Never thought I would actually find a comedian that I actually liked but man, is this guy amazing. As an Asian myself, I found many scenes to be quite relatable. I laughed so hard at many of the scenes!

Big fan of HBO Silicon Valley and read his book which was great so had high hopes. I'm Asian and I felt like I should have laughed more. I chuckled a couple times and one time I laughed, but otherwise I thought it fell short. Not cringe like TJ Miller's attempt on HBO, but not especially laugh out loud. If you are a fan of SV then you should give it a try but for me I wouldn't watch it again.

2 stars because I respect the fact that someone gets up in front of a lot of people which takes nerve in itself. I just don't find any of his skit funny and over 30 minutes into it and I literally haven't laughed a single time. I'm really not sure how this guy got this kind of airtime from Amazon? I can list 10 other comedians off the top of my head that would have done better than J.O.Y. The jokes and stereotypes about Asians have been done 100x so this isn't new material by any means.
It disturbs me as a fan of comedy and stand up in general, that this was given the green light and promoted so heavily by Amazon.
Sorry man, no disrespect intended but none of this was funny and I don't think I'll even finish watching this...
Funny as hell!!

I stumbled upon this while browsing on Amazon Prime Video. I knew he was very funny from some clips of his stand up comedy, but this is his first stand up special. I laughed out loud a number of times while I was watching it. I highly recommend it!
Asian representation!

Lol I relate so hard to this stand-up because I've never watched a HK-American stand-up comedian before. I felt like we lived similar lives because I related to almost everything he talked about. I actually laughed out loud several times but it was only because I was canto and I understood the joke. I understand why many people wouldn't find his stand-up funny because they were all based off of being canto and american. He also is not a very facially expressive person, like Ken Jeong is. It was not the most funny stand-up I've ever watched but I would say it was the most relatable, as a HK immigrant, and it's nice to see the representation!
Funny! Funny!

It was really funny! The guy has great timing with content that feels authentic and personal!
I see that a lot of people give this stand up a bad review because they say the Asian stereotyped material has been done to death? But has it really? How come I don't see a lot of Asian first generation comedian (that's actually funny) talking about their personal experiences like that?
