The Masked Singer Season 13 featured many unexpected competitors. Still, the unveiling of the Lucky Duck is perhaps the most surprising reveal yet because of his connection to a pop star. The person behind the mask managed to confuse panelists until Episode 12, when he made the bold decision to take off his mask himself.
"Judging by the way these guys are guessing things, they will get it completely wrong," Lucky Duck said. "They'll think it's Meryl Streep under here. I'm taking this mask off myself." And the person underneath the disguise was Taika Waititi! Fans of the director will know that he is married to Rita Ora, which makes his inclusion on The Masked Singer even more interesting.

The Max comedy explores what happens when your Bff’s life starts moving faster than yours.
Delaney Buffett and Katie Corwin have been real-life best friends since they were kids — and in “Adult Best Friends,” they turn that ride-or-die bond into one seriously funny (and painfully relatable) comedy. They wrote it, they star in it, and yep, they even named the characters after themselves. It’s not technically based on their lives, but let’s just say it comes from a very real place. The movie’s all about what happens when your forever friend hits a major life milestone and you’re suddenly not sure where you fit anymore. It starts streaming on Max on Friday, May 2, and premieres on HBO Saturday, May 3 at 8 p.m. Et.

Director Kalyan Shankar’s follow-up to his 2023 comedy “Mad” is neither fun nor funny. Titled “Mad Square,” with square as in the algebraic expression, the Telugu film is supposed to multiply with itself. It is understandably an effort at exaggerating the entertainment quotient of the sequel. With a string of bland, repetitive gags coming one after another, “Mad Square” is one flat joke. There is very less to feel entertained by, but a whole lot to be ‘mad’ about. To quote Math, instead of raising to the power of two, the film should have subtracted itself from itself.
The sequel places itself some four years after the events of the first film. With a nod towards the engineering college setup of the first film, “Mad Square” shows a band of engineering students being taken to a high-security prison. It is baffling why those students, possibly taken in for unruliness or some petty misdemeanor,...

Ken Jeong, best known for his hilarious roles in movies like The Hangover and Crazy Rich Asians, as well as the outspoken clue master on The Masked Singer, surprised audiences with a dramatic turn in "Eugene's Story" on Fox's anthology series Accused.
"They wrote a story with me in mind," Jeong tells Gold Derby. "It was my first dramatic lead in anything. I just jumped at this opportunity. Dramatic opportunities are very rare for me — for totally understandable and obvious reasons — but I was completely honored and flattered that they would even think of me for a show as prestigious as Accused. It turned out to be one of my favorite things I've ever done."
In "Eugene's Story," Jeong plays a jewelry store owner put on trial after accidentally shooting his wife, Grace (Jamie Chung), while interfering with her dicey past. The episode was directed by Michael Chiklis and written by Howard Gordon,...

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been going strong for 20 years, easily holding the record for most seasons for a sitcom. That’s pretty steady work…especially if comedy movies are bombing at the box office, as Charlie Day says.
Always Sunny star Charlie Day recently said that while he has had good opportunities to expand into comedy movies, they don’t offer the stability that the series does. “There was a time when there were a lot of big comedy movies happening, and I thought, maybe I was going to be on the road more often, and then those just kind of dried up, so I’m glad I didn’t quit my TV day job, you know?”
Day brings up an interesting topic that has been the subject of debate for a while now. Are comedies actually dead at the box office? Let’s take a look…...

If you’re not a Cousin Randy fan after Tracker Season 2 Episode 17, you’re missing out because the character has been a brilliant addition to the Tracker family.
Bobby’s cousin has mostly been relegated to Bobby-like duties since he was introduced this season, but he’s made an impact with his funny one-liners and generally low-key attitude, which is in major contrast to Colter’s more stoic approach.
The two have made a good team thus far, so teaming them up in person was a clever decision. It paid off in delivering one of the funnier episodes of the series in a while.
(Colin Bentley/CBS)
Chris Lee has made the absolute most of his time on Tracker Season 2, no matter how big or small the appearance each week.

