‘Toxic Town’ Series Cast And Character Guide
Image
Netflix’s latest British miniseries, Toxic Town is centered around the real-life legal battle between the Corby Borough Council and the townsfolk whose children suffered birth deformities due to toxic waste pollution resulting from deliberate neglect and mismanagement by the authorities involved in the steel plant land reclamation. As the makers decide to approach the narrative from the perspective of the victim’s families and the residents of the industrial town, it is important to note that maternal figures gained prominence – the ones who were most affected/ blamed for a predicament beyond their control, as patriarchal society functioned that way, and still does. Aside from this aspect, the series also focuses on the bureaucratic corruption which preys on the socioeconomic vulnerabilities of small townships and ends up ruining the future of upcoming generations in diabolically selfish pursuits.

Priest 2: Faithless Dawn Movie Demand Hits New Heights After Tom Hardy Sequel Fan Trailer Goes Viral
Image
The 2011 vampire hunter film Priest failed to sink its teeth into the box office but that hasn’t stopped fan interest in another go with Priest 2: Faithless Dawn.

Paul Bettany led the cast of Priest, a movie in which the man behind Marvel’s Vision starred as a man of the cloth who wasn’t afraid to bust a few vampiric heads when his niece (played by Lily Collins) is kidnapped by a pack of bloodthirsty dracs.

It might be slightly surprising that there is any demand at all for another Priest film. The first movie, which lurked into theaters on May 13, 2011, a mere two weeks after the MCU’s Thor, certainly didn’t light the world on fire.

Rob Halford on sobriety, health scares, the ‘remarkable’ Glenn Tipton, and being Grammy-nominated 50 years into Judas Priest’s career
Image
Some old-school metalheads may blast the Grammy Awards for supposedly having no rock cred, but that absolutely isn’t the case for Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, an unimpeachably credible rock legend and possibly the jolliest man in metal. Priest are nominated this year alongside “a great kind of broad demographic of all these different generations of metal maniacs” — Metallica, Gojira, Spiritbox, and Knocked Loose featuring Poppy — for Best Metal Performance for “Crown of Horns,” a track off the band’s 19th studio album, Invincible Shield. And Halford could not be more brimming with more “absolute shock and excitement and feelings.”

“We treasure every opportunity and every moment of recognition,” gushes the 73-years-young metal god, grinning over Zoom from his home in Phoenix. “You feel like it’s a win already. The nomination is a win. … This is like a pinnacle. … We’ve had multiple nominations, but to get one...

Casting Paddington 4's Villain: 10 Actors Who'd Be Perfect
Image
With Paddington in Peru closing in on its premiere date, many fans of the beloved children's franchise may be wondering which actor or actress should be the villain in the next Paddington movie. Despite being first created in 1958, Paddington Bear has managed to captivate countless generations of readers and viewers right up until the present day. In 2014, the current movie franchise kicked off, with Ben Whishaw voicing the eponymous bear. Now, the franchise is close to releasing Paddington in Peru, which means even more fun - and chaos - for Paddington to get into.

Although the Paddington movies are obviously centered on the adorable British bear, another major aspect of the films are the villains. The sneaky and suspicious people that Paddington must outwit clearly have devious motives, but rather than being dark or scary, these bad guys usually bring an extra air of fun to the movies. Released in 1974, Rocka Rolla pre-dated Judas Priest’s heavy metal sound and saw the young British band playing a brand of bluesy hard rock with elements of psych and prog. It was recorded on a small budget during cheap overnight studio sessions by the group’s then-lineup of singer Rob Halford, guitarist Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, guitarist Kk Downing, and drummer John Hinch.

As Halford explained in the press release for the new reissue, the members of Priest were mostly satisfied with their work in the studio, but upon receiving the first pressing of Rocka Rolla,...

Bosch: Legacy is coming to an end after its third season premiering in 2025

After traversing a long and winding road, the saga of detective Harry Bosch is coming to an end with the conclusion of Bosch: Legacy Season 3. Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels serve as source material for the series, announced on Instagram on Friday that the latest iteration of the character’s episodic exploits is ending.

“It’s been an amazing run with this character so far,” Connelly wrote. “There’s that over-used phrase ‘It takes a village,’ so I’ll just say, it takes at least a whole town to make a show like this. We’ve had the best people up and down the call sheet. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special, and they certainly did. I’m very proud of what we did.”

