It’s the summer of screams on Screambox!

If you thought you’d seen it all when it came to Superheroes, the mega hit series ‘The Boys’ by Amazon Prime Original series made everyone eat humble pie. The series offers an alternative take on the superhero world and the way they are perceived in a way beyond your wildest imagination.

Hulu is upping its horror game with titles such as “American Psycho,” “Anaconda” starring Jennifer Lopez, and “The Blair Witch Project.” The films will also appear alongside some more lighthearted content, including Season 5 of “Black-ish,” Season 9 of “Bob’s Burgers,” and Season 16 of “Family Guy.”

Halloween is on the horizon, and Netflix is getting ready by adding a host of new horror flicks to the streaming platform this October.

“The Shining” will be available starting Oct. 1. Later in the month, “Truth or Dare” with Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey, along with “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” and the Netflix original “The Haunting of Hill House” will be added. For non-horror fans, several stand-up comedy specials are joining the slate including Kevin Hart’s “Laugh at My Pain” and Adam Sandler’s “100% Fresh.”

A number of new show seasons are also premiering, including the second seasons of “Making a Murderer” and “Big Mouth,” as well as the third season of “Marvel’s Daredevil.” Netflix is also acquiring a host of other films such as “She’s Out of My League,” “The NeverEnding Story,” “V for Vendetta,” “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” and the “Blade” franchise.

Netflix has confirmed that 57 new original series, movies and specials will be debuting on the streaming service in October, including the second seasons of “Big Mouth,” “Castlevania” and “Little Things” as well as season 3 of “Daredevil.”

And there will also be new to Netflix seasons of some of your favorites from other networks, including the fourth season of two very different shows – Disney’s “Sofia the First” and Fox’s “Gotham.” Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first Netflix appearances including the red-hot Oscar contender “The Kindergarten Teacher.”

October is the perfect time for Netflix and Chilling, with colder, more blustery days and darker, scarier nights.

The streamer has you covered with the release of “Daredevil” Season 3 on Oct. 19, the long awaited premiere of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Oct. 26, as well as the release of the horror series “The Haunting of Hill House” on Oct. 12.

Other October highlights include the “Adam Sandler 100% Fresh” comedy special on Oct. 23, “Making A Murderer Part 2” on Oct. 19 and Maggie Gyllenhaal in “The Kindergarten Teacher” on Oct. 12.

Just in time for the Halloween movie-going season, Netflix is bringing out the big guns, offering up Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” as one of its marquee titles new to the service next month. Consider it a peace offering of sorts, as the rest of the month isn’t exactly bursting with other horror picks, beyond Mickey Liddell’s “The Haunting of Molly Hartley,” Jeff Wadlow’s “Truth or Dare,” and the decidedly creepy Dirty Harry feature “The Dead Pool.”

Want something lighter? There are a number of comedies arriving on Netflix in October, including “Billy Madison,” “Blazing Saddles,” plus a pair of Monty Python features — “The Meaning of Life” and “Life of Brian,” which will arrive together on October 2. The streaming giant is also offering up some modern rom-coms to take the edge off a month of thrills and chills, including “Must Love Dogs,” “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,...

Amazon Prime has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in July, including the first seasons of both the Indian reality competition series “Comicstaan” and the Tour de France travelogue “Eat.Race.Win” and season 4 of the charming children’s series “Tumble Leaf.”

And there will also be new to Amazon Prime seasons of some of your favorites from other networks, including the final episodes of the Emmy-winning FX drama “The Americans,” all 12 seasons of the groundbreaking police drama “NYPD Blue” and all seven seasons of the Kyra Sedgwick crime series “The Closer.”

Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime including the four films in the “Jaws” franchise and the Oscar-winning “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Amazon Prime members who like tragic spies, sparkle vampires, being-depressed-about-global-warming or old school television have plenty to look forward to in July, as the streaming service is adding a ton of new movies and TV shows.

On the TV front, three new Prime Originals come this month, including Indian stand up series “Comicstaan” on July 13, “Tumble Leaf” on July 24, and “Eat. Race. Win,” a behind-the-scenes look of the Tour de France landing July 27.

The streaming service is also giving members a visit from the Ghost of TV Past on July 1 when it adds undercover-cops-in-high-school Fox series “21 Jump Street,” the complete run of USA Network’s “Burn Notice,” and all 12 seasons of ’90s cop drama “NYPD Blue,” among others.

And skipping ahead to month’s end, “The Americans” season 6 lands on Prime July 29.

We've grown accustomed to the list of Netflix new releases for each month swelling but the new releases for October 2018 are something else entirely. Netflix is going to follow up what was already a packed September with original releases with a month that has even more high profile originals.

