Longtime friends and collaborators, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, reunite once more in this new biopic, charting the explosive birth of the iconic Saturday Night Live comedy program on the US TV network NBC.
Set in the frantic 90 minutes before the show’s inaugural episode aired, Saturday Night expertly captures the unpredictable, high-stakes nature of live television, weaving in biting humour, personal conflicts, and the birth of a cultural phenomenon.
Reitman and Kenan’s script balances tension and comedy, paying homage to the anarchic energy of SNL’s origins while offering insight into the fragile egos, narcotic excesses and volatile personalities that shaped its creation.
The film opens on October 11, 1975, with a visibly stressed Lorne Michaels, portrayed with nuance and gravitas by The Fabelmans star Gabriel Labelle, entering NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza in preparation for the first show. Outside he is greeted by a stressed out NBC page (Stanger Things...

Gil Kenan, the writer and director behind Netflix's A Boy Called Christmas revealed where he is in the process of creating a sequel.
The story followed the tale of Nikolas, as told by an aunt to two children under her care, a young boy who would one day go on to become Santa Claus after discovering the fabled village of Elfhelm.
Netflix's film was actually based on a book by the same name, which is the first of three in a series.

Matt Haig’s vampire novel The Radleys is heading to the screen courtesy of Sky Cinema, and here’s the trailer.
The first novel from acclaimed writer Matt Haig to be adapted for the screen was A Boy Called Christmas. Directed by Gil Keenan and co-written by Keenan and Ol Parker, the plot followed a boy and his talking mouse, who spring into action to save the land of the elves. It is available to watch on Sky Cinema.
Haig’s 2017 novel The Radleys has now been adapted for the screen. The synopsis reads as follows:
The Radleys are an ordinary family who hold a dark secret… they are abstaining vampires. As if being a teenager wasn’t bad enough, bloodthirsty instincts take over the teens of the family revealing the terrifying truth and opening the door for an extended family member to re-enter and upend The Radleys’ once perfect slice of suburbia.

‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers for the week of Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30 reveal the news is not good for Laura Collins (Genie Francis). We’ll also see Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) in the wake of this news. Plus, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) is in a mess. Here’s what you need to know.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers For the Week of Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30: Bad news
First, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal Lulu Spencer gets a terminal diagnosis. We’re not sure that will stick, though. Previous actress Emme Rylan mentioned they were recasting the role. It’s strange to think they’d do that just to kill the character off.
Whatever the exact diagnosis is, we know it has to do with the liver, and we’re guessing she’ll need a transplant. On Monday, August 26, Laura will be shocked and devastated by the news, but she’ll also be angry.

Based on the novel Conjure Wife by Fritz Leiber – a story so good it’s been filmed three times – Night Of The Eagle (also known as Burn, Witch, Burn) is a taut and terrifying film that provides genuine chills, as well as a horrifying twist, and remains a much-loved cult classic to this day. General Hospital spoilers reveal Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) may not know it yet, but it would appear he has struck paydirt. Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) trip to visit him in Pentonville was mostly laced with good intentions, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t suspect Ava wanted to rub salt in Nik’s broken-hearted wounds.
Here he is, trapped in a cell without any means of recapturing Ava’s heart — and she’s showing up to let him know she’s over the moon to be shacking up with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Showing him her hand might not have been her smartest move though. Now, Nikolas knows exactly how Ava is getting what she wants — and he may soon figure out how to take it away while suiting his own agenda instead.

General Hospital spoilers claim Ava Jerome (Maura West) is playing with serious fire by looping Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) in on what’s going down at Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) place.
Nikolas could see the pure satisfaction all over Ava’s face. She has managed to manipulate another man into falling for her and isolating himself away from those who truly care about him just to hole up with Ava — the only person left in his corner. Sound familiar? Nikolas seemed jealous, and rightfully so.
The last time he and Ava spoke before he was allegedly going to dip out of town forever, neither of them really wanted to say their goodbyes.
They were both full of regret and longing for each other all over again. Has Ava’s attraction to Sonny made her forget all about her ex-husband. His incarceration probably didn’t help matters.