While fans could be upset about the cancelation of Bosch: Legacy, Connelly is thrilled about how actor Titus Welliver...

BookTok is the go-to place for spicy romance reads, offering a range of steamy novels for fans of all levels of "spice". Popular books on BookTok, like Twisted Love and Priest, feature plenty of explicit content for readers to enjoy. TikTok is a great place to get book recommendations across genres, but "BookTok" is especially useful for those looking for spicy romance reads. Some of the most popular books on BookTok are romance and romantasy novels featuring steamy moments. This explains the platform's reputation for promoting smut, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It makes it the go-to place for romance readers looking to separate the tamer stories from the steamier novels they're looking for. ‘WWE Backlash 2024’ PPV Review
Image
Welcome to this review of WWE’s latest pay-per-view/premium live event, Backlash, which this year emanates from France. We’ve got five matches on the card so let’s get into it.

Match #1: Street Fight – Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga def. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Before the match could even begin, all four Superstars engaged in a massive melee with WWE officials, including SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who was attempting to break up the brawl. A fed up Aldis decided to forgo the original tag team rules, turning the bout into a Street Fight. The chaos only heightened with the introduction of weapons including Kendo sticks, trash cans, tables and even the Prime hydration station being used as instruments of destruction. Both teams traded blows with Owens splashing Tonga through a table while Sikoa nearly simultaneously put Orton through a table with a Samoan Drop.

Brad Dourif is retired from acting, except for his work as Chucky
Image
Brad Dourif has had an incredible acting career that stretches back more than fifty years – and back in the early days of that career, he even earned a “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” Oscar nomination for his performance in the 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Over a decade later, he started playing the role he is best known for, that of Charles Lee Ray, a.k.a. Chucky, a serial killer who uses voodoo to transfer his soul into the body of a doll. Dourif is now 74 years old, so when we hear that he has decided to retire from acting, it’s totally understandable… but while talking about his retirement, Dourif has also made sure to assure fans that his days of Chucky are not over. He will still continue to work on any Chucky projects that might come up.

News of Dourif’s retirement comes...

“Refs don’t get enough credit”: Female WWE Referee Saves Damian Priest From a Scary Botch and Not Many of Us Noticed It During the Tag Team Match at Wm 40
Image
Apart from the thrilling matches at WWE, the wrestling industry has often made headlines for lacking female referees, until Jessika Carr made her debut in 2019 during SmackDown. Being the first full-time female referee, Carr has been working with WWE for a long time.

Damian Priest | image: Wikimedia Commons

However, despite her unbiased judgment and help, she seems to lack her deserving credit. Take the recent example of WrestleMania 40 when a few fans noticed Jessica Carr helping Damian Priest during the Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match. Apparently, Carr saved Priest from a scary botch by informing him about his ladder. And yet, rarely anyone offered Carr the credit for helping.

Jessica Carr Went Unnoticed Despite Saving Damian Priest

Making her debut in 2019 during Friday Night SmackDown, Jessica Carr became WWE’s first full-time female referee. Ever since then she has been appearing during several matches and dedicating herself to the wrestling universe.

No One Is Doing It Like Andrew Scott
Image
When I saw the first black-and-white still of Andrew Scott in and as “Ripley,” I was sold — and I know I’m not alone.

The 47-year-old actor might seem like an unexpected choice to step into the shoes of Tom Ripley, but for anyone following his career, it could not have been a more perfect casting or welcome treat. From the very first moments, Steve Zaillian’s “Ripley” is one of those projects that hinges entirely upon its lead actor, a vehicle for Mr. Ripley’s talents that buoys sharp direction, artistic choices, and lush cinematography in its wake.

As for casting the man last seen on TV as Hot Priest in the role of a known sociopath (though Scott and Zaillian dislike labeling their antihero), we must turn to Tumblr. With Instagram in its infancy and TikTok still years away, Twitter and Tumblr were the arenas for Andrew Scott...

This Vampire Western Pays Homage to John Wayne’s ‘The Searchers’
Image
While not the first mashup between vampires and Westerns, the 2011 action horror flick Priest is undoubtedly the most original. Based on a graphic novel series of the same name by Hyung Min-woo, this action-packed adventure merges standard Western concepts with high supernatural fantasy set in an alternate world where humans and vampires have been at war since the dawn of time. But what if we told you that this movie had some distinct ties to the classic John Wayne flick The Searchers, and that, somehow, it actually works in the film's favor? Get ready to set off on a wild ride, one filled with more vampires and Western tropes than you'll know what to do with.

