As noted in the original press release, when a mysterious photo from her college days resurfaces, singer turned detective, Jane Da Silva (Jodie Sweetin), is drawn back to her alma mater to unravel a 15-year-old mystery.

The photo, which was captured by Jane’s college boyfriend, Anthony, depicts a masked figure seemingly disposing of a body during the inaugural Edgar Allan Poe Festival.

After debuting during their CinemaCon presentation last night, Sony Pictures has officially released the brand new trailer for Karate Kid: Legends, offering an action-packed new look at the next chapter in the Karate Kid franchise. 

The new film will see Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and the original Karate Kid, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), merge their unique styles to help train a young man named Li Fong (Ben Wang) as he attempts to defend his family and become next ultimate karate champion. 

The synopsis teases, "When kung fu prodigy Li Fong relocates to New York City with his mother to attend a prestigious new school, he finds solace in a new friendship with a classmate and her father. But his newfound peace is short-lived after he attracts unwanted attention from a formidable local karate champion. Driven by a desire to defend himself, Li embarks on a journey to enter the ultimate karate competition.

Former “Days of our Lives” actor Mark Valley is starring in the new film from director Luca Elmi called “Hostage,” which wrapped principal photography this week in Kentucky, Deadline reported.

Written by Drew Ingram and produced by his Stagmoor Studios, the film also stars William Moseley (“The Chronicles of Narnia” franchise) and follows a charismatic politician’s road to the governor’s office as it takes an unexpected twist when he becomes embroiled in a high-stakes hostage situation that forces him to confront his past and threatens to derail his path to power.

Exclusive: Hulu and 20th Television‘s Prison Break pilot has cast Clayton Cardenas, Jr Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock as series regulars.

The project reunites Cardenas and Bourne with Mayans M.C. co-creator Elgin James, who is leading the efforts on the Prison Break pilot as writer and executive producer. Bourne also starred in James’ feature debut in the indie drama Little Birds (2011).

Mark Dobies, an actor best known for his portrayal as Dr. Noah Chase on “Guiding Light” and District Attorney Daniel Colson on “One Life to Live,” has died. He was just 65 years old.

Born Mark Steven Dobies on April 3, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the late actor passed away on Tuesday, March 11 in Dunellan, New Jersey, although no official cause of death was announced.

An obituary posted on the Apyre National Cremation Services website notes Dobies was a “loving father, accomplished athlete, and talented actor.”

During his school days, Dobies earned a football scholarship to attend Delaware Valley University (then Delaware Valley College), where he and his teammates won the school its first Middle Atlantic Conference football championship in 1980. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from the school, and later a Master of Science from Easter College, with certifications in weight management and as a senior population specialist.

In recent years, seeing a show with tons of intrigue and a high-quality concept get axed after one season has become an unfortunate trend. Many point fingers at Netflix, a streaming service that has been continuously canceling beloved shows before they get a second season. However, while Netflix has received backlash for many undeserving cancelations, other networks and services have done it before.

What stings the most about these specific series is how many fresh and promising ideas they contain. These shows could have been memorable additions to their respective genres, yet their one-season run hindered that potential. Michelle Trachtenberg, best known to TV viewers for her runs as Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s kid sis Dawn and Gossip Girl‘s Georgina Sparks, was found dead on Wednesday in a New York City apartment near Columbus Circle. She was 39.

Some awful news that by the sounds of it had been coming for a little while. Writer and producer Roberto Orci has died at the age of 51. He had apparently been suffering from kidney disease. He passed away at his home in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Roberto Orci’s work has been across a number of Hollywood’s biggest franchises over the last decade or two. He co-wrote and co-produced JJ Abrams’ Star Trek big screen reboot, and also worked on the first two Transformers films for Michael Bay.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Orci moved to the United States with his family when he was 10. He started off as a writer on Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and for most of his career was partnered with Alex Kurtzman.

Orci was co-writer/producer on the 2009 Star Trek movie reboot and its two sequels as well as on the 2007 Transformers movie and the 2009 followup Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Orci’s feature credits also include writing work on Mission Impossible III and producing on the Now You See Me franchise, The Proposal as well as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which he also co-wrote.

The work of legendary film producer Irwin Allen is getting a second shot at life with a planned series of modern reboots from Legendary Television, Deadline reports this afternoon.

Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman is on board to resurrect the classic science fiction TV shows Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, and The Time Tunnel.

Deadline notes in today’s exclusive report, “Goldsman and Legendary Television are crafting a unified vision for these stories, bringing modern sensibilities to their timeless appeal, and expanding upon his success in revitalizing the Star Trek universe.”

“Jon Jashni serves as executive producer, guiding this effort to reintroduce these popular franchises to a new generation, with Derek Thielges co-producing,” the report continues.

In Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964-1968), “The submarine Seaview is commissioned to investigate the mysteries of the seas. Usually it finds more problems than answers.”

Netflix just canceled its best answer yet to Yellowstone and it may be a mistake!

There's an old rule in television that when a show is a hit, you're going to see a lot of copycats trying to capture the same success. Thus, when Yellowstone became a sensation, it's no shock that other streamers would try their own shows of a family of ranchers fighting for control.

Among them was Territory, an Australian series that was released globally in October 2024. The six-episode series was pushed well with hopes of a second year.

Sadly, that won't happen as C21 Media confirms the series won't be returning for a second year. In a rarity, Netflix issued a statement on the cancellation from Que Min Luu, Netflix's director of content for Australia and New Zealand.

