Image
There are some team-ups that you just don’t expect. One of those is coming to Peacock, as The Miniature Wife finds its lead cast. This comedy series sounds like a blast.

There is little known about the series and the characters just yet. However, with the casting alone, this is sure to be a series to watch out for. Plus, Peacock does well with these types of comedy shows, offering something light in the midst of all the darker television that is out there.

Matthew Macfadyen is joined by Elizabeth Banks in The Miniature Wife

Succession star Matthew Macfadyen will join The Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks in the new Peacock show. They will lead the one-hour comedy series, which focuses on a power struggled between husband and wife when there’s a technical mishap. Yes, they are the husband and wife, and we can just see how it will all play out now.

How New Jersey Landed Netflix
Image
Look what’s growing in the Garden State.

The Hollywood Reporter was on-site Tuesday morning when Netflix broke ground on its new East Coast home, Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth in central New Jersey. (Yes, there is a central New Jersey.) The gigantic renovation project — in which Netflix will turn a long-abandoned U.S. Army base into a dozen soundstages, a backlot, state-of-the-art postproduction facilities, general office space and basically 500,000 square feet of all things Netflix — was brought to you by one thing: tax credits.

You might want to take some notes here, California.

Before a wrecking ball even thrice ceremoniously slammed into some random, already-crumbling decommissioned military building (we were provided with hard hats, thank you for your concern), and before the pork roll, egg and cheese sandwiches were handed out to guests in attendance, including The Sopranos creator David Chase, Netflix had seven productions currently filming in New Jersey. In the coming years,...

‘Boardwalk Empire’ Star Michael Pitt Arrested For Allegedly Attacking Ex With Cinder Block
Image
On May 2, Boardwalk Empire star Michael Pitt was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse in addition to counts of strangulation in the second degree, assault with a blunt object and several other counts.

According to court records, four incidents allegedly occurred at Pitt’s home in Brooklyn between April 2020 and August 2021.

Pitt’s lawyer, Jason Goldman, said the situation is a sad reflection on our society.

“Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unreliable individual,” he said in a statement. “In reality, this baseless claim is suspiciously raised some four or five years after the alleged incident, from a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual relationship. We look forward to proving his innocence through the evidence and not through the media.

Spider-noir First Look Reveals Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir In Upcoming Amazon MGM+ TV Series
Image
With the first Ironheart teaser expected to be released tomorrow and Superman's trailer confirmed for Wednesday, it's shaping up to be a busy week for news.

As for Monday, we're kicking things off with an official look at Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man in Amazon and MGM+'s Spider-Noir TV series.

The wall-crawling private investigator has already been spotted in set photos, but this spectacular black-and-white image is like seeing the comic books—and 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse—come to life in live-action.

Cage can be seen striking an iconic Spider-Man pose and will clearly be able to shoot webs in the show. Whether Spider-Noir can right the ship for Sony after disappointments like Madame Web, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter remains to be seen.

It's interesting that this still has been presented in black-and-white because Spider-Noir star Lukas Haas previously said, "We filmed it in - I...

Tulsa King Season 3: Everything We Know So Far
Image
Sylvester Stallone might have a new title as President Trump's "special ambassador to Hollywood," but he's still sitting on the throne as the "Tulsa King." Yes, the Paramount+ juggernaut, one in a long line of Taylor Sheridan produced series, will be returning for a third season.

It makes sense that actor turned prolific TV creative has been able to create so many of these shows (considering he wrote the "Tulsa King" pilot in less than 24 hours), and yet, despite the quick script, some say "Tulsa King" may be Sheridan's best work (or at least the most entertaining of the bunch). The tale of Dwight "The General" Manfredi (Stallone) and rise from exiled New York mafia soldier to kingpin of Tulsa, Oklahoma has produced some of the funniest, strangest characters in the entire Sheridan universe. It has also helped turn the show into a hit for Paramount+, which has...

Peaky Blinders' Creator Once Directed Jason Statham In A Gritty Crime Thriller
Image
"Peaky Blinders" has enjoyed overwhelming acclaim since its 2013 premiere on BBC One and Two. Even after the show wrapped up its sixth and seemingly final season in 2022, its popularity persisted, shaping cultural discourse surrounding stories of a similar tint. Although "Peaky Blinders" shares tonal similarities with other works, its approach to real-world inspirations feels distinct enough to warrant the reputation that it enjoys.

Series creator Steven Knight understands the complicated appeal of the gangster epic, where even the most morally vacuous characters are afforded nuance. Knight has also made excellent use of a stacked ensemble cast, whose characters navigate circumstances that highlight the human condition within a hyperspecific socio-cultural time period. There's a grittiness to the lives that the Shelbys live, along with the wider societal fabric of Birmingham that is inseparable from its criminal underbelly.

Knight is no stranger to these kinds of stories, as his directorial debut is...

