    Making movies

The idea behind this Spanish film, shown recently on cable, had a lot of possibilities, but alas, the finished product seems to be exactly what happens in the making of the movie that is central to the plot.

Federico, an ambitious man, has been involved in a play that hardly anyone has seen. His ambition is to bring it to the screen. For that, he gets mixed up with people that have no clue as to what he wants to present to his audience. Everyone has a different take in what the film should be like, and that results in a different picture of what its creator wanted to do.

Director David Serrano, who co-wrote the screenplay with his leading man, Alberto San Juan, doesn't bring anything to this inane comedy, good for a couple of laughs, and that's about it.

A misunterstood drama taken for a typical Spanish comedy

This is a tragicomedy that caricatures a time in which the whims of censorship and shabby eroticism were imposed on the Spanish film industry. The artistic difficulties of the newcomer director, the economic problems of an upstart producer, the bribery of the censors and the political but also cultural transition (from folk to eroticism) are portrayed in this bizarre artistic event. Although it is more notable for its theme than for its technical and artistic aspects, however, it has more than correct performances, a good cinematography and a narrative rhythm that works. I think it's a misunderstood movie because it has been taken for a typical Spanish comedy that, I think, does not intend to be. It should be vindicated for what it is: A choral drama, very rhythmic, disguised as a black comedy, with a more than satisfactory narrative tone.

Mediocre acting, silly story and nice cinematography in a badly directed film

Average and cheesy film dealing with a witty look at actors , actresses , producers , directors working in soft porn cinema in a country waking up after 40 years of repression . Set in Spain 1977 with surprisingly little violence and really not that much sex for a film about the soft-core porn biz in Spain that sprang up after Franco was gone . Concerning a little girl star named Silvia Conde , Marisol-alike , a Spanish icon prized by Francisco Franco and now grown-up (Nathalie Poza) returns to big screen . She is hired by a producer (Miguel Rellan) who attempts to nude Silvia and another financier (Gerardo Malla) who wishes to make love with her . Producer contracts writer Federico Sola (Alberto San Juan , married to Gloria : Malena Alterio) to shot his first film but the latter falls in love for Silvia Conde . The plot of the movie they are shooting concerns a violent strike of miners , while the strikers are pursued , detained and tortured by Guardia Civil . Meantime , producer José María Culebras gives a precious watch to Director General De Cine (Roberto Alamo) to avoid his film to be censored for nudism . But the main producer is imprisoned when a building is collapsed causing death a lot of people , then the production goes to bankrupt .

This lousy as well as embarrassing comedy contains crazy events , nudism , sexual scenes , amusement and absurd situations . Sitting in a strange middle ground between the completely absurd and the stylish set pieces , including some enjoyable musical numbers . It is a crazy Spanish comedy that offers no intellectual stimulus whatsoever , though it has some fun and hilarious moments . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with numerous naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes , adulteries , jealousy , and erotic scenes . It partially sets the tone of the times in the seventies when had been made lots of films about nudism or ¨Destape¨. The film attempts to give laughs but it doesn't work , resulting in a bad and failed film . My feelings are extremely mixed but I must admit there are some brief and no very enjoyable laughters ; however , it also packs uneven comedy , piggy humor , profanity and grossed themes . The picture bears remarkable resemblance to ¨Los Años Desnudos (Clasificada S)¨ by Dunia Ayoso and Felix Sabroso (2008) similarly concerning a trio of naked actresses : Candela Peña , Goya Toledo , Mar Flores shooting films during cinematic nudism time of the 70s . The picture provides a passel of cameo appearances such as Josele Román , Ramón Barea , Malena Alterio , Fernando Tejero , Diego Martin , Coque Malla , Secun De La Rosa , Javier Gutiérrez who achieved recently Goya Award and Roberto Álamo in multiple small roles as Alfredo Torres / Palmero / Lotero / Antioquio / Chistoso del bar / Policía .

It packs a luxurious cinematography by Kiko De La Rica , considered to be one of the best Spanish cameramen , he has photographed many successes such as Lucia Y Sexo , Mataharis , Dias Futbol , Marujas Asesinas , he's usual cameraman of Eloy De La Iglesia : The Oxford murders , Comunidad , Chispa De Vida , Brujas De Zurragamurdi . Furthermore , atmospheric and evocative musical score by Miguel Malla . The motion picture was lousily directed by David Serrano , as no big deal , the flick is not worth watching . David Serrano was born in 1975 in Madrid , location in which he often shoots his movies . He is a writer , known for Días De Fútbol (2003), El Otro Lado De La Cama (2002) , Una Hora Más En Canarias (2010) and is filming Tenemos Que Hablar with Hugo Silva and Michelle Jenner .
