A weaker than usual final entry but still fun

I did not quite meet my goal of watching all of Something Weird Video's Dusk to Dawn trailer series (except for volume two, missing from my collection) in the month of May, but I came close. Volume ten is far from the best of the series, but it is still better than volume six. This entry contains trailers for a wide variety of films.

Volume ten begins with trailers for B-thrillers from the 50's and 60's. The standout trailer here is the one for Samuel Fuller's wonderful Shock Corridor. Ma Barker's Killer Brood looks fun as well. Oddly enough, the trailer for Fuller's The Naked Kiss fails to sell the film as strongly as it deserved. Next up is a handful of trailers for jungle films of that era. Fans of the genre might get more out of the trailers than I did. After those are trailers for music themed films (like Having a Wild Weekend) and bad kid movies. Any parent who takes a child to Fun in Balloon Land should be prosecuted for child abuse. I could barely stand to watch the trailer. Arty sexploitation films follow the kid movies. Juliette de Sade is represented by two trailers and looks the best of the films (although Maid in Sweden does have Christina Lindberg in it). After the sex films, we get trailers for biker and car racing movies, neither genre a favorite. Winding down, volume ten serves up trailers for racially themed films (including the incredibly cheap looking The Guy from Harlem and the foreign made adaptation of Uncle Tom's Cabin). The Cardona family is represented by Survive! and Tintorera before volume ten concludes with the lovely Claudia Jennings blasting away rednecks in Gator Bait.

Of course, there are a couple of goofs. I believe the trailer for Savage Sisters was featured in one of the earlier collections. Girl with an Itch is represented by nothing but a quick title card (was the trailer accidentally left off?).

Finally, although I am watching the collection in June, volume ten is focused on Christmas. The viewer gets three different season greetings advertisements. One of these even encourages the viewer to sing along to a rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" complete with bouncing ball (I chose not to sing along).

All in all, volume ten is an enjoyable ending to the series.