Judas Priest Unleash Blistering New Song “The Serpent and the King”: Stream
Image
Judas Priest continue to unveil tracks from their forthcoming album Invincible Shield ahead of its March 8th release date.

“The Serpent and the King” is the fourth single from the LP so far, and it’s another scalding ripper from the British metal legends.

Rob Halford’s falsetto vocals are front and center — yep, he can still hit that vaunted Painkiller register — and the guitar tone sounds like it’s scratching the speakers from the inside. Under the hood, the guitar work and riff arrangements are densely composed — enough for both thrash and prog heads to feast on.

Regarding the album’s musical direction, guitarist Richie Faulkner told Audio Ink Radio that Invincible Shield “is progressive in the sense that it’s not like verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-chorus-finish,” likening it to Priest’s ’70s output.

“It’s musical part-verse-musical part,” he added. “It might do a few twists and turns, musically. It veers from the path of it,...

The 9 Best LGBTQ Movies of 2023
Image
If there’s one takeaway from the LGBTQ narrative films that came into the world and across our screens this year, it’s the sheer variety of the stories there are to tell.

From real-world historical biopics and inspirational sports dramas, to tender love stories and raunchy comedies, there really was something for everyone this year. Captivating characters, fearless performances and narrative tapestries that defy convention and troublesome tropes all reigned supreme. As such, here are some of the best we got.

All of Us Strangers “All of Us Strangers” (Credit: Searchlight Pictures)

A new movie from the director of “Weekend” starring the Hot Priest from “Fleabag” and everyone’s favorite internet boyfriend should be enough to catch the interest of anyone listening — and “All of Us Strangers” lives up to that potential and then some. This equal parts sexy and emotionally devastating romance stars Andrew Scott as an isolated writer who,...

Ravenous (1999) – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Ravenous was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

1999, a year of hope, a year of high fashion, nooo, no… 1999, the year when people prepared for Y2K, the year of all the odd choices when it came to fashion, and the year of interesting cinematic options. We got The Mummy which gave us all the hot cast members we could ask for and still gives us memes, we got End of Days, Stigmata, Idle Hands, House on Haunted Hill, The Haunting, Stir of Echoes, and The Blair Witch Project. It was a year for surprising hits, shocking failures, and offbeat horror films. So many smaller budgets did so well. Also out in 1999 was this movie about cannibalism in the olden days of the United States,...

Wonka Cast Salary Revealed: From Timothee Chalamet To Hugh Grant, Here’s How Much The Actors Received – Numbers Inside!
Image
Wonka Cast Salary Revealed! ( Photo Credit – IMDb )

Timothee Chalamet walked in Johnny Depp’s shoes and appeared as Willy Wonka in the latest film Wonka. The movie has a stellar cast, including Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson, to support Timothee’s titular character. But they are all veteran Hollywood stars; Tim is one of the most talented actors of the present generation. The star cast must have packed a handsome salary for this fantasy musical film by Paul King.

Previously, Johnny Depp entertained us to the fullest by bringing his quirks in the character of Willy Wonka when he appeared in the role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The movie reunited the iconic actor-director duo of Depp and Tim Burton in 2005. Besides Depp, Gene Wilder’s Wonka is also one of the most iconic portrayals of the character. The official trailer of the Chalamet-led movie came out around four months ago.

Judas Priest Unleash Video for New Song “Trial by Fire”: Watch
Image
Judas Priest are gearing up to release a new studio album, Invincible Shield, on March 8th, but fans don’t have to wait that long to hear new music from the band. The metal legends have unveiled the video for “Trial by Fire” as the second single from the LP.

“Trial by Fire” features some classic metal riffage from guitarists Richie Faulkner and Glenn Tipton, along with singer Rob Halford’s anthemic vocals. It follows the album’s debut single, “Panic Attack,” which arrived last month.

“Trial by Fire” and “Panic Attack” follow the ’70s metal sound that Faulkner had hinted about the new album. During a recent interview with Audio Ink Radio, Faulkner said this album was “a bit more ’70s Priest, which I welcome as a guitar player.”

However, he added that it was “not a retro album, by any means. It’s the influence of ’70s Priest in the progressive sense,...

