Jason Statham's Latest Action Flick With 49% Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Climbing Streaming Charts
Image
We all love Jason Statham, and it shows with every release of his. The English actor is in a league of his own when it comes to action-heavy roles, carving a niche for himself with features like the Transporter franchise, Crank, and The Beekeeper. His latest release and second collaboration with director David Ayer, A Working Man, has had a modest box office run but is grabbing eyeballs on streaming. According to FlixPatrol, A Working Man is steadily climbing the Vudu charts, standing tall at #3 behind animated Dogman at #1, and Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World at #2 on the Top 10 list. The feature is a through-and-through action flick with an emotional core and thrilling plot. No wonder fans are enjoying the feature at their leisure.

The movie has divided the audience and critics, as seen in the split Rotten Tomatoes score: while critics give it a 49%, the audience score...

One Of Taylor Sheridan’s Lowest Rated Movies Could’ve Made Michael B. Jordan The New Jason Statham
Image
Before the Yellowstone universe made him a household name, Taylor Sheridan was already making huge waves in Hollywood. However, not every project of his landed as intended, and one of his lesser-known projects of 2021 was Without Remorse, which starred Michael B. Jordan in the lead.

The movie had everything you’d expect from a hit, but despite all of that, it didn’t land nicely with the audiences and became one of Sheridan’s lowest-rated movies. Still, many believe that if things had gone differently, this could’ve been the movie to turn Jordan into Hollywood’s next big action star – maybe even better than Jason Statham.

Why Taylor Sheridan’s Without Remorse was a missed opportunity for Michael B. Jordan?

Taylor Sheridan can easily be one of the most sought-after filmmakers today with a plethora of projects to his name. In this, however, the Yellowstone franchise has given him the most popularity,...

It’s Been 10 Years Since Jason Statham Gave a Threequel Update on His Wildest $79M Movie Franchise
Image
It’s been a whole decade since Jason Statham teased fans with an update on a potential third installment of his adrenaline-inducing franchise, Crank. Popular for its thrilling action scenes, excellent editing, and a plot that, basically, defied logic yet never failed to thrill viewers, the franchise stands as one of the actor’s most loved cult hits.

The story of Chev Chelios struck a chord with fans wanting an unfiltered, exhilarating watch. Who wouldn’t love to see an assassin fighting to keep his adrenaline in a constant high in order to stay alive? Despite the franchise garnering a combined gross of over $79 million globally and the film series retaining a loyal fan base, Crank 3 remains unrealized. Though Statham has expressed interest in a third part, with each passing year, the possibility of a new installment is feeling more and more like a far-fetched cinematic dream.

How the Jason...

Wtf Happened to Jason Statham?
Image
When you think of Jason Statham, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? If it’s a fit bald dude beating the shit out of a nameless goon, good. That means we’re on the same page. Range is not Jason Statham’s forte, nor would we expect his characters to be able to spell “forte”. But the man has marked himself as maybe The action star in modern movies. And that’s good enough for us and his millions of fans. As Frank Martin said in The Transporter: Never change the deal.

Jason Statham was born on July 26th, 1967 in Shirebrook, England. A natural and gifted athlete, Statham was competing in everything from football to diving (he would later be inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame). Then came modelling because, well, look at that jawline!

But it was the screen he was destined for.

Jason Statham Believes He Has One Thing In Common With Sylvester Stallone
Image
Actor Jason Statham and Hollywood mainstay Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on six feature films together. They starred opposite each other in four "Expendables" movies (with Statham taking the lead over Stallone for the abysmal "Expend4bles"), and Statham starred in the Stallone-scripted "Homefront" in 2013. Most recently, Stallone wrote the script for the 2025 David Ayer-directed Statham vehicle "A Working Man." The pair, one can infer, know each other's work very well.

Statham, 57, has long been one of cinema's most reliable badasses, often playing cops, mercenaries, assassins, killer, or other ultra-capable dolers of violence. He has done a lot of his own stunts, and he ran down his injuries in a 2023 interview with Collider. He did a real helicopter stunt for the movie "Crank," which he said was quite difficult, and he recalled having to actually jump from a moving jetski onto the back of a speeding bus in "Transporter 2." Surprisingly,...

