The cast and crew were female-led and demographically diverse with the team members of Jamaican, Brazilian, Laotian, Mexican, Jewish, Fillipina and American descent.
Due to a limited budget, the Director also occupied the role of Casting Director, SFX Supervisor, Editor, Sound Designer, HR/Payroll manager and Composer.
In the scene were Cassidy walks through the kitchen trying to identify the source of the sound she heard through the darkness, the Demon actually stands visible in the patio window that she passes.
"Kalimba" was the first SAG-AFTRA short film shot in the city of Temple.
The short was filmed in Writer/Director Robbie J. Atkinson's childhood home.
