    Timely. Cutting-edge.

"Bureaucracy" takes the frustration of an employee in a dead-end job and pushes it to the extreme. The viewer sees a mild-mannered, soft spoken low-level bureaucrat bothered by his failure to advance and the lack of respect exhibited by his do-nothing boss. It's a situation many can identify with, and given the current economic malaise facing the country, is a timely story to tell. The protagonist's response to his conditions is extreme, but thought provoking. Without giving away further plot details, I would describe the film as "cutting edge," as I am not sure I have ever seen anything quite like it. Viewers who enjoy movies with an element of suspense, but also enjoy thought provoking social commentary will enjoy the film. I highly recommend it.

One of the worst movies of recent.

This barely meets the standard for a film, but since it technically contains all the minimal requirements for a movie, I'll concede that it's a movie. But that's the most recognition it'll get from me.

Besides from - technically - being a film, it doesn't meet any standards that I have whatsoever. Every element that's required in a film - in this film - was terrible to depressing. What was depressing was the scale of terrible it reached. I repeat, every facet.

The director's understanding of cinematography is a very stable one. Stable in the sense the camera didn't movie. It certainly had the indie style of non-movement. You know, where the camera is focused on one area, despite the fact different things are happening. To be fair, throughout most of the movie they didn't move much, so at least you could see what was going on in the shot, for the most part.

The soundtrack was literally one song. Actually, the sound track was literally a 10 second piano verse, does that even constitute a song?

The acting was horrible. I mean it. Every actor needs serious lessons on how to act. Bland, monotone, unenthusiastic and without nuances of tone and expressions. Delivery of jokes or expressions came off as forced and non-human.

Production and editing, crappy. Nothing appealing or interesting to it. Just fade out and fade ins were the most common.

The worst thing is that all this together equals a painful dose of depression. You can't sit through this film without getting down at how awful and completely disinteresting it is. So bad it's good? No, so bad it's depression.

Finally! Why can't they make more movies like this one?

This is a great film, I just saw it today and was so impressed that I had to leave a comment as soon as possible.

It reminded me of The Office, without the comic twists. Instead, the comedy is there because the characters are people we all know. But the real emotions are dramatic.

The other film this reminded me of is oddly enough, The Sting with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. I'm not giving away the ending. But it is an extremely rare privilege to get an ending like you do in Bureaucracy. It's a shame you have to go that far back to find a film that evokes the same type of emotions when the lights come back on.

Make a point to see Bureaucracy if you want to see a film that does everything you want in a movie.
