Violence & Gore

Severe
18 of 27 found this severe
Realistic, graphic and disturbing war violence. The second half of the film presents dirty, harrowing combat, with lots of blood, exposed entrails and limbs are blown off.
A soldier's face is blown off during an air attack. Bloody, graphic and disturbing.
A horse is mortally wounded by an explosion. A gaping hole can be clearly seen in its side. Bloody and very sad.
Whenever someone is shot, blood splatters and we see bodies riddled with bloody, gaping bullet holes. Lots of battle scenes with several soldiers set on fire and screaming in pain; many soldiers are shot multiple times, lots of explosions, one accompanied by a tank being blown up by a mortar.
A soldier mans a machine gun against an amphibious assault: an ensuing explosion rips his arm off. He slowly dies, groaning in pain, and we clearly see the bloody stump while two other soldiers look on in horror. Very bloody and disturbing.
A soldier shoots an enemy soldier with his sidearm and blood splatters. The enemy soldier drops a grenade and it detonates, sending another soldier flying as he is ripped up by shrapnel.
A group of Japanese soldiers commit suicide by holding grenades to their chests. We see the explosions with accompanying blood splatter. A few have their faces blown off and their arms severed. We are then shown their dead bodies afterwards with exposed entrails oozing out of their bodies and viscera sprawled over the floor. Very graphic and disturbing.
A soldier shoots himself in the head with a pistol and we see blood spray out. It splatters onto the face of another onlooking soldier. Very bloody, but brief.
A soldier is set on fire by a flamethrower. He stumbles around, screaming in agony, until he dies a few seconds later.
A main character has an explosion go off in front of him and is rendered blind. We later see his face as he takes off a blindfold, and his appearance (albeit not graphic) may be disturbing to some. He then commits suicide with his rifle offscreen.
