Vick's Chip is an interesting appetizer of "Terminator: The Sarah Conor Chronicles" for the next and last episode of the season
tavm15 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This episode, Vick's Chip, was the first of a two-hour season finale to air. Derek finds the chip that Cameron took from the Terminator leaving Sarah and John expressing doubts about her intentions. Cameron declares she just wanted to find info about Vick that may provide more clues about how to destroy Skynet. So John watches on his computer screen the POV from Vick concerning his wife Barbara who was an employer in charge of a traffic system that led to the Skynet's creation. Since Barbara is later seen on the chip recording as being murdered, Sarah orders for her body's search in the woods. The corpse found there is not her but someone else who was against the renovations. Sarah and Derek go underground to try to sabotage the traffic lights but are caught by cops so they run for their lives. Later, Derek and John take Cameron's chip to the traffic source and successfully cause a jam delaying any possibility for Skynet to form. Oh, two more things here: Sarah reveals to Derek that she knows he murdered Andy and if he lies to her again she'll kill him and Cromartie, still disguised as an FBI agent named Laslo, is diverted in his search for John Connor by Cameron using John's friend as the one who identifies himself as his alias name...Pretty good if not great episode of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" that provided a nice backstory about this Vick and his attempts to get what he was ordered for before killing his "wife" when all was accomplished. Interesting contrast between Sarah who worries about people dying for their causes and Cameron who dismisses the corpse in the woods as "meat and bones". With that, let's go on the the next episode...

Inside the mind of a Terminator
Tweekums3 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Derek discovers the control chip from the Terminator known as Vick in Cameron's room he takes it as proof of her untrustworthiness; she explains that it contains his memories so could be of vital use to them. John starts to look at the data on the chip and finds evidence that Vick was 'married' to the woman designing the city's traffic control system. It seems fairly innocuous but they fear it could be the precursor to Skynet's equivalent of a central nervous system; as such they must find a way to destroy it. Meanwhile Cromartie is going to every local school posing a cop to find John; some quick thinking from Cameron keeps John out of danger… for the time being at least.

This was another enjoyable episode; it was fascinating to see Vick's memories as it taught us, and the Connors, more about just how far a terminator will go to get close to the people they use; it also showed us that even their chips have the potential to be dangerous. The action scenes where Sarah and Derek break into city hall were pretty good even if they were fairly short. As is often the case Cameron's actions where the most interesting part of the show; we see her plausibly explain the reason for lying about the chip, manipulate another child to get John out of trouble and finally trust John enough to remove her own control chip so it can be used to destroy the new traffic system when she has no guarantee that Derek will let him put it back. Much of the reason for her being such a fascinating character is the superb performance of Summer Glau; she makes Cameron seem not quite human but equally not quite machine which make her an enigma who we think can be trusted but can't be one hundred percent sure.

Behind Masks

When Derek finds a Terminator's chip in Cameron's room, he uses it to try to prove to Sarah and John that she cannot be trusted. However she explains that she kept the chip because there are videos that they can use in their fight. They discover the importance of the traffic system and Sarah uses a virus created by John to commit sabotage against the computerized system of Los Angeles. Meanwhile Cromartie is trying to locate John chasing the list of enrolled students.

"Vick's Chip" is another entertaining episode of this series. The mistrust of Derek with Cameron is affecting their relationship in the house. The monologue of Sarah about the uses of masks of people is interesting. My vote is eight.

Fighting The Fire With Fire

I liked it but it was a little lower that the others. But I liked that John is not this programming genius. And now there is someone (or something?) whom trust is doubtful.

Gridlock...

If there's one thing I'm happy to offer, it's that Sarah is no philosopher, great at a fight, cunning and quite bright, but her words at the end have absolutely nothing to proffer.

Last few episodes have been a bit poor, hope the season finale doesn't fall through a trap door (it does).
