A great episode.
Terry has withdrawn somewhat, staying in and letting life pass him by. Bob tries to push him, and invites him to dinner with his new friend Alan Boyle.
This first series just gets better and better, this one is hilarious. It reminded me of Abigail's party in parts. A real snapshot of life at the time, people were very much still governed by the social order, the class system.
That dinner scene was side splitting, Brenda went to great efforts to provide the perfect evening dinner, asparagus and wafer thin mints, I can't imagine she was ready for Terry's trip down memory lane.
Lots of Andy Capp references, and of course Bolam would play that part a few years later.
What surprised me was seeing Thelma stick up for Terry, the way she explained things to Brenda was a cracking moment.
Julian Holloway was good as Alan, best known perhaps for his roles on the Carry on films.
9/10.
