- Bret Maverick: There's a small error there, Foursquare. What pappy said was "He who fights and runs away lives to run away another day."
- Bret Maverick: Hurry up and close the door. They're both coming to and I just don't have the heart hit 'em again.
- Foursquare Farley: You know, I don't think I ever hit a man before in my life.
- Bret Maverick: Well, it's a hard thing to do.
- Foursquare Farley: I rather enjoyed it.

- Foursquare Farley: Two thousand dollars? What for?
- Bret Maverick: Well, Foursquare, I sorta rented you house to him. But only for two months.
- Foursquare Farley: Bret, you didn't tell him about the secret door into the bank vault, did you? Now I don't want to criticize your friend but, that Tamblyn man didn't look trustworthy to me.
- Bret Maverick: Well you're wrong about him being a friend of mine. You're right about him being untrustworthy, and, no, I didn't tell him about your secret door. But I will tell him... in a year or so, after you've move back into your house and bricked up the door. Then I'll tell him. I just want to see the look on his face when I tell him that, for two months, he lived in the house that had a... an unlocked door to the vault of the Denver State Bank.

- Junior Kallikak: I'll call.
- Proprietor: Ten cents? That's too steep for me.
- Bret Maverick: Uh, you must have a pretty good hand, Junior.
- Junior Kallikak: Just tolerable.

- Junior Kallikak: If they'd been aces, I might have raised you a nickel.
- Bret Maverick: You win junior. You're a real sport.
- Marshal Ratcliffe: Now, I imagine he can be a pretty tough hombre. So, don't you go getting heroic, yourself.
- Bret Maverick: [chuckles] I'll try to remember that, Marshal.
- Foursquare Farley: How have you been? You look as if the world was treating you well.
- Bret Maverick: Well, the more they treat me, the better I like it.
- Marshal Ratcliffe: Yes sir, like I always say, it takes a thief to catch a thief.
- Bret Maverick: Well, I don't like the way you put that, Marshal.
- Marshal Ratcliffe: Oh, uh, no offense, Maverick, it's just an expression. Maybe I shoulda said "Birds of a feather flock together."
- Bret Maverick: Well, I don't like that any better.
- Marshal Ratcliffe: "Takes one to know one?"
- Big Ed Murphy: What do ya mean, I need silence? I could crack this safe with a hundred cannons around me.
- Bret Maverick: Foursquare, do you really realize what you're doing? The way you go about it, the bank is actually paying you interest on their money. And if you ever get caught, Methuselah himself wouldn't be able to stand the sentence they're gonna throw at you.