It’s no exaggeration to say that one particular scene in A Minecraft Moviehas gone completely viral since the Jared Hess-directed film was released on April 4. Videos on various social media platforms of movie-goers, often kids and teenagers, enthusiastically react to the “chicken jockey” scene in the movie that stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa.
Theaters around the country have been dealing with patrons throwing popcorn in the air during a scene in which Black’s character Steve yells “chicken jockey” after a baby zombie falls from a crate and lands on the back of a chicken. At a Utah theater, someone went so far as to sneak a live chicken into a screening of A Minecraft Movie. A New Jersey theater has banned groups of minors from the film unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

A Minecraft Movie continues to make the box office its sandbox as the recently-released blockbuster is now the highest-grossing film coming out of Hollywood. The sandbox video game adaptation secures its place in Warner Bros. history following its second weekend in cinemas.
Per Collider, A Minecraft Movie is now among the top 25 most commercially successful Warner Bros. films, slotting in at number 24 at the all-time domestic box office ($280 million), ahead of The Hangover. Though A Minecraft Movie, the second-highest-grossing film released in 2025 ($550.6 million worldwide), has a long way to go to catch Barbie ($1.447 billion worldwide) at the top of Warner Bros.' all-time list, the live-action adaptation earned a higher domestic opening weekend return than the Oscar-winning effort.

A Minecraft Movie has completed its second weekend in theaters with a behemoth box office total. The video game adaptation led by Jack Black added another $80 million to its domestic box office total this weekend, and it now sits at $280 million at the domestic box office. Pair that with $269 million internationally, and the film has earned just over $550 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing movie of the year. This $280 million at the domestic box office is enough to make Minecraft one of the top 25 highest-grossing Warner Bros. movies ever, sitting at #24 at the time of writing after recently passing The Hangover. A Minecraft Movie has also out-earned Captain America: Brave New World at the box office after less than two full weeks in theaters.

War is no laughing matter, just in case anybody needs reminding. But there has always been a strain of comedy war films, from "Operation Petticoat" and "Operation Dumbo Drop" via the Mutual Assured Destruction laffs of "Dr. Strangelove" to war-adjacent capers like "The Greatest Beer Run Ever." In 2016, Todd Phillips gave us "War Dogs," a movie that plays somewhat like a stoner version of the latter with illegal firearms instead of cans of warm Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Inspired by a "Rolling Stone" article about two young Miami dudes who became unlikely gun runners for the U.S. Government, a black comedy about the murky world of international arms dealers will always be relevant in our era of perpetual war. Following movies like "Old School" and "The Hangover," Phillips might not have seemed like the obvious choice to direct a greed-is-bad black comedy about such a serious subject. As he proved in his later "Joker" movies,...

Bradley Cooper wasn’t the first choice for Nightmare Alley?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Turns out, Bradley Cooper wasn’t Guillermo del Toro’s first pick for the role in Nightmare Alley. That spot originally belonged to Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cooper didn’t take that revelation lightly.
Back in 2019, Deadline reported that DiCaprio had signed on to star in del Toro’s noir psychological thriller. It was supposed to be the follow-up to the Oscar-winning The Shape of Water, and fans were pumped to see DiCaprio and del Toro team up. But for reasons never made public, DiCaprio quietly stepped away from the project later that year.
Enter Cooper. He stepped into the lead role of Stanton “Stan” Carlisle, a slick carny turned cunning con man. But instead of feeling triumphant, Cooper spiraled a bit. In a candid chat with Mahershala Ali for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, he admitted,...

On April 28, 2011, Michael Scott left Scranton, Pa for the Colorado Rockies, Steve Carell left "The Office," and the world was never the same. The move came seven seasons into the show, and it left the popular NBC sitcom at a crossroads. Who should take the dynamic regional manager's place? Who was worthy? In the end, the answer, of course, was Andy Bernard, but it turns out that Ed Helms' character wasn't a shoo-in for the job. On the contrary, many of the show's creators thought Dwight Schrute should have gotten the nod.
"The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s" revealed (via Uproxx) that many of the writers hinted — and some even flat out claimed — that it was the comparative box office power of Ed Helms that helped him land the highly coveted promotion. Writer Brent Forrester heavily implied as much when he said:

With test screenings fully underway for James Gunn's upcoming Superman, it was only a matter of time before spoilers started to surface and it looks like a major cameo has found its way online.
Spoilers Ahead

Last year, I had the good fortune of visiting the set of Blumhouse's upcoming horror movie "The Woman in the Yard." It took place in a college town called Athens, Georgia, about an hour away from Atlanta, give or take. What I expected to encounter during that visit was some behind-the-scenes knowledge of Jaume Collet-Serra's return to the horror genre. What I didn't expect to discover was how Todd Phillips was responsible for a near-total ban on filming at the University of Georgia that lasted more than 20 years.
Phillips is best known as the director of DC's $1 billion smash hit "Joker" from 2019. Before that, he was known best for his work in R-rated comedies like "The Hangover." His first foray into the genre was 2000's "Old School," which served as his feature directorial debut. Apart from the big screen, Hollywood stars have several personal stories that are equally entertaining, if not more. In this, Seth Rogen’s funny international escapade would definitely be in the top three. The actor, known for his comedic roles, could have truly inspired the fourth installment of The Hangover. While in the movies the cast woke up to tigers and missing teeth, Rogen actually ended up in an entirely different country.

