This episode marks the only time that Liam James (young Shawn) and James Roday Rodriguez (adult Shawn) appear on-screen together. Shawn would again share screen time with his younger self in The Polarizing Express (2010) (season 5); however, by then, the role of young Shawn had been recast with Skyler Gisondo.

Goofs
Shawn tells Gus that he wanted to be the Milwaukee Brewers' mascot, a giant sausage, when he grew up. The Brewers' mascot is actually Bernie Brewer, a blonde German man with a large mustache. (However, Milwaukee home games traditionally feature "giant sausage" races during the seventh inning.)