Image
With just weeks to go, the marketing campaign for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is starting to ramp up and Paramount has just shared an insane new featurette, spotlighting the film's high stakes underwater sequence that will be unlike anything you've ever seen on screen.

Teasing the sequence, star/producer Tom Cruise said, "From Legend in 1985 to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, I have been studying and filming underwater sequences for over 40 years. We have always tried to push our filmmaking to the next level… In this movie McQ and I saw an opportunity to create an underwater sequence unlike any other. We are excited to share it with you."

Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning Tracking For Franchise-Best Opening; Plus Popcorn Bucket & New Photos
Image
With a few weeks to go, the first tracking data for Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is out and it seems as though his ace Imf agent Ethan Hunt is gearing up to go out with a bang.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, The Final Reckoning is currently looking at an opening in the $72 million to $88 million range, with box office pundits targeting a $80 million domestic launch over the course of the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend, which would be a franchise-best, topping the $61.2 million three-day launch for Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018.

Meanwhile, Disney's Lilo & Stitch is expected to open around $120 million over the four-day holiday, with projections expecting something in the $110 million to $130 million range, so based on these early estimates, it seems like we're in for one of the biggest movie weekends since 2023's Barbenheimer.

The 25 Saddest TV Character Deaths of This Century
Image
[Editor’s Note: This list was originally published in February 2018. It has been updated to include new shows, including “The Last of Us.”]

Dwelling on death isn’t exactly healthy if you think about it the wrong way — except TV deaths, which leave special, agonizing scars. Losing a TV character you’ve spent years with hits hard, and can often change the course of the series moving forward. Someone like prickly “Succession” patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) was integral not only to the narrative, but to how each and every other character relates to one another and to their core attributes and aspirations. “Succession” was simply not the same show without him. Other deaths devastate you by building up a character into someone you love — which is why so many fans struggled with the gruesome death of Pedro Pascal’s Joel in “The Last of Us.”

To process (or calcify) our feelings, IndieWire’s TV team collected the biggest TV deaths of the 21st century — deaths that were not only shocking and hurtful,...

‘Band of Brothers’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
There are a few shows or movies that set a standard and a template for a whole genre. HBO’s 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers not only did that for war dramas but also launched and boosted many acting careers. The series, created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, presented real-life events of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division throughout World War II.

The ensemble cast of Band of Brothers is one of the main reasons people still remember the show. Apart from playing the roles of soldiers, actors like Scott Grimes as Donald Malarkey, Kirk Acevedo as Joe Toye, and Damian Lewis as Richard Winters made the audience empathize with their losses and wins and connect with their camaraderie. Now, after more than two decades since its premiere, let’s catch up with some of these talented cast members and see what they are up to.

Consumed by a deep and unrelenting hatred for the law, he is determined to deliver justice on his own terms.” While the name is different, fans believe that the character is actually Atrocitus, a character who was forced to witness the death of his wife and children (as well as nearly every living being in his sector) after a rampage of rogue Manhunters. He becomes the leader of the Red Lantern Corps and swears vengeance against the Guardians of the Universe and all who serve them.

Paul Ben-Victor has appeared in many projects, including The Wire, True Detective, The Irishman, Vinyl, and more, but for some reason,...

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Stars Tom Cruise & Hayley Atwell Tease Brutal -40° Shoot In Svalbard
Image
Paramount Pictures has released another amazing new behind-the-scenes featurette from Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, this time shifting the spotlight away from the stunts and onto one of the franchise's most breathtaking shooting locations: Svalbard, Norway!

If you're wondering what brings our heroes to the Arctic, well, it's probably safe to say it'll have something to do with the missing Sevastopol, which sank at the beginning of the previous film.

Dead Reckoning spoilers ahead, but, as we all know now, the completed key that Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) managed to swipe at the end of that film opens a chamber in the Sevastopol that contains the Entity's source code, allowing it to be destroyed or controlled.

The sub's location has remained a mystery until now, but, it looks like, in the two months between adventures, Hunt and company will have cracked its hidding spot in the Arctic Ocean.

How...

Image
A new era of "The Last of Us" brings a brand new cast of survivors and some characters we'll probably end up crying over when they roll up a sleeve and reveal they've been become infected in the post-apocalyptic society. But besides new friendly faces joining the fold, there are also some far colder characters making the tough choices that others daren't make. Among these select few is Isaac Dixon, a former Marine and leader of the Washington Liberation Front (Wlf), who's on a mission to wipe out an opposing faction known as The Seraphites. But who is playing this new authority figure that could clash with our heroes? None other than beloved star, Jeffery Wright.

An Oscar-nominated actor who might have one of the coolest voices in Hollywood, Jeffrey Wright is an all-around brilliant talent that elevates just about anything he puts his name to. But while some other...