He’s Ken Jeong, and he approves this message. “The Masked Singer” panelist and “I Can See Your Voice” host has signed on to play a politician in a project now in development at Fox.
Jeong will star and executive produce the single-camera comedy “How Can We Help,” a workplace ensemble set in the world of politics. Jeong is set to play newly elected congressman Jimmy Choi, a local stain-removal tycoon who takes office representing the 10th District of Boston. As the logline explains, “he causes all kinds of messes for his intrepid staff—none of whom voted for him.”
“How Can We Help” is inspired by retired Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and her early career working in a Congressional district office. Sen. Boxer and her daughter, filmmaker Nicole Boxer, will executive produce as well.

Ken Jeong is potentially returning to leading a scripted broadcast comedy for the first time in ten years with a series inspired by former California Senator Barbara Boxer.
The Masked Singer star is attached to star in How Can We Help, a single-camera workplace comedy that is in the works at Fox.
The network is developing the series, which comes from Friends exec producer Adam Chase and Andrew Lenchewski, who created USA Network’s Royal Pains.

Jack Quaid's new action movie, Novocaine, has officially secured the number one spot in its opening weekend at the box office in what is turning out to be a very disappointing month for theatrical releases.
According to Variety, Novocaine's $8.7 million opening took the top spot at the box office, knocking Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17 down to second place. Despite earning the top spot, Novocaine's opening weekend haul fell a bit short of the $10 million it was projected to make and also holds the unfortunate distinction of being one of the lowest-grossing movies to earn the number one spot in its opening weekend since the pandemic. However, box office returns are down across the board, as the latest weekend is one of the worst of 2025, with all films grossing just $52 million. However, Novocaine appears to be on track to make a decent profit, as the film cost just $18 million to make.

También figuran en el reparto Sydney Agudong (On My Block) como Nani Pelekai, Zach Galifianakis (Resacón en Las Vegas) como Jumba, Billy Magnussen (Spy Kids: El Armagedón) como Pleakley, Courtney B. Every once in a while, there can be a special moment in a movie theater.
A moment of pure joy and excitement that comes from witnessing something truly original.
On Tuesday at South by Southwest, the audience watching Friendship experienced exactly that: a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic moment they won’t soon forget.
Trying to sum up Friendship in just a few words feels nearly impossible. The buddy “comedy,” starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, is written and directed by Andrew DeYoung, who has crafted a film so unique that it feels nearly impossible to plug into a genre or find comparable films.
It’s equal parts hilarious, terrifying, and deeply unsettling. The story follows Craig, played by Robinson, best known for his Netflix series I Think You Should Leave. Anyone familiar with his work understands the distinctive, offbeat humor that makes him such a comedic innovator.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes mild spoilers from the Season 4 premiere of HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.
The Righteous Gemstones fans tuning in for the Season 4 premiere may be doing a double take or checking the menu to make sure they’ve got the right show as Danny McBride’s HBO televangelist comedy kicked off its final season in an unexpected fashion — by traveling back to 1862 with none of the series’ cast in sight.
Titled Prelude, the 43-minute season opener plays like a Civil War movie — graphic violence included — with a surprise leading man, Bradley Cooper, playing a Gemstone ancestor. He carries the entire episode, which chronicles his character’s journey from a scheming, unscrupulous crook who would do anything for money — including kill people and pretend to be a pastor and join a Confederate unit as a Chaplain — to redemption. Paul Feig was under a lot of pressure before the release of “Bridesmaids” in 2011 — and it was more than just his own career on the line.
Speaking on a panel at SXSW the night after the premiere of his new film “Another Simple Favor,” he shared that in the lead-up to the release of “Bridesmaids,” he was told his success or failure could have a significant impact on how women’s ideas would be treated in the industry moving forward. Though Feig was the director, the film was otherwise led by women: Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo wrote the screenplay and appeared in it alongside Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy.
“So many female writer friends of mine were going out and pitching female-led comedies, and they all heard from the studios: ‘We have to wait and see how ‘Bridesmaids’ does,'” Feig said. “I was like,...

