Virgo and the Sparklings

Out of Curiosity since I've already watched the Gundala and Sri Asih. Overall this movie is a good to watch, kinda like a lite version of Spiderman. It revolves about a teenager with some power to fight the bad guy.

The pros : Has a nice story flow, really easy to understand it. Really described the atmosphere of High School Girl, seasoned with some bullying, romance, and some little jokes (there's some "adult" one though). Actors and actresses even they can be count as a "new" in the acting world but still they can give their best performances.

The Cons : Sometimes there's a scene that feels so weird if u have watched a better CGI, the story feels rushed up (well, that's what u get for summarizing from comic/webtoon).

Still not explained how they got their powers (unlike Gundala and Sri Asih), if u wanna watch full fledged action movies this is not for u (like spiderman the heroes really has a strong moral codes not to kill). And like a teenager they tend to wishy washy sometimes or in other times just rushing straight through like a bull.

In overall its a good movie to watch 7.5/10.

I find this movie is quite entertaining and enjoyable to watch at least the beginning half.

It was a good start where complexity presented in simple funny and cute scene. And I like it how the dialog were simple and no theatrical overacting of the casts.

And I appreciate how bullying at high school tend to be fight in a smart and cute way, no violence needs to be used.

The special effects look cheap, but it fine since it was Indonesian movie with relatively low budget.

I've watched Gundala and Sri Asih before this, and honestly Virgo is more entertaining than Sri Asih, not because different theme but more on the story line.

Just enjoy....

What makes it GOOD?

1. Compared to previous BumiLangit films, this one offers a fresh atmosphere with a light and fun storyline.

2. The elements of action, comedy, and even romance have the right proportions and do not interfere with each other.

3. Despite the low budget, the visual effects are okay and I also really like the editing when displaying social media.

4. The songs are nice, but the dubbing is too obvious.

5. The plot twist is more reasonable and acceptable than the one in Sri Asih.

What makes it BAD?

1. It is not known where Riani's fire came from and there is no explanation of how her fire can heal.

2. The main villain isn't given enough screen time to make us sympathize.

3. Due to its fast pace, the film feels like an overly condensed summary.

In conclusion, not as good as Sri Asih which I reviewed, but slightly better than Gundala :)

Overall, Virgo and the Sparklings gave us a slight "Ms. Marvel" vibes with a mix of "Spiderman: Homecoming" and it is really effective to those who read the WebToon Comic series, and for those teenagers out there who does not know Bumilangit exist could start with this movie first.

I know that this movie seems to suck but it REALLY NOT! The only thing that i didn't like about this movie is that the Fire VFX for Riani's power is inconsistent, sometimes its REALLY GOOD, sometimes its REALLY BAD.

After all "Virgo and the Sparklings" have a potential to awaken those fellow Indonesians who dont know BCU exist.