Paul Bettany's Forgotten 2011 Monster Movie Secretly Remade John Wayne's Best Western
Image
Paul Bettany's movie Priest is a stealth remake of John Wayne's iconic Western, The Searchers. Priest draws heavily from The Searchers, with similar story beats and themes of rescuing a kidnapped relative from an enemy. Priest even uses a fan theory from The Searchers, revealing that the hero's kidnapped niece is actually his daughter, adding an emotional twist to the ending.

A forgotten Paul Bettany vampire movie is a stealth remake of John Wayne's most iconic Western. Wayne became a movie star thanks to his turn in 1939's Stagecoach, and even though the film featured an ensemble cast, his performance stole the show. While he featured in everything from romantic dramas to war movies, he was also permanently typecast as a cowboy. John Wayne starred in 80 Westerns throughout his 50-year career, with some of the most notable being Red River, Rio Bravo and True Grit.

Possibly the most iconic would be The Searchers,...

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Trudged to the Finish Line With Season 8 | Commentary
Image
You’re not gone until you’re gone. At least that’s what I told people when they realized it took eight seasons for “Fear the Walking Dead” to wrap up.

“Fear” bested predictions and became one of the longest-running television spin-offs currently on air. While ratings dwindled and characters were written off over the years, it maintained a decent cult following — some tuning in for Alycia Debnam-Carey, who came into her own as an actress on the show following “The 100,” while others begrudgingly watched to keep up with the “Walking Dead” universe, after characters like Morgan (Lennie James), Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) were transferred from the original series.

A key to its success, “Fear” never shied away from a soft reboot. Every season tackled a new approach to its storytelling, sometimes in the span of a few episodes. Early seasons of “Fear” felt migratory even,...

Judas Priest Show Their Strength on ‘Trial by Fire’
Image
Judas Priest have endured in one form or another for more than 50 years, and on their new single, “Trial by Fire,” they recognize their own fortitude. “Bound and abused, branded a liar/I have endured trial by fire,” frontman Rob Halford sings in the chorus, growling the word “fire” a little more each time he sings it.

The track, which naturally features some pyrotechnic guitar playing by Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, will feature on the band’s upcoming Invincible Shield album, due out March 3, 2024.

The group released the first single from the new album,...

‘WWE Raw’ Review (Nov 13th 2023)
Image
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Seth “Freakin” Rollins & Sami Zayn vs. “Dirty” Dom & Jd McDonagh (No-Contest) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In the final moments of tag team action, surprise interference from The Judgment Day brought a sudden halt to the match. The bedlam intensified in the aftermath when Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso rushed to the ring to even the odds of The Judgment Day and McDonagh’s post-match attack on Rollins and Zayn. The post-match brawl resulted in an irate Raw General Manager Adam Pearce banning all involved noncompeting WarGames participants from the arena prior to the main event WWE Undisputed Tag Team Title Match.

My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Shinsuke Nakamura def. Otis The following is courtesy of wwe.

K.K. Downing: Rob Halford Got “One More Shot at Glory” with Judas Priest, But Not Me
Image
From 1969 to 2011, K.K. Downing was a member of Judas Priest, and alongside Glenn Tipton made up one of metal’s all-time greatest guitar tandems. The pair helped power such classic albums as British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance, and Painkiller, along with headbanging anthems like “Breaking the Law,” “Living After Midnight,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.”

After Downing’s exit, Priest carried on with guitarist Richie Faulkner. But when it was announced in 2018 that Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and would no longer tour (aside from special appearances), it seemingly opened the door for Downing to return. But ultimately, the vacated slot went to Andy Sneap, the co-producer of Priest’s 2018 album, Firepower.

Despite a brief performance with Judas Priest at the band’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, Downing says the door is now shut on a reunion.

Reba McEntire Says She Can Only Reach Dolly Parton Via Fax
Image
Despite being a country legend in her own right, Reba McEntire doesn’t have much of a leg up on the average person when it comes to contacting the one and only Dolly Parton. In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, McEntire revealed that she can only reach Parton via fax.

“Dolly does not text,” McEntire said in a segment called “Textual Behavior.” When asked whether Parton uses email or can be reached on a landline, McEntire said her only option is through “fax.”

She continued, “I don’t have her telephone number and I asked Kenny Rogers one time. I said, ‘Do you have Dolly’s number?’ He said, ‘No.’ Maybe he said that because he didn’t want to give it to me. I don’t know.

This isn’t a situation where McEntire and Parton are complete strangers. Back in 2011, Dolly inducted...
