- TriviaThe original unaired pilot was filmed entirely on location at 1329 Carroll Avenue (the house used for all exterior shots and filming for Charmed). Once the role of Phoebe was recast to Alyssa Milano, shooting for the interior shots of the house took place on a sound stage. One shot from the original unaired pilot does remain in the aired pilot: when the sisters receive their powers and powerful blue lights radiate from the chandelier in the living room. This shot was filmed in the actual house on Carroll Avenue.
- Quotes
Prue Halliwell: The Chosen Ones, The Charmed Ones. Phoebe, this is insane.
Phoebe Halliwell: Are you telling me that nothing strange happened to you today? You didn't freeze time or move anything?
Prue Halliwell: Roger took an exhibit away from me. Look, Phoebe, you may think that you can see the future, which is pretty ironic...
Phoebe Halliwell: Since you don't think I have one? That my vision of life is cloudy, compared to your perfect hell? Even if you don't want to believe me, just once can't you trust me?
Prue Halliwell: I do not have special powers.
[cream pitcher moves]
Phoebe Halliwell: Really?
Phoebe Halliwell: Looks pretty special to me.
Prue Halliwell: Oh, my God. It just... So, um... I can move things with my mind?
Phoebe Halliwell: With how much you hold inside, you should be a lethal weapon by now.
Prue Halliwell: I don't believe it, but it's true.
Phoebe Halliwell: This must mean that Piper can freeze time. Are you okay?
Prue Halliwell: No, I'm not okay! You've turned me into a witch!
Phoebe Halliwell: You were born one. We all were. And I think we better start learning to deal with that.

This feels not as magical, I like how some scenes were shot in different ways. Like the framing of the introduction of Prue, the way Piper comes in and the camera shows both girls.. some other scenes, but none would have sticked out really if I wasn't comparing the two pilots. The pacing and the landing of every scene just isn't there, it feels obvious what's the set-up and it misses that. It misses the power of one in a way, Alyssa Milano really was the glue that made it work, without the second attempt it feels like a made for TV movie and not the weekly cinematic movie it became.
I'm glad they managed to bring in some magic that Charmed people, but this was not it.
I gave this a 6 it's probably closer to 5 than 7. I would give the aired pilot an 8, closer to 9 but not a 10.