A Working Man North America Box Office: 2nd Weekend Update(Photo Credit –YouTube)

The exhibitors are rejoicing in the arrival of A Minecraft Movie, but Jason Statham’s film is slowly progressing toward new milestones. A Working Man is set to achieve an amazing feat involving Statham’s filmography. The film is performing better than the Disney film Snow White. However, the actioner experienced a harsh drop on Wednesday after Tuesday, Discount Day. Keep scrolling for more.

The movie was made on a reported budget of $40 million, and it will recover that over the weekend. It once again outgrossed Snow White with its collection on Friday. The Disney tentpole movie is struggling to hit the $100 million mark at the domestic box office. Jason has found chiefly success at the box office for his films. He has a dedicated fanbase who wait for one of the biggest action stars’ every theatrical release.

Jason Statham’s 'A Working Man' Is Perfect for Sylvester Stallone Fans
Image
Few Hollywood movie stars have had an illustrious and celebrated career quite like Jason Statham, with the beloved action hero starring in a slew of silver-screen knockouts over his more than two decades in show business. From thrilling flicks like Crank, The Mechanic, and Wrath of Man to fan-favorite franchises such as Transporter, The Expendables, and Fast & Furious, Statham has made a respected name for himself as one of the cinema's most fearless and commanding performers.

For the 2025 action thriller A Working Man, Statham reunited with both director David Ayer (The Beekeeper) and his Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone to help bring the popular Chuck Dixon novel Levon's Trade to life, with the gripping film following an ex-Royal Marines commando as he attempts to live a quiet existence with his daughter only to be pulled back into his former life when a teenager is kidnapped by human traffickers. Naturally, bodies...

Jason Statham's 'A Working Man' Isn't Getting as Wide of a Release as 'The Beekeeper'
Image
Last week's major new release, Disney's Snow White, is set to maintain its grip on the top spot at the domestic box office this weekend, as it struggles to pass the $100 million mark. Snow White will have to contend with this week's new release, theJason Statham action vehicle A Working Man. The counter-programmer unites Statham with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer, who is still trying to reclaim a spot on the A-list after the disappointing critical performance of Suicide Squad almost a decade ago. A Working Man debuted to inferior reviews compared to The Beekeeper. And this isn't the only category in which it finds itself trailing that film.

A Working Man was released in 3,262 theaters nationwide. By comparison, The Beekeeper was launched in 3,303 locations in January last year. The movie grossed over $65 million domestically and a little more than $150 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $40 million. It...

How Does Jason Statham's New Movie Stack Up to His Best Films?
Image
Jason Statham’s latest action thriller begins playing in theaters everywhere this weekend, but how does it stack up to his other movies? Early previews start today for A Working Man, but enough reviews for the film have come in to give it a 65% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This comes from 37 reviews at the time of writing, so it is subject to change as more reviews come in over the weekend, but this is still a solid score that falls only slightly below The Beekeeper, which earned a 71% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, The Beekeeper netted a strong 92% score from audiences on the aggregate site. If A Working Man is also well-received by audiences, it could become a box office hit similar to The Beekeeper, which grossed over $150 million globally.

A Working Man’s 65% Rotten Tomatoes score falls outside the top 10 on the list of the highest-rated Jason Statham movies.

Jason Statham at an event for The Beekeeper (2024)
Interview: David Ayer and David Harbour Talk A Working Man
Jason Statham at an event for The Beekeeper (2024)
Ever since Jason Statham shot to stardom, I’ve found myself quite the fan. Whether it’s Crank, The Transporter, or Safe, I dig the guy. And his latest, the David Ayer directed A Working Man, happens to offer a fun time with the on-screen action. Jason Statham portrays Levon Cade, a good dad and a construction worker. However, when a local girl is taken, he decides to help out a friend, and retool his special skills. Yep, the dude has a history in the world of counter-terrorism. The film also stars Michael Pena, Jason Flemyng, and David Harbour.

We recently had the pleasure of speaking one on one with both Mr. Harbour and Mr. Ayer. For David, he discussed working with Ayer and Statham. And while he has a smaller role, the actor commands the screen every single time. As for Ayer, we talked about taking on an action...

Novocaine
Image
“Meet Nathan Caine. He can’t feel pain.” As far as poster taglines go, that is an all-timer: neatly and succinctly boiling down a zany high concept into seven simple words. For yes, Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid) has congenital insensitivity to pain, a condition that comes in very handy when he inadvertently finds himself in an action-comedy film. In its outlandish premise tailor-made for wacky genre mishaps, it shares some ingredients with the nutty 2006 Jason Statham flick Crank — even if its execution is not quite as bold. (No falling out of a helicopter and surviving here.)

