A year later, Tom Brady is still trying to live down his roast and its adverse effect on his family.
Reflecting on Netflix‘s The Greatest Roast of All Time, the 7x Super Bowl champ said he doesn’t want to see his “kids hurt” the way they did after hearing some of the jokes on the live-streamed event.
“When you were in that moment, in that theater that night at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy. We got done, everybody was on cloud nine. That moment, I’ll never forget. And then I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day,” he said on the Impaulsive podcast. “I felt like a stake through the heart.”
Brady noted that he was fine with the jokes that took a shot at him, but he wasn’t as prepared for those at the expense of ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and their children.

Over the years, few bands have been able to do quotidian grandeur as well as Arcade Fire. A relatability factor propels even their feistiest odes, from 2007’s incantatory “No Cars Go” to 2013’s resplendent “Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice),” and that quality has helped them manage the art-commerce quandary about as well as anyone this side of Radiohead. Can a restive dirge (2004’s erratic fist-raiser “Wake Up”) sell a Spike Jonze movie about a wolf-suited lad to shit-tons of Super Bowl viewers? Why, yes, say these earnest Canadians, who proved their...

The ending of Star Trek: Picard season 3 saw Seven promoted to Captain of the USS Enterprise-g. Seven of Nine was promoted to Captain of the USS Enterprise-g at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 3. However, when the moment came for Captain Seven to order the newest Enterprise to jump to warp speed, Picard season 3 cut away, leaving behind a mystery that has kept fans wondering for over two years.

Well, what a plot twist! Just when we thought Ubisoft would be buried under a mountain of its mistakes, Assassin’s Creed Shadows swooped in like a rogue assassin, slashing its way to the top of the sales charts. Sometimes it’s not the loudest performances or the flashiest storylines that win audiences over, but ones that are built on heart, research, and authenticity. While most portrayals of complex conditions tend to either oversimplify or dramatically exaggerate them, The Accountant did not fall into any of these traps.
But we can’t say the same about other projects, such as the renowned show, The Good Doctor. So let’s look at how a high-octane, action-packed movie outshone a celebrated series in one aspect, not through being flashy or extravagant, but just through fearless authenticity.
How The Accountant quietly outshone The Good Doctor Freddie Highmore in The Good Doctor | Sony Pictures Television
When it comes to autism representation on screen, The Good Doctor and The Accountant take very different approaches, and the experience is also vastly different. In the show, Dr. Shaun Murphy is a young surgical resident with savant syndrome.

Brent Spiner’s take on Data in Star Trek hit deeper than most fans realize. For many on the autism spectrum, Data wasn’t just a quirky android, he was the only character they truly connected with.
Logical, socially awkward, yet deeply curious about emotion, Data mirrored what it felt like to navigate a world that doesn’t always make sense. Spiner once acknowledged this, noting how powerful that connection was.
Long before representation became a buzzword, Data quietly became a beacon for those who felt different. He didn’t just want to be human, he wanted to understand it. And that made all the difference.

Jeri Ryan played Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Voyager and boosted ratings for the series with her appearances. It is no secret that the character was aimed at a younger, male demographic, and her overly s*xualized character was part of the deal. However, Ryan reportedly faced the biggest issues from her lead star, Kate Mulgrew.
It has since been the stuff of legend that Voyager’s Captain Janeway did not approve of Jeri Ryan or Seven of Nine off-screen. Mulgrew also addressed her side of the story and how she felt that the show never needed a s*xualized female character. However, Ryan felt she had a better time, and her character received due credit when she returned for Picard.

Kate Mulgrew will go down in history as one of the lead captains of the Star Trek franchise. While her Captain Janeway may not be as famous as Captain Kirk or Patrick Stewart’s Captain Picard, her performance is one of the biggest reasons why Voyager has the cult following it enjoys now.
Mulgrew has yet to reprise her role in a live-action capacity, though she does voice Captain Janeway in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. However, the actress revealed that there were talks for a Janeway-centered revival, much like Paramount+’s Picard, but it would only happen if the fans wanted it enough.

Star Trek: Voyager’s central conceit was that the eponymous ship was stranded in the Delta Quadrant of the galaxy, 70,000 light years away from Earth. The series shows the 75-year journey of the Voyager and the various alien ships and planets they encounter. The crew is joined by the former Borg drone Seven of Nine in season 4.
The series finale of the show reduced the travel time of the Voyager by a large amount and featured a time-travel storyline, including an encounter with the Borg Queen. However, the show was reportedly also going to kill off Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine. In fact, producer Brannon Braga revealed the death was set up in a previous episode.

Star Trek: Voyager may be one of the black sheep of the franchise, much like Deep Space Nine. However, some episodes prove why the series has a cult following. The season 6 episode ‘Blink of an Eye’ is the series’s highest-rated episode and explores the concept of time dilation in the context of an alien planet where time runs faster.
Time dilation as a concept has been explored many times since, but the most famous one seems to be in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. The sci-fi epic sees the Endurance crew visit Miller’s Planet, where an hour amounts to seven years in Earth time. While the ‘Mountains’ sequence is legendary, Voyager still did time dilation better.

Like other shows in the franchise, Star Trek: Voyager had a soft spot for certain characters and assigned the bulk of the storylines to these select few. While the show boasted of a stellar cast, the series still had Kate Mulgrew’s Captain Janeway and Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine at the center in most episodes.
Jeri Ryan proved to be an asset for the show, driving many viewers, but the attention given to Seven of Nine led to the series sidelining one of the best Vulcans. Tim Russ brought the character of Commander Tuvok to life in the best way possible and the character’s story was also interesting. Alas, he did not get the necessary screentime.

