- TriviaWhen Mary answers the radio, it's an inside joke, as the voice on the other end - who's asking for 'Fred', is Harry Corden, a noted voice-over actor, and amongst his best-known roles were as 'Fred Flintstone', and (at the time of filming his episode, he was) 'Charlie - the Tuna'

Classic TV Xmas Countdown Episode #52
It's her first Xmas at WJM and Mary is blindsided when Lou tells her she must work on Xmas Day.
The series was still finding its' footing the first season or two, so this is just an okay effort, but not great. The opening scene is cute when we see Mary's MERRY desk all decorated to the hilt. Best part is Lou asking, "Got the nativity scene in your drawer?" and Mary being Mary... Yup, she sure does!
Mary and Rhoda open their gifts early and Rhoda reveals she uses pantyhose as an Xmas stocking because "they hold more".
Alone at the station, Mary watches TV and phone chats with a transmitter operator. When "The Nutcracker" came on TV, I was sure Mary (being a dancer in real life) was going to start pirouetting around the newsroom, but she only sways back and forth a little bit.
Being the only true Xmas episode in the series (I didn't count Season 5's "Not a Christmas Story") this is really your only choice if you want an MTM holiday show. 6/10.