Novocaine’s Nathan is not dissimilar from Jack Quaid’s most famous role thus far, Hughie in The Boys: a bumbling, nerdy everyman, reluctantly thrust into a tough-guy world. When we meet him, he’s a kind-hearted credit union assistant manager, who mostly spends his spare time playing video games with the gamertag...

A Kung-Fu Classic With A High Rotten Tomatoes Score Changed Jason Statham's Life
Image
In "Snatch," things aren't looking good for bare-knuckle boxing promoter Turkish (Jason Statham) when he loses his fighter to an injury and wants to switch him out for "One Punch" Mickey O'Neil (Brad Pitt). The news doesn't go down well with violent pig-obsessed crime lord Brick Top (Alan Ford), who stands to lose a lot of money from the bets that've already been placed. "I don't care if he's Muhammad 'I'm hard' Bruce Lee. You can't change fighters!" he protests.

A British gangster movie might not seem the most obvious place for a reference to the martial arts movie legend that is Bruce Lee, but it just goes to show how the enduring legacy of the screen icon has infiltrated just about every corner of popular culture. He has also influenced a vast range of directors and actors like Statham, who has become a huge action star in his own...

Is 'Novocaine' a Stealth Remake of Jason Statham's 'Crank'?
Image
Novocaine feels like a love letter to great action films. The new action-comedy is intense, as the main character is unable to feel pain and takes some brutal hits throughout the runtime. Some scenes are clear homages, like how Home Alone inspired a scene with booby traps or how the gimmick in Upgrade gave the directors inspiration for the fight scenes.

However, a classic Jason Statham thriller felt particularly similar to Novocaine, and it even seems like the team behind Novocaine tried to reference Statham's 2006 cult-classic, Crank. Jack Quaid's Novocaine character might not be a hitman like Jason Statham in Crank, but he certainly proves he has the skillset for it.

'Crank' and 'Novocaine' Share Quite a Few Similarities

Novocaine almost feels like someone tried to remake Crank two decades later. Jack Quaid's Novocaine character, Nathan Caine, might not be an assassin like Jason Statham's Crank character, Chev Chelios.

Jason Statham has fashioned himself as one of the most prominent action stars working today. Following his feature film debut in 1998 with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Statham has worked with notable action directors such as Guy Ritchie several times. He has become the face of several franchises, including the Transporter movies, the Crank films, and as an ensemble member in The Expendables franchise. He has also acted as Deckard Shaw in the Fast and Furious franchise.

Statham's films tend to do well at the box office. As a leading actor, his films have made over $1.9 billion collectively, and he tacks on over $4 billion if one counts his work as a lead ensemble member. From ‘Deadpool’ to ‘Hot Fuzz’ — the best streaming action comedies

From outrageous buddy cop antics to superhero chaos, these action comedies bring the heat.

Regal Theaters has a cool program where on Monday nights they offer a “Mystery Movie” night for $5. You don’t know the movie you’re going to see, but it’s usually an upcoming release. My wife and I went last week… and it ended up being a movie I had circled on my release calendar: “Novocaine.” And I’m so happy to report the movie is awesome. It follows this mild-mannered bank executive (played by Jack Quaid) who literally can’t feel pain – like at all. But when a robbery goes down and his coworker gets taken hostage, he has to step up in the most ridiculous, over-the-top way possible. It’s got some of the most inventive action sequences I’ve ever seen – all using his special ability to make it happen. Watching it...

Soulja Boy vs Chris Brown Boxing Match: Floyd Mayweather’s Reaction to Soulja Boy Boasting His Knockout Power Shows What a Circus It Was

If you’re going to talk the talk, you better be ready to walk the walk. Or in Soulja Boy’s case, if you’re going to claim knockout power, you better not be all talk and no punches. A throwback 2017 video featuring Floyd Mayweather and Boy is making the rounds once again, bringing back memories of one of the most bizarre celebrity boxing ‘feuds’ in recent history.

This feud blew up like a cheap firecracker—loud and explosive, but ultimately not much to show for it. They weren’t just throwing verbal jabs on social media; oh no, they wanted to settle their differences in the ring. Really? Yes!

In Hollywood’s entertainment industry, there haven’t really been all that many interesting rivalries, but the ones that have been are more than enough. The currently raging one is the Soulja Boy-Marlon Wayans beef, which seems to be escalating with each passing minute.