I’m old enough to remember when Jacques Rivette films were the domain of dark-web networks and substandard DVD rips, a conspiratorial network worthy of his cinema. It’s still a little strange seeing that April will feature a 10-film, one-short Criterion Channel program that combines of his canonized masterpieces with decidedly lesser-seens––plus Va Savoir, which I really hope is the recently unearthed four-hour cut for which there’s no substitute. Penélope Cruz is also subject of a retrospective in April, which––more than making me pine for a Rivette collab that never was––will include both Abre Los Ojos and Vanilla Sky, some Almodóvar, and another in the Channel’s ongoing let’s-add-a-Woody-Allen-movie campaign, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Every now and then, a true cinematic classic flies so far under the radar that its destiny to become a cult favorite is clear right from the start. Such was the case with the 2016 mockumentary musical comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which stars Saturday Night Live alumnus and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg as Conner "Kid Conner" Friel, a pop star struggling to go solo after being part of the rap group phenomenon The Style Boyz.
Grossly missed by many upon release, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has now landed on Prime Video, and we urge you to either discover or rediscover this modern comedy masterpiece. Directed by The Lonely Island members Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone and written by and starring fellow The Lonely Island member Andy Samberg, as well as Taccone, and Schaffer, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was co-produced by Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman.

Last December, Nick Carpenter had an existential experience onstage. He was standing with the band Dawes, screaming along as they performed their signature song, 2009’s “When My Time Comes.” The moment made Carpenter, who sings and writes songs under the name Medium Build, think about his deepest fears and goals as an artist — namely, about coming to terms with the level of popularity you’ve been gifted rather than constantly worrying about it.

Stars Collective Film Entertainment Group is mounting an ambitious animated film trilogy based on “Journey to the West,” one of China’s four great classical novels, the company revealed on the first day of Hong Kong FilMart.
The trilogy — comprising “Bajie,” “Monkey King” and “Nezha” — aims to introduce and expand Eastern mythology to global audiences, building on recent successes in the space. The project comes as Eastern mythology continues gaining traction in entertainment, with video game ”Black Myth: Wukong,” which is based on Chinese mythology, hitting record-breaking sales of 28 million copies ($1.25 billion in revenue) since its August 2024 release, while Lunar New Year release “Ne Zha 2” has passed $2 billion at the global box office.

It's taken a while, but it feels like we're hitting peak "Star Trek: Voyager" nostalgia these days. It was not always like this: On the heels of "The Next Generation" movies and the sprawling war saga of "Deep Space Nine," the premise of "Voyager," which hurled a Federation ship to the other side of the universe where it presumably would encounter nothing familiar, wasn't as compelling. Initial new aliens like the Kazon were duds, and when the show tried to course-correct, it may have overdone it on the Borg storylines. For the first time, but not the last, it began to feel like there was too much "Star Trek."
However, fans have been going back to "Voyager" and discovering it more old-school charms since the streaming era kicked in -- and especially during the pandemic lockdown. The animated "Star Trek: Prodigy" serves as a sequel of sorts, bringing back multiple...

You know how they say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, the same could be said about Star Trek: Voyager. Once criticized and considered the black sheep of the Star Trek family, this series has made a shocking comeback that has even the harshest critics raising an eyebrow. We’re sure when the show first launched, no one could’ve predicted that years down the line, Voyager would rival The Next Generation in the streaming world.

Kate Hudson may have a myriad of roles on her résumé but her romantic comedies led her to be called a “rom-com queen.” However, she is opening up about why she wasn’t sure how she felt about that label.
While appearing on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, the Running Point star says she has a “mixed feeling” when looking back at the success of her rom-coms and being typecast in those roles.

Turns out, when you’ve won Best Picture, most of the time, the only place you can go after that high is down.
Opening this weekend at the box office is “Mickey 17,” the first film from director Bong Joon Ho since his film won Best Picture for “Parasite” back in 2019. “Parasite” was something of a unicorn, an international film that crossed all borders and became a $259 million global commercial hit and an awards circuit sensation. Even with Robert Pattinson helping his cause, that’s going to be a tough benchmark to surpass. Warner Bros. is projecting a $40-50 million global opening weekend.
The difference this time is director Bong is working with a major studio, Warner Bros., rather than indie distributor Neon, and “Mickey 17” will open wide on 3,400 screens domestically, whereas “Parasite” at its peak only hit 2,000.
But when a director’s movie wins Best Picture, does their next one perform better?...

You’re Next is out today on SteelBook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray exclusively from Lionsgate Limited, and director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett discuss the unmade sequel to the 2011 home invasion slasher in a new commentary track.
“Originally, [the Lamb Mask killer] got decapitated in the script with his hand pinned to his head,” Barrett explains. “But then we were like, ‘Ah, perfect opportunity, because this film’s gonna be a huge theatrical success, everyone’s telling us, so for You’re Next 2 we’ll just bring [L.C. Holt] back as the Lamb Mask killer.’
“But because his frontal cortex is damaged by getting stabbed in the forehead, he won’t be able to feel pain anymore. He’ll be kind of crazier now, and he wants revenge for his brother.”
He continues, “Our sequel idea, which I’m glad we didn’t do, was the notion that Erin would be arrested.

Star Trek: Voyager developed a cult following unlike its more successful spinoff shows such as The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. The Kate Mulgrew starrer again saw an experimental storyline where the titular Voyager ship was placed in a different dimension and was tasked with handling a diverse crew of Starfleet and Maquis.
One two-parter episode of Voyager tested the ship and Captain Kathryn Janeway to such an extent that it faced several casualties. It is arguably one of the best arcs in the whole show and could have lasted longer if not for one intervention. Bryan Fuller, one of the writers on Voyager revealed the behind-the-scenes drama.
