Actor Jon-Paul Gates became so proficient with an axe while preparing for the film that he would regularly regale the crew by doing a 'William Tell' and knocking an apple off director Robbie Moffat's head. Moffat claimed that he allowed him to do this 'in lieu of salary.'

a great small company film

Excellent use of backdrops and scenery. Script a little mediocre at times, but better than previous Winter Warrior films. The fight scenes were great in some shots and poor in others, due to the same guys used over and over again. Even with a low budget, maybe if they'd got more people as extras, that would 'flesh out' the scenes and give more variety. Having a few more people duking it out in background whilst main fighters lock horns in front of camera give a sense of realism - obviously not every fight scene, but in just enough so you see things happen and with extra faces to show depth and the possibility that there are actually more people around. This is definitely better than some of the other films they've brought out, but hopefully they will provide bigger and better next time.