While the recent addition was from Wayans as he brutally schooled the 34-year-old record producer cum rapper over the transphobic comment he made on Wayans’ kid, Soulja Boy aka DeAndre Cortez Way has come up with his response. This is because he recently went on an unhinged rant against Wayans.

No Pain Action Comedy 'Novocaine' Super Bowl Spot with Jack Quaid

When the girl of his dreams (played by Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back. Jack Quaid stars as Nate Caine (a similar name to "novocaine" obviously) along with Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson, Betty Gabriel, Matt Walsh, Lou Beatty Jr., Van Hengst, Conrad Kemp, Jacob Batalon. What Jason Statham Regrets The Most About His Acting Career
Image
Jason Statham has starred in some of the best action movies ever made, as well as some of the worst video game flops of all time. Through these highs and lows, the actor has probably gained plenty of wisdom, but he's also experienced some regrets. While speaking to Metro back in 2012, the "Crank" star revealed that he wishes that he wasn't synonymous with doing his own stunts, as it became expected he would always perform them. As he put it:

"I did 'Transporter' with Luc Besson and I ended up doing pretty much everything. So, from that day forth, it was a slippery slope to try and change things -- until I couldn't."

While Statham is still alive and well to share his stories, there are some stunts he wishes that he didn't do due to how dangerous and potentially life-ending they were. The actor hasn't come out...

Wtf Happened to Crank?
Image
As far as modern action heroes go, one of the most enduring has certainly been Jason Statham, who’s headlined a slew of modestly budgeted action flicks that have made him one of the few genre staples left in the game. His career has been interesting, with him alternating smaller-scaled action flicks with bigger, tentpole event films, such as the Fast & Furious films and The Meg 1 & 2. Yet, the movie that established his persona wasn’t the Transporter films or any of his Guy Ritchie movies. Nope, instead, it was a small-scale but ambitious quasi-remake of the film noir classic D.O.A that put him on the map in a big way. That’s right, folks, it’s time to figure out Wtf Happened to Crank!

Jump back to 1997, when a young English director named Guy Ritchie released a little film called Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which caused a sensation.

Jason Statham's 'Crank' Sequel Is Better than the First One
Image
While the age-old adage "less is more" is sound filmmaking advice, the opposite applies to Jason Statham's relentless action movies. A case in point is Crank 2: High Voltage, a balls-to-the-wall action sequel that goes so far over the top that it dwarfs the absurdity of the original to leave a big, fat grin etched on the faces of hardcore Statham fanatics. Critics were also impressed, giving Crank 2 slightly better reviews than its predecessor.

Boasting a wild premise that forces Statham's Chev Chelios into a ticking-clock health scenario, Crank 2's high-voltage electricity derives from the extreme plot, flagrant fight scenes, hyper-violence, morbid humor, kinetic camerawork, Statham's breathless stunt work, and more. With the film recently celebrating its 15th anniversary, it's time to hook up the jumper cables and bring Crank 2: High Voltage back to life.

Will Jason Statham Ever Play Frank Martin Again? The Transporter 5's Future Explained
Image
The Transporter is one of Jason Statham’s most iconic action movie franchises, but it remains unclear if he’ll ever play Frank Martin again in Transporter 5. The franchise debuted in 2002 with the release of The Transporter, which marked Statham’s first headlining role in a major action vehicle. The titular stoic mercenary-turned-driver quickly became the defining role of Statham’s career and opened the door to other opportunities in the genre. Not only did he go on to star in other action films like War, Crank, and The Mechanic; he reprised his role as Frank in two more Transporter movies.

The trilogy got bigger, bolder, and better with each movie. 2005’s Transporter 2 expanded the scope with even more bonkers action scenes and 2008’s Transporter 3 became the highest-grossing entry in the series. The Transporter franchise continued after that, with a fourth film and a TV spinoff, but Statham never played Frank again.

The ending of Guy Ritchie's 2021 heist thriller Wrath of Man sees Jason Statham's H finding absolution. Statham, the beloved leading man and action star known for his iconic works such as Crank (2006), Spy (2015), The Meg (2018), and the recent sleeper hit The Beekeeper, is in top form in Wrath of Man, a gripping story of revenge and greed. Wrath of Man's cast also features Josh Hartnett, Holt McCallany, and Scott Eastwood as the main antagonist Jan.

