The painting that Maris is helping to re-enact, "Martyrdom of St. Ursula by Attila the Hun" that Niles mentions is an actual mural by Johan Schmitt (1825-1898), painted from 1868-72. It is one of several murals commissioned by the Ursuline Convent in Louisville, Kentucky. The description Niles (David Hyde Pierce) gives of the painting is indeed accurate.

Goofs
The televised news clip of Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) stating that "Maris Crane and Niles Crane will soon be executed" is spoken with significantly different inflection than the statement that Frasier is shown delivering in the previous scene.
