Writers/Executive producers/Showrunners Matthew Scott Kane (Stitchers) and David Goodman (The Orville) blend horror, humor, and heart in “Hysteria!” Peacock’s coming-of-age series mines its drama and horror from America’s dark history of mass hysteria through the shocking story of the teenage Satanic Panic.
The series follows a group of 1980s high school misfits as they exploit the growing hysteria around teen occult activity, and it boasts a tremendous cast that ensures these characters will worm their way into your heart before the horror ensues.
Garret Dillahunt (The Last House on the Left), Nolan North (Pretty Little Liars), Elijah Richardson (Fantasy Football), Milly Shapiro (Hereditary), Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13), and Jessica Treska (Alex & Me) star alongside Bruce Campbell, Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, and Nikki Hahn.

To understand "The Bionic Woman" heroine Jaime Sommers, you first have to get on board with "The Six Million Dollar Man." The young tennis star turned partially cyborg superhero was first introduced on "The Six Million Dollar Man" in the show's second season as a female counterpart to the series' male bionic hero. Jaime, the show told viewers, was severely injured in a skydiving accident, but cutting-edge technology allowed her to not only live through it, but also gain new skills. She had extra-strength hearing, superstrength, and the ability to run at top speeds, all of which came in handy for her new life as a schoolteacher-slash-spy.
A high-concept storyline like this one may not thrive on TV today (unless it was made by DC or Marvel), but in the '70s, audiences ate it up. Jaime's eventual death in "The Six Million Dollar Man" was so poorly received that...

When we talk about classic TV shows from the '70s, it's hard not to mention "The Six Million Dollar Man." Airing for five seasons on ABC, the show focuses on astronaut Steve Austin who is gravely injured in a spaceship crash. He then undergoes a government surgery that replaces his body parts with machine parts, making him part man, part cyborg. With the new powers afforded him by these upgrades, Steve goes to work for the Office of Scientific Information, battling evil forces.
The show ran for 99 episodes and inspired six TV movies. Mark Wahlberg has even been attached to star in a big-screen adaptation of the show for years now, with the project stalling out at various points. But Lee Majors was the man responsible for originally bringing the character to life. 50 years removed from the show's premiere on network television, Majors and several other of the show's...

Please don't send any Harveys my way.
On SurrealEstate Season 1 Episode 2, we learned that imaginary friends could often have devious natures.
So much for nurturing your child's imagination. In the case of a Harvey, you might be leading your entire family to the grave.
SurrealEstate maintained its whimsy and humor the second episode out.
It also continues to resemble beloved shows that have come before, but I'd like to see a little more involvement from the secondary characters.
I'd mentioned Warehouse 13 and Haven, which were known to focus on the leads quite heavily. But Haven, especially, had a great supporting lineup of characters whose skills were imperative to helping the leads determine which direction to go to solve cases.
A reader brought up Eureka, and if things continue along this path, we won't see that same kind of unity on SurrealEstate.
Maybe I just don't understand what each agent...

Comcast and NBCUniversal are pushing Peacock out of the nest starting Wednesday, April 15, promising to unfurl a rich plume of 15,000-plus hours of streaming content, first for the cable giant’s own TV and internet customers.
Peacock is then slated to be available across the U.S. on July 15 — while NBCU is mulling the possibility of moving that up sooner — in various three tiers across mobile, web and connected-tv devices: paid with ads ($4.99 monthly); paid with no ads ($9.99 monthly); and completely free with ads with a truncated content lineup. With the national launch, Comcast (and Cox) subscribers also will have the option to get an ad-free version of the service for an additional $5 per month.
So what’s on the menu? Peacock will include live and on-demand content across current and past TV shows, movies, news, and late night programming, with some live sports once they resume post-pandemic. Most of...

Despite much of the network’s airtime being devoted to procedurals, CBS has developed a recent tradition of devoting its summer programming slots to more out-there genre programming — shows that might defy expectations and represent more bonkers storytelling.
This year, look to “Blood and Treasure” as the latest show to follow in this tradition. A modern-day action thriller with touches of “Indiana Jones” and “National Treasure,” creators Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia deliver an odd couple globe-trotting adventure about an antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to take down a notorious thief/terrorist (played by “The Mummy’s” Oded Fehr.)

Does absence — 10 seasons worth of it, to be exact — make the heart grow fonder?
On Tuesday’s Bones (Fox, 9/8c), that question will be answered for Brennan when her ex-boyfriend Sully returns a decade after the two split up. Unfortunately, the character’s surprising reappearance — “I never thought that it would happen. I always hoped it would,” his portrayer Eddie McClintock says — is brought on by some sad news.

In what is either the worst or best idea he's ever had, director Richard Kelly is plotting a return to his Donnie Darko universe...
Cult favourite Donnie Darko has held up well since its release in 2001. The time travel flick was an unexpected minor hit with moviegoers around the world, especially on home release, and launched the career of Jake Gyllenhaal into the stratosphere.

Gyllenhaal played the titular character of the film, a teenager plagued by apocalyptic visions of a rabbit-suited man who eventually leads him to his grisly fate, accompanied by an 80s-themed soundtrack that is now virtually impossible to separate from the film's events.
An inevitable sequel followed in 2009, S. Darko, which focused on Donnie's little sister Samantha. The film was objectively a bit of a mess,...

Ryan Phillippe has broken his leg, so Shooter season 2 will stop after 8 episodes (instead of the originally-intended 10)...
While the 2007 Mark Wahlberg-starring suspense thriller Shooter wasn’t the kind of box-office blowout hit that would conventionally yield further revisiting, USA nevertheless decided to make a go of a television series adaptation. While its would-be summer 2016 premiere was delayed, mired in the content-sensitive aftermath of the Baton Rogue police shootings, its eventual November premiere yielded good results. Consequently, a second season was ordered.
That second season has already started airing, but now it's hit problems.
Today, we're hearing that this second season will be shorter than previously expected. The original order was for ten episodes, but production is now stopping after eight because the show's star, Ryan Phillippe, has broken his leg.
The injury took place off set, and was described as a "freak" incident during...

What to do when faced with the inevitability of your own demise?
Find a loophole, of course! In The Librarians Season 3 Episode 4, Eve Baird discovered that she had a supernatural hit out on her and unsurprisingly did not sit around and wait for her impending doom.
Really, though, the moral of this story should be "Listen to Jenkins."
Seriously, though, you would think that the Librarians, knowing full well that Jenkins is a centuries-old immortal being, would pay more attention to him.
Of course, had they done that, there really wouldn't have been much of an episode, now would there?
What will happen to the swim team? After all, they did cheat on their tests, and Tyson admitted as much in front of the principal.
While they might not face direct consequences (presumably, the Librarians confiscated all the magic goggles), they will have problems if they use their inflated scores...

Here’s a fun bit of casting quietly nestled at the bottom of ABC’s press release for the next episode of Once Upon a Time: genre-tv fave Jaime Murray will be guest-starring.

In the ninth episode of Season 6, titled “Changelings” (and looking very ominous for Rumple and Belle), the Brit beauty will be playing the Black Fairy, TVLine has confirmed. (Her first name was spelled “Jamie” in an early version of the release, conjuring a bit of confusion.)
Murray most recently played the milky-complexioned alien Stahma Tarr on Syfy’s Defiance.