Ever since he made his debut in the entertainment industry as an actor and proceeded to build a filmmaking career for himself as well, Bradley Cooper has earned a fair name for himself as one of Hollywood’s hotshots. But while this fame didn’t come easy to them, he has, since then, scored more than one iconic role, even becoming a part of TV’s golden history.

The flashing cameras, the glittering gowns, the emotional speeches thanking managers, spouses, and baristas who always got the coffee order just right, it’s all part of the grand performance that is the Academy Awards.
Every year, the Oscars roll around, and actors pretend to be just so happy for the person who took home the golden statuette instead of them. Cue the tight-lipped smiles and aggressive clapping.

But beneath the glitz, there’s an undercurrent of skepticism. Some actors and directors are perhaps tired of the relentless campaigning and the endless interviews. Hence, they have openly dismissed the Oscars as a meaningless affair. And leading this group of disillusioned Hollywood veterans are none other than Bradley Cooper and Woody Allen.

Whether Andy going off to anger management training or sailing off to the Bahamas, Ed Helms’ absence from The Office has been quite noticeable. Well, guess what? The actor was actually struggling with scheduling conflicts between the NBC sitcom and his hit blockbuster movie The Hangover.

To be fair, it wasn’t just Ed Helms who was balancing between The Office and Hollywood projects, even Steve Carell was having scheduling conflicts due to film offers. But, while the actors on the show were more lenient towards Carell and his timing issues, Helms’ absence sparked a cold war on set. He soon realized that he was nowhere near the beloved Michael Scott actor.

Family road trip comedies are rare today, with movies like Rv, Vacation, and The Family Plan being all but forgotten when stacked against raunchier takes on hitting the road like The Hangover, Joy Ride, and We’re the Millers. However, some classic set-ups never die, and Disney is here to carry the torch with a trailer for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.
The family-friendly romp follows a Mexican American family that has recently lost its connection to each other and its roots. The family embarks on an epic road trip that immediately goes hilariously wrong, keeping the classic storybook character’s bad luck streak alive and well.
Marvin Lemus directs Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip from a script by Matt Lopez and Judith Viorst. The first film in the series, released in 2014, starred Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as the parents of Alexander,...

Many find it hard to believe that the 2020s are halfway over. Within the decade, audiences have witnessed many surprise hits in the theaters, including but not limited to a Top Gun legacy sequel and one of the best Godzilla movies ever made. Even though the 2020s have been heavily reliant on blockbusters, other periods within the 21st century have shown their fair share of surprisingly crowd-pleasing films.
From the 2000s onward, there has been an array of theatrically released movies that caught audiences off-guard with how high-quality and entertaining they were. Viewers initially had little to no expectations for these movie releases, yet strong word-of-mouth persuaded them to see what everyone was raving about. As a result, these modern movies, from legacy sequels to downright fun action and comedy films, are now considered masterpieces in their respective genres.

Judd Apatow has insisted an R-rated comedy could still be a huge box office hit.The 57-year-old actor - who has appeared in movies like 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' and 'Knocked Up' as well as producing the likes of 'Superbad' and 'Step Brothers' and more over the years - has insisted "one person with a great idea" is all that's needed to give the genre a revival by inspiring everyone to "do it again".He told Variety: "These things kind of swing back and forth."If someone made something as funny as ‘The Hangover’ right now, it would make a billion dollars, and everyone would be trying to do that."It ebbs and it flows, and hopefully it’ll flow soon.”Apatow also dismissed the idea that political correctness makes comedy harder than it was in the past.He said: "I don't think there's a content obstacle.

Judd Apatow, who dominated the big screen for more than a decade with comedy hits like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Superbad,” “Step Brothers” and “Bridesmaids,” has weighed in on R-rated comedy movies vanishing from theaters.
The director, writer and producer told Variety on the “SNL50” carpet that all it takes is “one person with a great idea” to revitalize the genre at the box office. Once there’s another comedy hit, “suddenly everyone wants to do it again,” Apatow said. “These things kind of swing back and forth. If someone made something as funny as ‘The Hangover’ right now, it would make a billion dollars, and everyone would be trying to do that. It ebbs and it flows, and hopefully it’ll flow soon.”
Agreeing with his frequent comedy collaborator Seth Rogen, Apatow said he does not believe comedy is harder than it used to be due to political correctness.

