When Basil says goodnight to Mr Leeman and says that he'll be hoping to catch a few hours himself later that night, Basil looks at his watch. In the next shot he is pointing, not looking at his watch.
Not only do the room numbers change from episode to episode, the whole upstairs layout changes. For instance in the episodes "The Kipper and the Corpse" and Communication Problems (1979), at the top of the stairs there are three rooms on the right and a room on the left. Yet in The Psychiatrist (1979) the room on the left seems to become a broom cupboard where Basil spends the night after Sybil locks him out.
The couple leaves the bar before Basil, yet he somehow manages to overtake them by the time they reach reception.
When Mr. Leeman is found dead, Basil thinks it's due to the kippers and promptly stuffs them up his sweater vest. He soon manages to chuck one out the window but the other remains under his sweater vest. Somehow, between shots, this second kipper climbs up inside his shirt, tail first, so that the tail ends up sticking out at the V-neck. It's not seen for a while and then suddenly it's there.
When Basil burns Doctor Price's sausages, he moves the pan from the element to the one along side. However next scene in the kitchen, the pan is back on the original element.
On discovering a sudden death, the proper procedure is to call the Coroners' Office, via the Police, so that the area can be examined in case of "suspicious circumstances". Otherwise, nobody should enter the area or interfere with the body or surroundings until any investigation is concluded.
By the time Basil and Manuel start dragging the corpse around, rigor mortis would usually have set in. This would make it impossible to perch him on a chair, stuff him in a cupboard, have his arm fall out, and so on.
The laundry basket in the kitchen has number 4 on the lid (clearly seen when Basil starts to cook Doctor Price's sausages). This is the basket that the body is placed in. When Basil opens the replacement basket left by the laundry truck drivers with no body in it, it still has the number 4 on the lid. It is entirely possible that the number 4 indicates that the basket comes from the Hotel, so the laundry service would replace the basket with another basket of the same number.
As the closing credits start to roll, and the laundry van is driving away, the sign over the gate shows the real name of the location, "Wooburn Grange Country Club", in reverse.
When the corpse's arm falls out of the closet, the actor turns his obviously alive hand over.
When the dead body is put on a chair in the office, he is clearly seen blinking.
When Basil pokes Manuel in the eye it's very evident that Basil just moved his finger down the right side of Manuel's face and Manuel acts as if he has been poked in the eye.
When the dead man is being carried, he can be seen breathing at one point.
When Basil stands in front of the body and Mr. Leeman's colleague wants his hat as they are leaving, surely from the positions of the two other colleagues, they would easily see the body.
The shadow of a boom mic can be seen on the wall behind the counter where Mr Leeman's corpse is stowed.
While Polly is calling the undertaker and a guest comes near the desk, a boom mic is visible in the upper right corner.
When Basil, Polly and Manual take Mr. Leeman's body into a guest's room for a second time, actor Ballard Berkeley (Major Gowen) pops out at the stairwell to look, seemingly unaware it was a take.
