlooked side stories shows that Usagi's heroism inspired at least two copycats. The copycats, however, follow in Usagi's footsteps for highly unexpected reasons.

One of the most interesting, but under-explored, elements of Sailor Moon's world-buildingis that the public is well aware of Usagi and her friend's actions. For example, in Sailor Moon's 18th episode, "Shingo's Innocent Love! A Sorrowful French Doll," Shingo makes a Sailor Moon doll because his girlfriend, Mika Kayama, loves the heroine. Plus, the claw...

The White Lotus' Ratliff Brothers Were Blindsided By Season 3's Most Controversial Storyline
Image
Put down your tropical drink and don't go party with any strangers if you haven't watched "Denials," the sixth episode of season 3 of "The White Lotus." Spoilers ahead!

Okay, so ... two brothers totally hooked up on the third season of Mike White's international anthology series "The White Lotus." Saxon and Lochlan Ratliff, the older and younger brothers played respectively by Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola, who are "on vacation" in Thailand with their on-screen family, including father Timothy (Jason Isaacs), mother Victoria (Parker Posey), and sister Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), end up going to a party on a yacht in the season's fifth episode "Full-Moon Party," ready for a night of drinking and debauchery with Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood). Because Chelsea is devoted to her much older boyfriend Rick (Walton Goggins), she disappears when things get steamy, and in the following episode "Denials," we...

"It's Everything All At Once": 'Agatha All Along' Jac Schaeffer Explains What Agathario's Wedding Would Look Like [Exclusive]
Image
After practically breaking the internet with the confirmation that Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) "were married, in some witchy way" in Agatha All Along, showrunner Jac Schaeffer is back to feed the shippers. While talking with Collider's Taylor Gates on the red carpet at PaleyFest, Schaeffer was asked about what a potential AgathaRio wedding would look like. The question is one we've been curious about, given that they're hundreds of years old (if not older in Rio's case) and witches — the combination would not likely result in anything resembling tradition in any belief system. While fans (sadly) didn't get to see more of their relationship, Schaeffer's answer goes back to something we did see on screen. She told Collider:

"Well, we had such a good time figuring out the physical ritual of the broom exchange so I— and it was a lot of like,...

“Those consequences don’t end”: I’m Now Convinced How Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Will Be Set Up After Showrunner Clears Muse’s Role
Image
One of the most intriguing villains to come out of Daredevil: Born Again is none other than Muse, a new addition to Daredevil’s list of villains. Along with Wilson Fisk and Benjamin Poindexter, the trifecta of villains is definitely working towards making Matt Murdock’s life hell in more ways than one.

However, a theory suggests that Muse is going to be a bane for Wilson Fisk as well, which has been strengthened by some comments made by showrunner Dario Scardapane. Not only has it revealed Muse’s role for this season, but also for the season to come.

Tuxedo Mask Was Never Sailor Moon's True Love — He Was Her Worst Enemy
Image
Tuxedo Mask is one of the most popular characters in Sailor Moon. He's one of the few male characters with powers that rival the Sailor Guardians and plays a key role in almost every story arc. It's also reiterated multiple times that Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon's love for each other knows no bounds, and they would do anything to help each other. Fans may not know the Tuxedo Mask many are familiar with wasn't always this benevolent. In fact, Tuxedo Mask is the least reliable out of Sailor Moon's super-powered protagonists.

There were several instances throughout the anime and manga where Tuxedo Mask was one of Sailor Moon's most dangerous enemies. Initially, this can be hard to believe for many long-time fans of the series. But there's no denying that villains have taken advantage of Tuxedo Mask and used him to try to destroy the Sailor Scouts,...

10 Strongest Anime Heroes Who Can Defeat The Ant King From Solo Leveling
Image
The Ant King was the hidden S-Rank boss of Solo Leveling's Jeju Island Gate and is by far the strongest monster that has set foot on Earth thus far. He personally killed multiple S-Rank Hunters, including Japan's strongest Hunter. The Ant King can destroy most anime heroes with his immense strength, speed, and reflexes, but a few would pull a Sung Jinwoo on him.

All of these anime heroes would be considered S-Rank Hunters in Solo Leveling, as they all possess overpowered abilities and skills. Several of these anime heroes can defeat the Ant King in hand-to-hand combat, and others can destroy him with powerful spells and ranged attacks. The Ant King might have high-speed regeneration, the Gluttony Skill, and paralytic poison, but he can still be defeated by certain heroes if they attack first.

Everything You Didn't Know About Sailor Moon's Lore
Image
The Sailor Moonanime is an epic fantasy classic for a reason. It starts out in the modern-day real world and follows a regular schoolgirl with her fair share of flaws and everyday concerns, but just beneath the surface is an extraordinary story. Usagi Tsukino has past-life ties to the lofty Moon Kingdom, which has a rich celestial history.

Naoko Takeuchi thoughtfully crafted the original Sailor Moon manga series. She poured all of her own interests into it, from folklore to fashion to science. There are nuanced rules to her world-building that may not be apparent to the casual viewer or easily memorable to audiences who grew up with the series but haven't revisited it in a while.

Updated by Lauren Younkin on March 22, 2025: Sailor Moon is a long-running franchise with a storied history, and the same can be said for its worldbuilding. With many different eras that include multiple versions of the beloved characters,...

'I Want to Know Why They Chose Me': Sailor Moon Actor Opens Up on Playing Anime & Manga's Most Iconic Magical-Girl Character
Image
Earlier this month, Sailor Moon's official stage show began its run in North America, bringing the magic of Naoko Takeuchi's beloved series to new audiences. Given the mass international appeal of the popular franchise, Sailor Moon stage star Riko Tanaka is admittedly bewildered that she managed to land the iconic role.

Tanaka stars as Usagi Tsukino in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live -- a 2.5D Musical.According to lead producer Makoto Matsuda, the show is an ambitious combination of "songs, music, dance, technology, visuals and projections" designed to faithfully recreate Sailor Moon's 2D comic and anime universe. The first half is an acted-out narrative, while the second is a lively concert featuring hit songs from the Sailor Moon anime series. The show's recent debut in Pittsburgh, Pa marked the beginning of a 21-week U.S. tour that's scheduled to run through April 26. In a recent interview with Cinapse,...

10 Most Important Sailor Moon Episodes You Can't Skip
Image
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, born as Usagi Tsukino, is by far the most influential magical girl to emerge in the shojo anime genre, and her story's success is well-earned. Based on Naoko Takeuchi's hit manga series, the story of Usagi's journey to becoming Sailor Moon gracefully balances elements of playful entertainment with meaningful material in the beloved '90s Sailor Moon anime. Although Sailor Moon is undeniably beloved by fans worldwide, some of its two hundred episodes are considerably more significant to the overall story than others.

Sailor Moon often punctuates its most important moments with exciting character introductions, dramatic battles, or magical power-ups accompanied by stylish new outfits. For example, meeting new Sailor Guardians often marks important shifts in the story, and the outcomes of their conflicts against the cosmic villains of the series shape the overall narrative. While it's difficult to deliver such high-stakes elements with every episode,...

The Dead Want Women Noir: another Full Moon horror film gets the black & white treatment
Sam Rockwell in Moon (2009)
Last month, a “noir” version of the 1984 sci-fi thriller Christmas classic Trancers was released through Full Moon Features and YouTube, as was a black & white version of the 1997 creature feature The Creeps.
