Murderbot is all set to release on May 16, 2025, and this hilariously self-aware rogue robot is well on its way to stealing your heart. The show is an adaptation of the novel series, The Murderbot Diaries, written by the famous sci-fi writer Martha Wells. Murderbot is an anxious security robot that has hacked into its governor module and now has to juggle between human emotions and its newfound autonomy.
Murderbot’s penchant for soap operas and his repulsion towards humans is what makes the show a comedy thriller, with deep and compelling narratives. Alexander Skarsgard will be seen in the lead role, and fans and critics alike await the arrival of Murderbot on Apple TV+.

Based on Martha Wells' bestselling Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series, Murderbot is a sci-fi comedic thriller about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients.
Murderbot (Alexander Skarsgård) must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
Last month, we got to speak with Skarsgård and creators/writers/directors/producers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz about working on the series. We started by asking the show's lead about finding the humanity in a character called "Murderbot."
"We wanted a contrast and a juxtaposition between the name of the character and the way we designed the look of the character. We wanted a tough name like Murderbot, who looks like he could definitely beat you up, but it's...

Whether it is the first time for you to see him perform in the upcoming Apple TV+ show, Murderbot, or have followed his work through the years. Let’s dive into some of his most notable works across the years.

Whether or not you have strong Italian roots, Netflix's Nonnas is for you. Most people can identify with comfort food when it's needed. With Nonnas, which was released on your favorite streamer on May 9, the comfort comes from taste and preparation.
The story was written by Liz Maccie and directed by her husband, Stephen Chbosky. The movie is a drama, but ultimately a heartwarming one. It's about family and friends and finding those people all over again.
As far as the cast, you will recognize most of the actors. In fact, you probably have seen much of their work. These are the people you need to know.
Cast of Nonnas is as delicious as the foodLorraine Bracco as Roberta
Bracco actually lives in Sicily part of the year, so she was perfectly cast for the role of Roberta, an outspoken nonna who has issues dealing with her Bolognese counterparts.

Joe Manganiello is primarily known for his work across film and television, whether it's for his five-season-long role in True Blood or, more recently, as the host of the reality competition Deal or No Deal Island, which puts a Survivor spin on the old Howie Mandel format. He's also been doing some serious preparation to take a villainous turn as Crocodile in the second season of Netflix's live-action One Piece. However, arguably his biggest impact on entertainment can be attributed to Dungeons & Dragons. As a host, official ambassador, writer, game designer, and more, he's helped pull the tabletop role-playing game into the limelight and get celebrities and the public at large to start publicly discussing it. Now, he's reflecting on just how much his efforts have paid off in getting the game he loves to where it is today.

The third season ofNBC's Night Court ended with a very unanticipated reveal, and at the same time, debuted Melissa Rauch’s former Big Bang Theoryhusband. The finale aired on NBC on Tuesday, May 6, as a one-hour event with Part 1 featuring guest stars Michael Urie and original Night Court star Marsha Warfield. Part 2, on the other hand, saw Simon Helberg appear once again as Rauch’s onscreen spouse, marking the first TV reunion between the duo since their stint on Big Bang.
Given how things concluded in the Night Court Season 3 finale, fans should expect Helberg's return in future episodes if the show is renewed. But while that remains to be seen, Rauch recently discussed the finale with TV Insider, including what it was like working with her former Big Bang Theory co-star. The actress only had the best words for Helberg, describing his presence on set as “so incredibly special” before adding:

Alexander SKARSGÅRD has always been drawn towards anarchy: disruptive characters who turn worlds upside down. Now, as he plays a rogue android in Murderbot, we meet him to discover what pushes his buttons
“Is there blood in my hair?”, asked Alexander Skarsgård’s Eric Northman, having just killed, dismembered and feasted upon some unlucky soul in HBO’s vampire saga True Blood. For many, the show was their first exposure to Skarsgård, who was starting as he meant to go on: anarchic, provocative, and unafraid to play characters with an unhealthy moral compass.
True Blood wasn’t *quite* the start. The son of Stellan Skarsgård, he acted in a few things as a child in Sweden before jacking it in, then appeared in 2001’s Zoolander, playing a model, Meekus, who gets blown up in a petrol station. After spending a few years in the Hollywood wilderness, Skarsgård finally broke through...

