- Col. O'Neill is dismissed from the SGC for stealing alien technology, and is subsequently approached to participate in an even more covert Stargate operation.
- While negotiating on the new Tollan home world, SG1 are refused any technical weapons help, so O'Neill steals a defense device. He returns to the SGC and is suspended by Hammond. While on suspension, he is visited by Maybourne and told that there is a team off-world that illegally captures technology for Earth. He offers O'Neill command of this team. O'Neill uses the pretense of retiring off-world to leave through the Stargate. But once off-world, he meets Maybourne's team. Is everything as it appears though?—Anonymous
- Back on Tollan, Daniel and the rest of the SG-1 team are negotiating a new trade agreement. When the Tollans again refuse to share any of their advanced technologies, Col. O'Neill lashes out and stomps out of the room. On the way, he steals the Tollan device that renders weapons useless. Back at Stargate Command, O'Neill is insubordinate toward General Hammond and makes it clear that the SGC should just take whatever they want from other worlds. His bad behavior continues to the point that Hammond has no choice but to ask Jack to retire. Not long afterward, Jack is approached by someone he's had dealings with in the past - someone who shares Jack's political views and has a tempting proposition for him. Not all is as straightforward as it seems however.—garykmcd
- The SG-1 goes to Tollan expecting to negotiate weapons technology to defend Earth from the Goa'uld; however, High Chancellor Travell refuses the proposal. The upset Colonel O'Neill decides to steal the defense device that disables weapons. When General Hammond learns about his unethical procedure, he offers Court Martial or early retirement to Jack. He prefers retirement, and soon Jack is approached by Maybourne, who invites him to command a rogue team that steals alien technology. O'Neill reaches rock bottom and accepts the invitation. Soon, he meets his team on another planet and they travel to steal an Asgard device. What has happened with Jack?—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- When Tollan High Chancellor Travell haughtily refuses to negotiate any technology transfer to earth, Jack forgets about SG-1's diplomatic mission, storms out, and steals a defensive weapon which he takes back to SGC, where the general is not at all amused by his insubordinate 'pragmatical' way to gather military capabilities. When the Tollans demand both the weapon back and justice against the thief, Jack is granted only one alternative to court-martial: early retirement. Even Daniel is received coolly, learning Jack is bitter because the Pentagon dropped the plan to give him command of a second SGC in space. Jack's next visitor promises an alternative job too good to ignore: NID Colonel Harry Maybourne, who makes him first accept total secrecy to either join or disappear. Jack is shown an alternative stargate on another planet, where he is to take charge of one of the units that steal technology, which is denied to the 'ethical' SG-teams. Once he knows all about their operations, participating in the delivery of Asgard technology through a traitor in SGC, with SG-1 now being commanded by Colonel Makepeace, Jack's hidden agenda kicks in.—KGF Vissers