The Ghostbusters: Afterlife (watch it Here) sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (which, of course, also serves as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II) is now in theatres – and in the review of the film that was written by JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray (you can read it at This Link), Bumbray said that it feels like it was “aimed at building the franchise out more extensively.” While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, franchise co-creator Dan Aykroyd hinted that we could see the franchise expand with globe-trotting adventures.
Aykroyd said, “We like New York, but that’s not to say that we couldn’t make New York the base and travel off somewhere else. But… hey, there are ghosts around the world.“
While the first two films and Frozen Empire are set in New York, Afterlife took place in Oklahoma. It sounds like Aykroyd wouldn’t mind seeing the...

Something strange is happening in the neighborhood. Time to call the Ghostbusters. Sony has just released the final trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. While it’s been addressed in past trailers and TV spots that this new evil entity that is taking over New York City can scare people to death, and there’s been a mention of a “ghost army,” this final trailer emphasizes that every ghost that the Ghostbusters have ever caught will be unleashed. This provides an opportunity for the film to showcase old fan favorites as well as make references to the wild, unique ghosts of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon and toy line. The notion of “every ghost they ever caught” sounds like an ultimate final conflict, but director Gil Kenan has stated that he already has ideas for sequels beyond Frozen Empire.

The Ghostbusters: Afterlife (watch it Here) sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (which, of course, also serves as a sequel to the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II) is set to reach theatres on March 22nd – and during an interview with Empire magazine, director/co-writer Gil Kenan revealed that the film draws inspiration from the 1986 – 1991 animated series The Real Ghostbusters‘ willingness to be weird and wild.
Kenan said he appreciated The Real Ghostbusters‘ “wild, original and weird-as-fuck villains. We wanted to bring that show’s looseness and fearlessness to this movie. I think it’s going to surprise people just how big this film is.“
As Empire pointed out, The Real Ghostbusters “unleashed such oddities as a werechicken, a boogeyman, and an alternate reality with ‘Peoplebusters’.” As for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the main villain is something known as the Death Chill, and it also features a giant creature known as the Sewer Dragon.

Marketing materials for the film – which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd – have shown us original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore, played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson, suited up for ghostbusting action alongside their receptionist Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts) and Ghostbusters: Afterlife characters Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), Lucky (Celeste O’Connor), and the Spengler family: Phoebe, Trevor, and Callie. Now Empire magazine has unveiled a new image that introduces inventor Lars Pinfield, a character played by British comedian James Acaster (Hypothetical). The Pinfield image can be seen at the bottom of this article – and seems to give a glimpse of a moment that could be reminiscent of the scenes where 007 would visit armourer Q in his lab, with people conducting experiments in the background.

Very slightly, really. It’s just one week. But at least we’ll be able to see the movie seven days earlier than previously expected. The theatrical release was scheduled for March 29th, but now Deadline has confirmed that it has moved to March 22nd.
And yes, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will screen in IMAX and premium large formats.

A new restoration of the 1959 horror film on Blu-ray and DVD, and making its UK digital debut, Horrors Of The Black Museum, starring Michael Gough and directed by Arthur Crabtree (Fiend Without a Face), marked the first film in the “Sadian Trilogy”, followed by the Hammer favourite Circus of Horrors and Michael Powell’s infamous Peeping Tom – introducing cinema audiences to a more shocking and salacious brand of onscreen horror.
A series of grisly, macabre murders sweep London and leave Scotland Yard completely baffled. Bancroft, an evil crime journalist, is hypnotising his assistant to commit murders using items curated in his own personal “Black Museum” – inspired by the infamous real-life collection of weapons and torture instruments used by criminals. October 11th, 1975 marked the first time a group of comedians did sketch comedy Live from New York — on Saturday Night Live, at least. Per Deadline, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are helming a film about that very day, and how the legendary NBC show began.
Reitman and Kenan, the team behind 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will co-write the film for Sony, while Reitman will direct. The movie will be set on the day of the first SNL broadcast, with the screenplay coming from extensive interviews with the show’s living cast, writers, and crew.
The as-yet-untitled project follows an overall producing deal the filmmakers signed with Sony Pictures after the success of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The next film in the beloved franchise will be directed by Kenan, whose previous projects include Monster House and A Boy Called Christmas. Reitman, meanwhile, notably helmed Juno and Up in the Air, and served as a producer on Jennifer’s Body.