Netflix favorites, Big Mouth, Daredevil, and Castlevania all debut new seasons this month. In addition to those though comes the launching of several other surefire hits. The Haunting of Hill House, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Bodyguard all begin in October.

Veteran distributor Susan Jackson, who co-founded indie film distribution label Freestyle Releasing in 2004, died Tuesday morning in Los Angeles after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 54. The UK-born Jackson dove into the distribution game after serving in exec positions in sales, acquisitions and marketing at the Samuel Goldwyn Co, Vestron, Goodtimes, BMG/Bertelsmann, Sony and the BBC. She headed BMG Independents, snagging rights to indie titles for BMG’s North American Video and DVD collection.

In 1999, she founded independent sales company Turtles Crossing in Los Angeles. Three years later, she became more directly involved in filmmaking as executive producer of Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, which she helped finance and sold to Lionsgate out of the Toronto Film Festival. Similarly, she helped finance, co-produce and sold the Juno Temple starrer Dirty Girl in 2010 out of Tiff.

The co-founder of Freestyle Releasing and executive producer on Cabin Fever died on Tuesday (October 14) following a long battle with breast cancer. She was 54.

UK-born Jackson, formerly Rosenberg, was surrounded by family and friends in her last days.

Jackson was in distribution for 20 years and served in senior executive roles at The Samuel Goldwyn Company, Vestron, Goodtimes, BMG/Bertelsmann, Sony and the BBC.

Her last corporate job before launching her own company was heading up BMG Independents in New York.

Jackson moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and founded the sales company Turtles Crossing.

Five years later she co-founded with Mark Borde Freestyle Releasing. Some of Freestyle’s most successful releases include The Illusionist, The Haunting Of Molly Hartley, The Collector and most recently the faith-based hit God’s Not Dead. Nicolas Cage starrer Left Behind is currently in theatres.

The film is based on the 1980s television show, which starred Edward Woodward as retired intelligence officer Robert McCall, who has a habit of helping people in trouble.

Washington will star as McCall, who is working at a Home Depot but becomes embroiled with the Russian mob after helping a young prostitute (Moretz).

Leo will play his former supervisor. Bennett's role remains unconfirmed.

The reason for this is fairly obvious: teenagers haven’t learned enough yet to avoid doing the wrong things that characters in movies shouldn’t do. Teenagers haven’t learned enough about love to avoid the wrong relationship, haven’t learned enough about crime to avoid getting caught, haven’t learned enough about necromancy to avoid reading from the Book of the Dead. So it’s not necessarily a bad thing to say that Mo Ogrodnik’s Deep Powder employs a number of plot or character points that have been seen before – these teenagers will have to learn their lessons the hard way, as all movie teenagers do.

Dimension and The Weinstein Company have announced their new horror 'Kristy' from director Oliver Blackburn, who helmed British thriller 'Donkey Punch' back in 2008. 'Kristy' is being described as a 'Rosemary's Baby' type horror flick and is set to star the gorgeous Haley Bennett ('The Hole', 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley'). A few days ago the Weinsteins also announced another due horror release for 2013, namely 'Satanic'. This is also reportedly a feature set to star Miss Bennett (below). So could we have some mixed reports coming in here and 'Satanic' and 'Kristy' are one of the same, or can we expect a double hit of horror from Bennett next year? Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Rumored last week, "The Grey" and "Warrior" actor Frank Grillo is now confirmed to be playing Crossbones in Marvel Studios' upcoming sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

In the comics, Crossbones is a highly trained mercenary who played a major role in the assassination of Steve Rogers. Other now confirmed returning cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders and Sebastian Stan. [Source: Variety]

Excision means removal by cutting cut. With that being said maybe you’ve learned something, so this review won’t be a complete waste of time. I may even be able to save you a bit of time by telling you that Excision is definitely worth seeing. Reading the rest of this review won’t spoil its rather knotted twist, but if you were looking for a movie to watch that’ll get under your skin, make for a great conversation starter after a few cocktails and leave you with a permanent case of “what the fuck was that?” I can say you’ve found it. Last week, Freestyle Releasing acquired the theatrical rights to Jinn, a supernatural thriller that stars Ray Park (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, X-men) as Gabriel, an awesome looking creature based on folklore. We also have the Firebreather, a “V8, 618 horsepower super exotic American muscle car with 50 limited editions being produced as the exact replica of the vehicle in the film” and based on a fifth generation Chevy Camaro. The film comes from Exxodus Pictures, a Detroit based company, so the car is an ode to the Detroit automobile industry.

Anchor Bay have announced that they intend to drop the gruesome Richard Bates Jr. horror flick 'Excision' onto both DVD and Blu-ray across the Us from 16 October.
