this had to be one of the funniest of the young ones! i did find that one of the 'jokes' was not followed by the 'canned' laughter;; "Neil---i hope mike comes back with the cure. Vyvyan---- no no Neil- its madness this week." MR damage was quite funny also with he way he spoke to the police officer about his head staying in the vicinity of the shoulders--- alright! (or said as AO RWITE!)I've watched the young ones since i was two and have been told that not only was this my favourite at that age but the show had to be boycotted at home because i would stand in front of the television until it had finished. my parents and grandparents watched it the first time it came out and did not become fans when the repeats were shown-- no matter how many times you watch them, they never get boring!

"Sick" episode!
general-melchett15 February 2007
Snot flies through the air in gloopy streams and blows up glass vases. Petrol bombs explode and clear sinuses. 6-inch nails are used for acupuncture. Bin bags are tied over heads and knives about to be rammed up bottoms before crazy homicidal maniacs come in and hold everyone hostage. This is what happens when the Young Ones are ill. And it is truly hilarious to behold. Everything happens in abundance in this episode - the green liquid flying from Neil's mouth, the size of the petrol bomb exploding, and a riot happening outside started by the Young Ones. Though by the end of the episode so much has happened that you'll have forgotten the Young Ones were ever sick at all, this is so funny that you won't care, and besides, when does the Young Ones stick to set agendas? Brilliant and truly sick! 10/10

''Looks like a negative reality inversion!''

Warning: Spoilers
A fondly remembered episode of 'The Young Ones'.

The lads are struck down with bad colds, so much so they fail to notice a full scale riot taking place in their street, until of course a psychotic nutter breaks into their house wielding a shotgun. This is Brian Damage, an escaped convict and mass murderer.

To make matters worse, Neil's snooty parents are due to visit. When they arrive, they berate Neil for his lifestyle and ( in a blatant moment of ignoring the illusion of the show being a sitcom ) for taking part in such a crude show and not a gentle sitcom like 'The Good Life'..

This brilliant episode is most famous for the scene in which Vyvyan caustically expresses his hatred for 'The Good Life', as well as an appearance from Madness, performing 'Our House' in the middle of the street riot. Neil's parents are played by Brian Outlon ( who specialised in playing toffee-nosed men ) and Peggy Thorpe Bates ( in what was her final television appearance before her death ).

Funniest bit - Vyvyan destroying the opening titles to 'The Good Life'.