The twin trope is a time-honored soap opera staple, so it's not surprising that, in the final season of "You" — the campy, heightened Netflix series that stars Penn Badgley as "nice guy" serial killer Joe Goldberg — Anna Camp plays a pair of identical twins. As both Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, half-sisters of Joe's extraordinarily wealthy and powerful wife Kate Lockwood (Charlotte Ritchie), Camp turns in a masterful dual performance, especially because the two women couldn't be more different. Raegan, a cutthroat employee and board member of Lockwood Industries who's furious that her late father Tom (played last season by Greg Kinnear) made Kate the CEO of the company, will stop at nothing to undermine her half-sister and barely has time for her husband and daughter. Maddie, a socialite whose job Joe describes as "vaguely PR" who's been married several times and calls Joe "Boo-Boo" in a way that's not not flirtatious,...

There’s the saying “Too Much of a Good Thing” for a reason, as fantasy and sci-fi fans have recently found out. Broadcast is no longer home to vampires, werewolves, and witches — oh my!
Once upon a time, you could barely change the channel without landing on a fantasy or sci-fi show. Sadly, those days seem to be long gone.
It seems like only yesterday, the whole world was going nuts over the television craze that was Heroes. Or, how about the years spent trying to decode Lost?
(NBC/Peacock/Screenshot)
Fantasy and sci-fi have been staples of television since the ’50s with Captain Video and His Video Rangers. Oh, how far we have fallen.
These days, fantasy and sci-fi can barely last a season without getting the axe just a handful of episodes in. Is streaming the last hope for these genres, or could broadcast TV see its own Renaissance?...

Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher are ready to go one more round — this time at the Emmys.
Gold Derby has confirmed that Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil; Vincent D’Onoforio, who plays Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin; and Jon Bernthal , who plays Frank Castle, aka Punisher, will all be submitted by Disney+ for acting categories at the 2025 Emmy Awards for their work in Daredevil: Born Again.
Cox will be entered for for Best Drama Actor, D'Onofrio will be submitted for supporting actor, and Bernthal for guest actor for the Marvel-produced show, which is a continuation of Netflix’s Daredevil series (2015-18). Disney had originally considered entering D'Onofrio for best actor, since his baddie has nearly as much screen time as Cox's, but ultimately went with supporting rather than pitting the stars against each other.

In 2024, Netflix released 3 Body Problem, a new adaptation of Liu Cixin's bestselling series Remembrance of Earth's Past. The sci-fi series wasn't the first adaptation of the book series, but it was a hit on Netflix.
3 Body Problem was created by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, alongside True Blood's Alexander Woo. It starred several actors of Game of Thrones fame, and it was later renewed for two seasons, which would give the creators time to fully explore the novels. Per What's on Netflix, 3 Body Problem received an exciting update, as Seasons 2 and 3 are expected to be shot back-to-back, and revealed the filming window and location.
3 Body Problem Season 1 premiered in March 2024, and the series has yet to start production for the follow-up seasons. The series is in early development, and the outlet denies the plans for a Spring 2025 filming start. The...

Want a brooding, tall, and handsome gentleman to come sweep you off your feet? Well, that’s exactly what Alexander Skarsgård does—without even trying too hard. With his intense stare, chiseled face, and quiet charm, this star has been leaving fans speechless for years. Whether he’s playing a dark, broody villain or a layered anti-hero, Skarsgård brings something so raw to his roles that you can’t look away.
He’s made a reputation for diving deep into twisted, psychologically complex characters. From a morally ambiguous cop in War on Everyone to an abusive husband in Big Little Lies, he’s played roles that make you uncomfortable but keep you hooked. While his on-screen persona often leans into the shadows, fans are constantly curious about the real Skarsgård behind all that intensity.

We are still four months away from pressing play on Jason Momoa's (A Minecraft Movie) passion project — the epic series Chief of War. However, as it teased all of its summer releases, Apple TV+ offered a brief glimpse of the show and its epic scale. The cast also features Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) and Tamuera Morrison (Star Wars), and the nine-episode series is set to debut on August 1.
Even though it's not much revealing, the teaser does hint at the scale of the show, and it looks like once again Apple TV+ has spared no expense to make a new title look as good as possible. The first bit shows Momoa among a huge slate of warriors who look like they are about to enter a massive battle. Then, we get a look at the show's impressive costume design and get the notion that Momoa's character Ka'iana is...

Books are like secret treasures, hiding their gold between pages, waiting for the right hands to unearth them. But what happens when those treasures are too good to stay hidden? Well, the book world does what it does best—turns them into TV gold. And now, Martha Wells’ best-selling The Murderbot Diaries is making the leap from page to screen, ready to shine in all its sci-fi glory.
The story? A rogue android with an attitude problem who’s trying to figure out the whole ‘emotion’ and ‘free will’ thing—while also saving the universe. It’s not your typical robot-on-a-mission. The first trailer is already serving up a delicious blend of humor, rebellious bots, and none other than Emmy-winner Alexander Skarsgård as our brooding android protagonist. This is going to be one sci-fi show that’s anything but robotic.