Wrath of Man was the fourth feature film collaboration between Ritchie and Statham before their fifth movie together, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, which also stars Josh Hartnett, was released in 2023. After joining the armored cash truck service Fortico at the beginning of the film, Statham's H protagonist turns out to be a former heist man himself whose son, Dougie (Eli Brown), is killed by an elite group of army veterans turned cash truck robbers.

Who Is Mister Terrific & How Powerful Is He Compared To Superman
Image
Mister Terrific makes his big-screen debut in James Gunn's Superman, where the ultra-intelligent Dcu hero shows off his abilities as he teams up with David Corenswet's Superman. The Dcu's Gods and Monsters chapter introduces a wide variety of DC characters in both live-action and animation. James Gunn's Superman, the Dcu's first movie, kicks off long after Earth's first metahumans and vigilantes unveiled their existence to the world. Among these are villains such as the mythical sorceress Circe and heroes such as Mister Terrific and his superhero squad.

In James Gunn's Superman, Mister Terrific leads a team of heroes that serves as a metahuman police force that intervenes in dangerous battles. This team is composed of Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion's human Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced's reincarnated Egyptian princess Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan's shapeshifting hero Rex Mason a.k.a. Jack Quaid's Novacaine Gets Explosive First Trailer
Image
Jack Quaid is no stranger to action, having been involved in four seasons of The Boys, with a fifth and final one on the way, but it looks like the actor is ready to take the lead in his very own high-octane action flick. The first trailer for Novocaine has been released, and the first look appears to be one hell of a thrill ride that would make the biggest fan of some of Jason Statham's high-concept action vehicles very proud.

Novocaine sees Quaid playing Nathan Caine, a seemingly mild-mannered man who is prone to being introverted and also suffers from a truly rare disorder called Cip, which means that he doesn't feel pain. This condition is sure to come in handy when his girlfriend is taken hostage during a bank robbery and Nathan has to do whatever he can to rescue her. In addition to Quaid, the film also stars Amber Midthunder,...

'Mechanic: Resurrection' is Tubi Streaming Hit Again
Image
Every box office bomb of 2024 must be looking at Jason Statham and wondering what they have to do to steal some of his secret sauce. As well as his new hit The Beekeeper at the beginning of 2024, one of his older movies just refuses to lay down and die on Tubi. That movie is Mechanic: Resurrection, the panned 2016 action thriller sequel to 2011’s The Mechanic, which has refused to stay out of the free streamer’s list of most-watched movies.

In Mechanic: Resurrection, Statham reprises his role as Arthur Bishop, a master assassin coerced out of retirement to carry out more increasingly impossible hits. The movie delivers a masterclass from the Statham Bible, with intense and over-the-top action sequences, joined by a generally simple plot, and a big helping of the charismatic charm of the dome-headed tough guy. Although the movie performed terribly with critics, and not much better with audiences,...

Jason Statham's Sci-Fi Action Thriller Is Already Climbing Streaming Chart After Switching Homes 4 Days Ago
Image
Action movie legend Jason Statham's 2008 sci-fi thriller impresses on its new streaming debut, just four days after switching platforms. Statham shot to fame when he was cast in the role of Bacon in Guy Ritchie's directorial debut, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and paired with him again for a leading role in Snatch. The critical and commercial success of the movies led to him starring in The Transporter trilogy and movies like Crank, The Italian Job remake, Hummingbird, and Safe, further cementing him as one of Hollywood's leading action stars.

Statham has continued to carve out a niche in the action-thriller genre, with a few showings against type, such as a supporting role in the romantic drama London, and a memorable co-starring turn in the action-comedy Spy. In 2010, he starred as Lee Christmas in The Expendables, a role he has played in all four movies in The Expendables franchise,...

A.P. Bio Cast & Character Guide
Image
The former NBC sitcom A.P. Bio has a robust cast full of hilarious main and supporting characters. Mike O'Brien of Saturday Night Live acclaim created the original sitcom, which first premiered on February 1, 2018. The show is centered around professor turned high-school teacher Jack Griffin, who is played by Glenn Howerton of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. A.P. Bio follows Jack as he transitions from being a philosophy professor at Harvard University to an A.P. Biology teacher at his hometown high school after falling from grace due to a YouTube video.

A.P. Bio ran for two seasons on NBC before moving to Peacock for its final two seasons. The series was canceled twice even though it maintained an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, with its second and third seasons earning perfect 100% critic scores. Despite the positive reviews of A.P. Bio, there was not enough consistent viewership for the series to continue past four seasons.

