While it's NOT the sort of show most folks would choose to watch in the first place, it is very fascinating and worth seeing.
This installment of "Nova" is about the various amazingly preserved so-called 'bog people'. These are folks who in many cases were ritualistically murdered but all have bodies who have turned their flesh into a leathery texture that makes them look very fresh--even though some of them are thousands of years old! I've seen one of these very close up when it used to be on public display at the British Museum and because of this, I wanted to find out more and rented this DVD from Netflix.
The film not only explains about the bog-preserved phenomenon but with several examples they do forensic studies of the bodies and body parts in order to learn more about who these people were, how they were killed and, if possible, how old the bodies are. While it sounds repulsive and probably isn't the sort of film most people would seek out, it's amazing how quickly you get over your squeamishness about these human artifacts. Well done and fascinating--and well worth seeing.