We’ve got something exciting brewing over at Apple TV+, and it’s got a bit of a mechanical twist. ‘Murderbot’ is gearing up to land on our screens soon, promising a wild mix of laughs, thrills, and a robot who’s more into soap operas than you’d expect. I’ve been keeping an eye on this one, and it’s shaping up to be a fresh addition to the streaming lineup.
The show comes from a pretty talented crew, with some big names behind it. It’s based on a book series that’s already won a bunch of awards, so there’s a solid foundation here. The story follows a security bot with a mind of its own, stuck between dangerous jobs and a secret love for TV drama. It’s the kind of setup that could go anywhere, and I’m curious to see how they pull it off.

Alexander Skarsgård's career has been relatively quiet since starring in the recurring role of Lukas Matsson in the final season of Succession, but his next project just got a thrilling new look. Skarsgård stars alongside David Dastmalchian and Sabrina Wu in Murderbot, the upcoming space sci-fi thriller series releasing on May 16. Apple TV+ has officially released the first trailer for Murderbot, which can be found below and shows Skarsgård playing an SEC robot who has hacked his programming and gone rogue after acquiring free will. The series is based on Martha Wells’ best-selling book series The Murderbot Diaries. The first images of Murderbot were officially released a few days ago, and the series was written, directed, and produced by the Weitz brothers, who most recently worked on Moving On (Jane Fonda) and Fatherhood (Kevin Hart).

One of the biggest shows on Netflix in recent years will return for not one, but two more seasons, with the science fiction series now getting an epic production update. After debuting on the streamer back in March last year, 3 Body Problem comes from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss who, alongside Alexander Woo, transformed the Chinese novel series "Remembrance of Earth's Past" by Liu Cixin into an ambitious story that stretches across time and space.
According to a new report from What’s on Netflix, 3 Body Problem Seasons 2 and 3 are all set to begin production “with both upcoming seasons likely set to be filmed back to back, akin to the recent example of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was similarly renewed for a second and third season together.”

If there's an unexpected sensation in the realm of television in 2025, it's Max's medical drama "The Pitt." Starring "ER" alum Noah Wyle, the series has become a massive hit for the streaming service. Though not actually an "ER" spin-off, "The Pitt" is bringing that vibe to modern viewers. Aside from Wyle, the real-time medical drama also stars Fiona Dourif as Dr. Cassie McKay, which has made her known to a much wider audience. However, before her turn as a TV doctor, she had a pretty big career as a scream queen.
Dourif, the daughter of Brad Dourif, best known as the voice of Chucky in the "Child's Play" franchise, got into the family business as a young adult. She would go on to star in "Curse of Chucky" and "Cult of Chucky," in addition to working on Syfy's "Chucky" TV show.

The series finale of 1923 provided a fitting, devastating conclusion to the show, and now the 2025 Emmys will be the final time for it to be awarded.
Featuring an intense shootout, a shocking death, and main characters meeting for the very first time, the last episode of the second season stays true to fashion in tying all the storylines together with the central Dutton family. For the entire season, fans have been anxiously waiting for the reunion of Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer), who were separated in the Season 1 finale. They finally reunited in the penultimate episode with the latter being pregnant.
Though that reunion was short-lived as Spencer leaves to protect his family's ranch against Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) and Banner Creighton's men. However, Creighton (Jerome Flynn) himself has a change of heart and saves patriarch Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) in the shootout, before being killed. Once Alexandra...

Did Alexander Skarsgård Find It Difficult To Bag Good Roles? ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Alexander Skarsgård once revealed that he lost several roles due to his appearance. “I was on a stupid s*xy hunky hot list.” And according to the actor, it wasn’t exactly a career boost. While some actors thrived on their hunky status, Skarsgård believed it put him in a box – one he had to fight his way out of.
The Swedish actor, son of Stellan Skarsgård, spent over 20 years building a career beyond just looking good. His Hollywood debut came in Zoolander, but True Blood made him a star. As Eric Northman, the thousand-year-old vampire with undeniable swagger, he gained a massive fanbase and a reputation.
That reputation, however, came with a cost. In an interview with The Times, Skarsgård admitted, “Starting out in Sweden, there was stuff about being tall and blond. But most people here are tall and blond.

The Bondsman, releasing on Amazon Prime Video on April 4, 2025, is the story of a bounty hunter who dies and is resurrected to become a hunter of demons for the Devil. It resembles a mix of Supernatural, True Blood, and Preacher. Blumhouse Productions, known for horror, is part of the production team. This series is set in modern-day Georgia.
The Bondsman is a fun show with interesting characters. Each one has their own frailties and quirks. There are some nice music choices to go with each episode and plenty of humor. Horror fans will enjoy the action, gore, and intrigue. At times the characters' actions are hard to believe or predictable. I didn’t find that intrusive enough to prevent me from enjoying the show.