Cast Of The Meg: Where You've Seen The Actors Before
Image
The cast of The Meg was a big reason for the shark movie's box office success when it was released back in 2018. A loose adaptation of the book, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten, the film follows a group of scientists who encounter a 75-foot-long Megalodon shark while on a rescue mission to save a trapped research station called the Mana. Posing a threat to both the scientists and the people on land, Jason Statham's Jonas Taylor and his team must face off against this gigantic beast in a confrontation that is equally silly and entertaining.

At the time, The Meg was the most expensive shark movie ever made (via THR). While the film received mixed reviews, that investment paid off as it earned $529 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo), a large part of that coming China, where the film is most popular.

Jason Statham and Jet Lis War Shouldve Been a Hit, so Why Did It Flop?
Image
When it comes to the box office, the action genre can be fickle (unless you are Tom Cruise) with big names not always bringing the guaranteed payday. It happens to the best and beefiest of the genre, but when two fan favorites come together, success is almost expected. Both Jet Li and Jason Statham have amassed impressive careers, kicking a** and taking names for decades, with the 2000s being particularly kind to both actors.

2007's War should have been a success, but it did not manage to win over critics and underperformed at the box office. Almost two decades after its release, we will look back and see why the action flick fell so flat and whether it is worth revisiting with fresh eyes.

Quick Links Jason Statham Had Six Consecutive Flops Before The Expendables 2 How The Expendables 2 Restored His Winning Streak

When it comes to action films, stars like Keanu Reeves or Tom Cruise may come to mind first, but Jason Statham is arguably as well-known in the genre. Beginning with the Transporter trilogy, the actor has been renowned for his effortlessly cool-looking martial arts and has been in numerous other successful action franchises, including The Expendables, Crank, Fast & Furious, and The Mechanic.

Having said that, most people are unaware that, despite his unrivaled success in the Transporter films, Statham experienced a long, exhausting descent in his career during the early 2010s, when six of his movies flopped in succession. Nonetheless, he rose from the ashes to reestablish himself as the action king, eventually appearing in some of the most entertaining films, including Spy, Fast & Furious, and The Beekeeper. So, what...

Jason Statham's $125M Action Movie Becomes Streaming Success
Image
In the 21st-century era of film, Jason Statham's name has become ubiquitous with the action genre. His first franchise film came only four years into his feature film career, when he played protagonist Frank Martin in the 2002 film The Transporter. This kickstarted the action sequels Transporter 2 in 2005 and Transporter 3 in 2008. He continued his franchise streak with Crank in 2006. Now, Statham is known for many other action franchises, including the Expendables movies.

As much as the actor's filmography displays his strength within the action genre, however, it also shows that not all action franchises are created equally. The Rotten Tomatoes scores for Statham's movies have trended downward in recent years. 2023 particularly displayed this, as Expend4bles, Meg 2: The Trench, and Fast X all wound up with rotten Tomatometers, and were considered some of the weaker entries in their respective franchises. Another Statham sequel that hit similar lows has...

10 Over-The-Top Action Movies From The 2000s That Are Tons Of Fun
Image
While gritty, realistic action has its place, there's nothing quite like an absurd action thriller that pushes beyond the boundaries of reason. The 2000s delivered plenty of silly action movies that married humor with excitement. Action has the ability to reduce anyone to awe and glee when it's done right. People can get swept away in the all-out fun of action movies in a way that doesn't necessarily happen for all other genres.

Some of the most entertaining action movies of the 2000s kept things light by poking fun at the absurd excesses of the genre. This trend produced a string of action comedies which remain both hilarious and thrilling all these years later. Even if movies weren't overtly gesturing toward the history of the genre, they were often parodying the tropes of action and pushing to see where the boundaries lie.

Jason Stathams Crank Almost Starred Nicolas Cage
Image
For more than two decades, the effortlessly cool and charming Jason Statham has dazzled moviegoers all across the world with his dominating on-screen presence and jaw-dropping physical prowess. Known for portraying tough-as-nails characters who kick butt and take names, the Hollywood leading man is one of the entertainment industry's most bankable stars and has appeared in a slew of silver screen hits like The Transporter, Spy, The Expendables, and Hobbs & Shaw.

