- Quotes
Chester: It kind of feels like somebody stuck a butcher knife in there and just turned the handle on me.
Dr. Galen 'Doc' Adams: I'll give you some free advice. Stop puttin' all that salt pork in your stomach and those dried beans, and get some fresh greens in there. That's what you need. And stay out of saloons.
Chester: It don't hurt that bad.

What's done cannot be undone
The usual mild manner Doc Adams is walking down Front Street with Chester when these three cowboys come riding in stopping at the Long Branch. Doc recognizes one of the rides as Clem Maddow a person he knew many years ago. The next thing that comes out of Doc's mouth is "I'm going to kill a man".
Chester goes and gets the Marshal just as Doc is calling Clem outside for a gunfight. Doc has his Colt 36 pointed right at Clem when Matt puts a stop to the situation by making Doc see that he is important to all the citizens of Dodge. Clem, which has rode in with his brother George and another man named Ben Bartlett, is actually grateful to the Marshal for putting a stop to Doc's invitation. This lets us know that something has happened in the past between the two people.
Later on Clem is shot in the back and the only evidence pointing to the suspect is the fact that Doc said he would kill him. Even with his friends objecting, the only person in town that can save Clem's life is Doc Adams. And during the operation we learn why Doc was full of hatred for Clem Maddow.
This is an episode that was such an enjoyment to watch that the show went by too fast. Milburn Stone was excellent in this show that featured Doc as a suspect of murder. And we learn that Doc had a past that would haunt any man through life. Good Show.