Almost Friday Media, the digital content network and comedy production hub born out of the Instagram meme account Friday Beers, has signed with Range Media Partners.
Range will help Almost Friday build out its film and TV division as the company — known primarily for its short-form series and podcasts — looks to expand its reach into traditional entertainment.
As Variety reported last week, Almost Friday is developing a television project based on its short-form “Entrapranure” series, a satire of the alpha-male, “grindset” archetype. A TV pilot is being produced in partnership with Danny McBride’s Rough House Pictures (which is also signed to Range) and starring Chester Collins as the ruthless motivator Royce du Pont. The company has a handful of other projects in the works as well.

"This can't be happening, this can't be real." Sony Pictures has posted an official trailer for a zany comedy series called Stags, created by Daniel Cullen. This originally premiered last year in the UK on Paramount+. It's now available to watch streaming in the US exclusively on the PlayStation Plus network in Sony Pictures Core. Stags is actually a 6-episode series (not a movie!) that follows groom-to-be Stu and his friends on his stag do trip down to South America. One review calls it "the exhilarating, gorgeous tale of eight idiots." Ha. Stu's stag do in South America goes bad when Greg collapses at customs and is found to be full of cocaine. Arrested, the group are taken to an island prison run by cocaine-smuggling siblings, Selma & Branco. Things go from very bad to much worse... “Sure,” they texted, “a movie sounds great”. Between skipping down the street and keeping the butterflies at bay, you’ve given no thought to what movie you’ll be watching. After a half-hour browse and a courteous “I don’t mind, you pick” you choose The Hangover, a safe bet. But this special night has no spark. There’s nothing to talk about, and they’re checking their phone constantly, probably to see what time it is.

Super Bowl Lix has come to an end with the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in an incredible display of dominance. With an insane score of 40-22, the champions have lifted the trophy, blocking their opponents from becoming the team with three back-to-back Super Bowl wins. It simply was not a day for the Reds. Of course, both teams had massive celebrity support, including Bradley Cooper who was loud and proud of his favorite team.

Bradley Cooper has been linked with Gigi Hadid for a while now and they were even spotted together quite a few times, including on Valentine’s Day last year. So far, their relationship seems to be going great if the rumors are to be believed. However, one may say that Bradley Cooper supporting the Eagles may come off as him going against his woman.

Did you know that there's a movie out there starring Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler, the late Edward Hermann, "The Office's" Jenna Fischer, Peter Bogdanovich, and even Melissa Rauch from "The Big Bang Theory?" What if I told you the movie is written and directed by Matthew Weiner, a veteran of "The Sopranos" who went on to create "Mad Men?" Are you wondering why you haven't seen it before?! It's probably because that movie, 2014's "Are You Here," was a huge flop — but I'll get back to that in just a moment. First, what is "Are You Here" — which is currently proving pretty popular on Amazon Prime Video — about?

The Joker has come a long way from being just a clown in a purple suit causing trouble for Batman. Once a straightforward comic book villain, he has evolved into something much bigger—a kind of cinematic Rorschach test that reflects whatever the filmmaker (or actor) wants him to be. Over the years, he’s been everything from a giggling prankster (Batman ‘66) to a sadistic agent of chaos (The Dark Knight) to a tragic, unraveling figure (Joker). Somewhere along the way, he stopped being just a villain and became a role—something actors covet the way they do Shakespeare’s Richard III.
The role itself has become larger than life, unpredictable, and, somehow, Oscar bait—a wild sentence to write about a comic book character. Now, with every new Joker announcement comes the weight of expectation. When a new actor becomes the Clown Prince, we have been conditioned to expect...

It’s a buddy comedy that follows two best friends (Keke Palmer and Sza) who are trying to make rent before they’re kicked out of their apartment. The film is funny and heartfelt – the two leads have a ton of chemistry, you believe they’ve been best friends for a decade – and the plot is wild and entertaining. Ultimately, it’s about what buddy comedies are about: a great friendship that makes each person better. It got me thinking about other awesome buddy comedies out there – so, here are my favorite top seven buddy comedy movies you can stream right now.

Robert Downer Jr. and Zach Galifianakis once starred in a road trip comedy titled Due Date, and if not for them, it deserves a look based on its supporting cast. Netflix continues to be one of the biggest and most important streaming platforms, even if many of its original movies and TV shows haven’t succeeded.