Back in 2006, Statham was still making a name for himself and showing audiences his dazzling skill set when he headlined the action flick Crank, a pedal-to-the-metal thrill ride that follows hitman Chev Chelios as he is forced to run around Los Angeles and perform adrenaline-pumping stunts after being injected with a lethal poisoning. The movie would help further elevate Statham's status as an actor, though he almost didn't end up playing the memorable character; let's look at how different Crank could have been.

10 TV Shows Like The Boys That You Really Need To Watch
Image
The Prime Video satirical superhero series "The Boys" is a lot of things — it's disturbing, hilarious, and tackles comic book culture with a deeply jaded viewpoint. One would think that with such a unique combination of factors, there just couldn't be anything else on TV like it. Thankfully, you'd be very, very wrong. There has been a boom in subversive superhero and comic book fare in the past decade or so, and there are some truly great shows that can tide fans of "The Boys" over until the fifth and final season premieres in the next year or two.

Each of these shows has something in common with "The Boys," from comic book origins to truly twisted humor to extreme violence, and they're all fantastic in their own right. Fans of "The Boys" should find lots to love in each of these 10 brilliant, occasionally demented shows. And it should go without saying,...

‘Don’t Move’ Review: It’s Survival of the Stiffest in Netflix’s High Concept Thriller
Image
It’s important for movies to ask serious questions. Brian Netto and Adam Schindler’s new Netflix thriller “Don’t Move” asks a very, very big one: What if a scene that would only be a couple minutes long in any other movie was the whole damn movie?

“Don’t Move” makes a decent attempt to address themes of mortality and depression but more than anything it’s a formal filmmaking exercise. In a nutshell, the film stars Kelsey Asbille (“Yellowstone”) as Iris, a mother mourning the accidental death of her son. At the start of the film she nearly takes her own life on a hiking trail. She’s interrupted by Richard, played by Finn Wittrock (“Origin”), who snaps her out of it and helps her remember that “Broken doesn’t have to mean hopeless.”

Then, right when Iris has finally rediscovered her will to live, Richard tases her, ties her up,...

Is The Beekeper Organization in Jason Statham's Prime Video Actioner Real?
Image
The Beekeeper is an adrenaline-fueled action thriller starring Jason Statham, the man, myth, and legend behind some of the most iconic action film franchises, such as Transporter and Crank. Despite being at the top of his game for two decades, Statham shows no signs of slowing down, as seen in his most recent film, The Beekeeper.

The film was both a box-office hit and a critical success, grossing $152.7 million on a $40 million budget and earning an impressive 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Overall, fans got exactly what they hoped for in this Jason Statham film, which combined high-octane action with a relentless vengeance plot. However, what sets this movie apart is the mysterious past of Statham's character, Adam Clay, a former agent of a clandestine organization known as The Beekeepers. So, what exactly is The Beekeepers organization in the movie, and does it exist in real life?

Keanu Reeves Is The Reason John Wick Didn't Have A Much Worse Title That Would've Killed The Franchise Before It Was Born
Image
If it wasnt for Keanu Reeves constantly getting the name wrong, John Wick wouldve been released under a very different title and it probably wouldnt have become a franchise. When it was first released in 2014, John Wick initially didnt seem to be anything more than a run-of-the-mill low-budget revenge thriller. It looked like the kind of movie that had become a dime a dozen since Taken came out: a beloved movie star plays a seasoned professional killer who seeks vengeance for the death of a loved one and kills hundreds of people along the way.

But against all odds, John Wick became one of the biggest blockbuster franchises of the 21st century. It was promptly followed by three sequels, each one bigger, bolder, and more financially successful than the last, and it also has a TV show and a spin-off movie on the way. Wick himself has become one of...

Jason Statham's First Movie, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Reveals Being An Action Star Isn't What He's Best At
Image
Jason Statham is a great action movie star, but his deadpan debut performance in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels proves hes even better at delivering pitch-black comedy. Statham is one of the few movie stars left who can turn a movie into a blockbuster based on their involvement alone. Statham is the only reason The Beekeeper was a box office hit. Even when it comes to his own franchises, like Crank, The Meg, and The Expendables, its Stathams star power that draws in the crowds, not the I.P.

Statham is always awesome in his action movies. No one other than Statham could fight a megalodon in hand-to-hand combat with a straight face and really sell it. No one other than Statham could end one of his movies with a hallucinatory kaiju battle and not make it feel like jumping the shark. But Stathams first film role in Guy Ritchies crime caper Lock,...
