Slow development- fierce ending!
irishduck200029 October 2006
The weeks of ad campaigns certainly helped to build my anticipation to watch the first episode of the mini series 'Tripping Over.' And I'll admit that whilst the beginning was disappointing, the last half an hour or so was certainly a pleaser. It seems understandable that the beginning would be slightly boring as we are introduced to all the characters and the plot unfolds slowly, however, once things have been pretty much established, the audience are amazed at what follows. I would certainly say that it is a mini-series I will become addicted to, let's just hope they are able to keep the audience interested for the next five eps!

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't know what to think of this cross cultural Aussie/British expose. At first, with all the hype of "the best drama of the year" etc. I was eager to see the most highly anticipated show on TV since the series 2 final of 'Dancing with the Stars'. Within the first minutes we were introduced to a series of very different characters in very different situations but as the minutes trundled away I couldn't help but think I actually don't have any clues as to why this show was made. It almost seemed to be a peep show (in the most non-sexual kind of way) into these five people's lives was all. It didn't seem to have a purpose for its existence but with all that in thought, I just couldn't help but be continuously reminded by the angel on my shoulder that this is indeed highly acclaimed and I must be missing something was all. It wasn't until there was a boat explosion, a death, a bloke 'coming out' and a sex scene, about 36 minutes and 17 seconds into the episode, that I could start to get an inkling of an understanding and start to see a bone structure in this show and just maybe, just maybe why it is rumoured to be a good show. I figure I can justify giving it at least another 3-4 weeks for it to sort itself out other wise it's a no hoper and the critics are wrong. So please Tony Tilse, Sam Miller, Mike Bullen, Andrea Denholm and co. please, please, please give us something wholesome and filling; something to chew on and a bit with a bit of substance. I'm counting on you guys as a lover of good TV and a hater of money and power abuse, show the public, i.e. me, what you guys can do as you have proved in your previous credentials such as Sea Change, Cold Feet and Love is a Four Letter Word just to name a few.