Tom Cruise Hangs At 8000 Feet With 140 Mph Winds In New Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Sneak Peek
Image
Paramount Pictures has shared a jaw-dropping new look at Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, offering a quick sneak peek at Tom Cruise's most dangerous stunt yet, as he hangs off the wing of a biplane at 8,000 feet, with winds of over 140 mph blasting!

This stunt, which will undoubtedly be this final installment's signature sequence. has been in the works for several years now, with Cruise ("Ethan Hunt") and director Christopher McQuarrie having meticulously shot it over the last two years. The duo actually first teased the plane sequence at CinemaCon 2023 ahead of the launch of that summer's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning.

The previous installment received widespread critical acclaim and the follow-up is shaping up to bigger and better in every way, as Ethan Hunt and his elite team of Imf operatives race against the clock to stop The Entity once and for all.

Lanterns director on how much the HBO series will be like True Detective
Image
Since its beginning, Lanterns has billed itself as a mystery series similar to True Detective. Speaking with THR, Lanterns director James Hawes believes those comparisons are valid, but adds that the Green Lantern series will have a little more humour.

“Talking tone, it looks and feels rooted. You meet two guys, but there is wit and comedy to it that you would not expect in True Detective,” Hawes said. “It is, in many ways, a buddy cop structure with travel in the story time, to and fro, that is really sophisticated. Chris Mundy has done the most amazing job with the team there, and so I think [the True Detective comparison] is valid. People will still go, ‘What were you talking about?’ to some extent, but I would also bring in No Country for Old Men, Fargo and things that have that Americana heart to them. There’s a wry humor, and so there...

‘The Last of Us' Season 2 Premiere Sees a Massive Outbreak of Viewers
Image
After over two years of anxious waiting — and the occasional infected tease — HBO’s The Last of Us returned with a bang. The Season 2 premiere of the post-apocalyptic drama drew an infectious 5.3 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S. on Sunday night, according to HBO. That marks a 13% increase from its already impressive series debut back in January 2023. Layman's terms: the show that was a hit is now an even bigger hit.

For those keeping score, The Last of Us originally launched to 4.7 million viewers across HBO and what was then called HBO Max — ah, sweet nostalgia — making it HBO’s second-best series premiere in over a decade, just behind Boardwalk Empire’s 2010 debut. And much like the Cordyceps virus outbreak shown in the show, The Last of Us only grew from there. Season 1 saw consistent week-over-week gains, culminating in a finale that pulled in a then-series-high 8.2 million viewers.

‘The Last Of Us’ Renewed For Season 3 At HBO Ahead Of Season 2 Premiere
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in The Last of Us (2023)
HBO has picked up The Last of Us for a third season.

The announcement comes ahead of the anticipated Season 2 debut on April 13. Deadline understands that a decision has not been made yet whether Season 3 will be the series’ last.

Creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin previously told Deadline that they were contemplating up to four total seasons to tell the story laid out across two video games. Season 2 is seven episodes, and the duo sought early on to quell any worry from fans that they would try to wrap up the behemoth that is The Last of Us Part II in such little time.

“It can’t be overemphasized how proud HBO is for the outstanding achievement we believe the second season of The Last of Us is,” Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said in a statement. “Craig, Neil, Carolyn...

Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: Why Does Vanessa Help Fisk?

This is an interesting question. For one, Vanessa (You’s Ayelet Zurer) has elevated the business into something profitable and, in some respects, legitimate. Think of Stringer Bell laundering corner profits in The Wire before Avon Barksdale was released from prison. Eliminating Fisk would solve most of her problems regarding power and control.

Vanessa knows her husband can do more for her in office,...

AMC to Develop Great Depression-Era Novel ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ as Part of Next Franchise Bet
Image
If you’re one of those people who prefer a good book to the boob tube, AMC is about to make you feel conflicted.

On Monday, AMC Networks announced it is developing a new TV franchise produced by AMC Studios and “built on iconic American stories.” Up first: John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath.

“Each season of the anthology series will be devoted to a different celebrated work, historical moment, or individual narrative celebrating and highlighting the American spirit,” the company said. The Great American Stories anthology will air on the AMC cable channel and stream on AMC’s primary streaming service (out of a bunch), AMC+.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Trailer Drops Tomorrow; Tom Cruise Jumps Into Arctic In New Teaser
Image
During last night's Final Four games on CBS, Paramount Pictures announced that the brand new theatrical trailer for Tom Cruise's highly anticipated Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - which originally debuted at CinemaCon last week - will be released online Monday!

Whether it'll drop during the National Championship Game or earlier in the day remains to be seen, but we'd wager on the latter since that's generally when the studio tends to launch new footage. We'd then expect a TV spot to debut during the game, directing fans online to check out the full-length trailer.

Plot details remain under wraps, but we learned at CinemaCon that the film will pick up two months after the events of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) still seemingly on the run and presumably on the hunt for the sunken Sevastopol.

As per Deadline's footage description, here's some...