The long-gestating Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake that's in the works from A24 seems to be back on track after the departure of showrunner Bryan Fuller last year caused it to undergo a complete overhaul. Brad Caleb Kane, who recently wrapped production on the It prequel series Welcome to Derry, is now running the show, and we have our first bit of casting news that Linda Cardellini is in talks to play Pamela Voorhees.

The news comes by way of industry insider Jeff Sneider (via Bloody Disgusting), so take it with a grain of salt right now until it's been confirmed by other sources, but if true, Cardellini would be the first official cast member for Crystal Lake. First announced in 2022, the show is described as an "expanded prequel" to the popular slasher franchise, and will focus on not only Pamela, but her son Jason as well.

It sure didn’t take time for Detective Harper to find her footing after her traumatic serial killer scare in the fourth episode of “The Rookie” Season 7, which left the seasoned detective temporarily paralyzed and truly rattled for the first time in a long time.

But the fifth episode of Season 7, titled “Til Death,” found Nyla back on her game in a big way, doggedly pursuing the serial killer, and embracing some of her undercover training to charm and disarm her suspect.

“I think what’s kind of fun is that she comes in and she’s almost flirty with him,” Cox told TheWrap of the cat-and-mouse dynamic between Nyla and her suspect. “Fringe” and “Big Sky” actor Seth Gabel steps in as the vending machine supplier, Glasser, who catches Nyla’s eye as the prime suspect during her investigation.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer concluded in 2003 after seven seasons on the air, and remains a beloved and influential show to this day. There's been talk over the years of rebooting Buffy, with original series creator Joss Whedon working with showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen on a new show a while back. But that idea fizzled out a couple of years ago, probably because Whedon was accused of toxic behavior on his sets and has since been excommunicated from Hollywood.

But lately there have been signs of something stirring, with original series star Sarah Michelle Gellar coming around to the idea of a revival. “I always used to say no because it’s in its bubble, and it’s so perfect,” she said last month. "But watching [recent reboot shows] Sex And The City and seeing Dexter, and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ‘Well, maybe.'”

Variety has learned from sources that a sequel series to the beloved show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.

Sources say that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final talks to once again play the iconic title character in the untitled project, although it would focus on a new Slayer and Gellar would appear in a recurring role rather than leading the series.

Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are attached to write, showrun, and executive produce. Chloé Zhao is attached to direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. Gellar would also executive produce along with Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce. Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton were all executive producers on the original “Buffy” series.

Currently in its fourth episode, The Rookie Season 7 promises the appearance of a fan-favorite star in a guest role in next week’s episode. TVLine can confirm that Seth Gabel, who portrayed agent Lincoln Lee on Fox’s sci-fi series Fringe will put on his creepy suit once again to feature in the “Til Death” episode of The Rookie. The actor is set to appear midway through the installment to kick off a multiple-episode arc as a vending machine supplier and person of interest named Glasser.

AMC Networks has revealed the official trailer and key art for Dark Winds Season 3, which will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. The first two seasons of the critically lauded series have perfect 100-point scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

The expanded third season, featuring eight episodes, picks up six months after the events of Season 2 and follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate the disappearance of two boys, with only an abandoned bicycle and blood-stained patch of ground left in their wake.

Meanwhile, Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) attempts to settle into her new life 500 miles from home with the Border Patrol but stumbles across a conspiracy involving human and drug smuggling with far-reaching implications.

It's been a while since "Star Trek" fans have gotten a new movie, and even longer since we've gotten a movie that doubles as an introduction to a new slate of characters. "Star Trek: Section 31" is full of surprises, from its surprisingly light tone to its subversive use of pre-existing cultural lore from the "Star Trek" universe. (A non-celibate Deltan! A laughing Vulcan!) One of its biggest surprises, though, is that despite having been refashioned from a TV show to a TV movie, "Star Trek: Section 31" signs off as if its newbies are going to stick around.

Given the final tease that sees the Section 31 team take on a new assignment from Control (played by Jamie Lee Curtis), this may not be the last we see of Chameloid Quasi (Sam Richardson), Augment Alok (Omari Hardwick), Deltan Melle (Humberly Gonzalez...

HBO’s The Last of Us is one of those rare video game adaptations that worked almost as well as its source material. Based on the incredible games by Naughty Dog, the show starred Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as the leads, going on a cross-country adventure in a zombie-infested apocalyptic world.

Anna Torv’s Tess is one of the most memorable among the many guest stars who appear in each episode. Her relationship with Joel at the beginning of the series and her ultimate sacrifice are endearing and heartbreaking. However, she is involved in one of the most disgusting scenes in the show, but thankfully, Torv did not have to perform it for real.

Jeannot Szwarc, known in part for directing the first sequel to Steven Spielberg's Jaws along with Helen Slater's Supergirl movie, has passed away. He was 87 years old.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Szwarc died on Tuesday due to respiratory failure while at Central Hospital in Loches, France. Jane Seymour, sho co-starred with Superman actor Christopher Reeve in Szwarc's 1980 film Somewhere in Time, also commented on the filmmaker's passing with a statement shared on social media.

“Jeannot Szwarc was not just a brilliant director but a kind and generous soul,” she Seymour said. “He gifted us many timeless stories, including Somewhere in Time, a film that changed my life forever. May his memory be a blessing, and may his artistry live on in our hearts.”
