Im März und April testete das Zdf in der Donnerstag-Primetime die neue Anwaltsserie „Mandat für Mai“ mit Julia Hartmann in der Hauptrolle als titelgebende junge Anwältin Maria ‚Mai‘ Gardner, die es von Berlin in das Vogtland verschlägt. Jetzt kommunizierte der öffentlich-rechtliche Sender, dass die Einschaltquoten der sechsteiligen Produktion von Real Film Berlin nicht für eine zweite Staffel reichten.
Auf Anfrage der TV Spielfilm teilte Bastian Wagner aus der Hauptredaktion Fernsehfilm/Serie II mit: „Die Serie wird nach der ersten Staffel nicht fortgesetzt, da nicht die erwartete Resonanz erzielt werden konnte. “Mogul Mowgli,” co-written, starring and produced by Riz Ahmed and his company Left Handed Films, has been acquired by BFI Distribution. The fiction feature debut of celebrated documentary filmmaker Bassam Tariq, it premiered at Berlin in February, winning the Fipresci International Critics Prize.
Following Ahmed’s character Zed, the film tells the story of a British Pakistani rapper preparing for his first world tour when a sudden illness threatens to end his international career before it even begins. After the diagnosis, Zed takes a step back and takes stock of his past, his family and the uncertain legacy he is leaving behind.