The first trailer for Primitive War is here, and it’s a wild mix of military action and dinosaur horror. The movie stars Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) as U.S. soldiers in the Vietnam War who discover something terrifying in the jungle—dinosaurs.
Directed by Australian filmmaker Luke Sparke, Primitive War is based on Ethan Pettus’ book series. The story follows an elite military team called Vulture Squad, sent into a remote jungle in 1968 to find a missing platoon of Green Berets. But instead of just enemy soldiers, they face prehistoric monsters.
“Three days ago, I lost my Green Berets. There was something going on in that battle,” Piven’s character says in the tense trailer. As the squad fights to survive, they realize they must become as savage as the creatures hunting them.
Sparke, who also co-wrote and produced the film, was excited by the crazy concept.

They call it “high concept.” In the upcoming Primitive War, soldiers in Vietnam do battle with prehistoric dinosaurs, and the teaser trailer for the action/horror/sci-fi movie has arrived.
Debuted by THR this morning, watch the teaser trailer for Primitive War below! “This ain’t no walk in the park,” the trailer promises, taking a shot at Jurassic Park in the process.
On that note, it’s awesome to see filmmakers outside the Jurassic franchise playing with dinosaurs, as that’s something we haven’t seen enough of over the years. The high concept approach to the material here reminds us a bit of the 2023 movie 65, which saw Adam Driver going up against dinosaurs. And it looks like Primitive War has enough of a budget behind it to make the dinosaur action look pretty damn good, which gives us hope for this one.

HBO's Lanterns series is still ever-expanding after recently adding Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner into the fold. Per Deadline, Lawman: Bass Reeves star Chris Coy is now the latest addition to the upcoming Green Lantern drama series in a guest-starring role. He's set to embody a mysterious new character by the name of Waylon Sanders, described as "an intelligent survivor or a nervous truck driver." If that wasn't confusing enough, his real name and age remain an enigma, and he's said to be "unbound by the laws of nature." It's unclear what role he'll play and whether he'll be a friend or a foe to Lantern recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler).
Coy boards a group that has grown significantly in recent weeks, with Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jason Ritter among those on board thus far.

If the pilot goes forward, it would mark Basch’s fifth series for FX, where his company Dive has a long-standing first-look deal, following Devs, Reservation Dogs, What We Do in the Shadows...

Season 2 of the Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece has yet to announce a release date, but it has already broken a franchise record. The next installment was confirmed immediately following the show's success when it first came out in 2023. Since then, numerous cast members and the reveal of Chopper, the Staw Pirates' doctor, have been announced. As the show grows with anticipation, its production has caused it to reach this niche achievement.
The One Piece franchise spans multiple seasons and manga releases, and the gap between volumes and seasons would typically span months. As Netflix and Eiichiro Oda continue to withhold details of when the next installment will drop, the gap between the first and second seasons of the live-action series will break the franchise record of "longest gapbetween seasons in the One Piece franchise." While One Piece has numerous content spread around digital and physical media, the gap...

When "The Vampire Diaries" hit The CW in 2009, the network had no idea how this YA dark fantasy series would be received. Vampire narratives on television weren't exactly a novelty at the time, as mega-popular shows like "True Blood" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" were already exploring intriguing facets of the genre. Then there was the "Twilight" of it all, amassing mainstream attention (and scrutiny) with its focus on teen supernatural romance and the challenges of girlhood.
So when "The Vampire Diaries" opened with a young Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) struggling with grief while being entangled with two vampire brothers, the show's premise ran the risk of retreading stale genre tropes. However, eight seasons and a spin-off (2013's "The Originals") later, "The Vampire Diaries" emerged as the face of teen-centered vampire drama that wasn't afraid to venture into dark corners. Despite its flaws, the series promised a bold, exciting world...

Joe Manganiello, tell us how you really feel about Dr. Will Kirby.
“I wanted to kill him while he was there,” says the host of Deal or No Deal Island. “I think we all did. I speak for everyone in the crew and cast, we all wanted to kill Dr. Will. He was so aggravating.”
But as soon as the former Big Brother champ was sent packing this season on the NBC competition show, Manganiello admitted that he felt a pang of regret. “I was sad to see him go in the end because he was such good television,” he said. “Dr. Will is of that era where people weren’t afraid to go on these shows and be villains, be the bad guy.”
Manganiello has learned from the best; before he was asked to emcee the game in 2024, the True Blood actor spent a great deal of his free time watching Survivor.
