Episode 3.5
There is an element of the plot that reminded me of Daniel Craig's debut in Casino Royale. That first cold blooded kill.
The target is a rogue scientist Eric Newland intent on working with the North Koreans in developing biological weapons. Zoe and Danny are tailing Newland on a ferry, their initial task was just to persuade Newland to stop working for the North Koreans. When the order changes to an assassination attempt, both of them are unhappy with the turn of events. Zoe is sidelined because of seasickness.
Danny has killed before in the line of defence but never like this. He is conflicted with the moral dilemma this entails. Adam Carter attempts to talk through the process as he needs to kill Newland with a lethal insulin overdose. Danny realises that life for him will never be the same again.
A psychological approach in this episode and it allows both Oyelowo and Penry-Jones to shine.
As for Zoe, she knows that her boyfriend Will might have put her at risk via his unreliable brother. She breaks up with him.
