In the trial scene, the prosecution calls Kevin Wentworth, the defendant, to the stand. In the U.S. the prosecution cannot call a defendant to the stand. Only the defense can, and only if it chooses.
During his testimony Kevin says that "Lady" by Lionel Richie was playing on the radio. Although Lionel Richie wrote and produced the song, the singer was Kenny Rogers.
During the cross-examination of Paula, Mr. Chadwick refers to Katie as "the plaintiff", a term used for a party in a civil case. This is a criminal case, not a civil case. A competent defense attorney in a criminal case would call her "Miss McBain."
