Following a massive release schedule shift that saw the Walt Disney Company moving most of its tentpole slate months into the future, including all MCU movies save for “Deadpool 3” into 2025, they announced Thursday they’re at least debuting “The First Omen” on April 5, 2024.
“The First Omen” centers on a young American woman who is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the Church, where she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. The feature stars Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (“The Northman”) and Bill Nighy (“Living”).
Arkasha Stevenson will direct a screenplay she cowrote with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas (“Firestarter”) based on characters created by David Seltzer (“The Omen...

DC Comics’ God of War, Ares, has been rumored to be the villain of the Wonder Woman movie since before director Patty Jenkins even began shooting, and thanks to a recent magazine article and some photos of a few toys, it would now finally seem to be confirmed. Though we know Ares will appear, we haven’t really given much thought to the actor that would be stepping into the role, as most fans had assumed the character would be a fully CG creation. However, some new information has now revealed that a familiar face will indeed bring life to the powerful baddie.
According to sources close to the project, Ares will be played via a mixture of CGI and practical effects by none other than David Thewlis. Even if you’re not familiar with the name, you’ll almost certainly have seen the British actor in the Harry Potter...

"The Omen" franchise hasn't had the best run of luck. The 1976 horror classic spawned three sequels, including one that was made-for-tv, and none of them were well received, nor was the 2006 remake starring Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles. Most recently, the property has been brought to the small screen with the A&E series "Damian," but the big bucks are at the movies. So another attempt will be made to revive the horror brand, but we do have some optimism thanks to the choice of director. Read More: Sundance Review: Antonio Campos' 'Christine' Starring Rebecca Hall Antonio Campos, who has earned a strong rep thanks to his indie efforts "Afterschool," "Simon Killer," and his latest Sundance sensation "Christine," has been tapped to helm "The First Omen." If I could describe “Marvel’s Agent Carter” to someone who has never seen the show, this is what I would say: If you’re a fan of intrigue, mystery, murder, mayhem, secret societies, and fast talking foreign agents, then “Agent Carter” is for you. While it is directly connected to the comic book world of Marvel and a slew of Marvel films like “Captain America” and “The Avengers”, it’s also a fantastic serial mystery show that will satisfy the tastes of any armchair detective looking to test their powers of deduction. Season two begins with a robbery and a double cross -- Russian assassin Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan, “White Collar”) is holding up a bank to steal a silver lapel pin from the safety deposit box of a secret society. Her heist is interrupted when our heroine, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, “Captain America: The First Avenger”) busts...

John Singleton is poised to be the next filmmaker to make the leap to television, as FX has picked up the pilot for Snowfall, a show co-created by Singleton. The press release had this summary of the series.
Los Angeles 1981. A storm is coming and its name is cocaine. Snowfall is a one-hour drama set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it. The story follows three characters on a violent collision course: Franklin Saint, young street entrepreneur on a quest for power; Gustavo Zapata, a Mexican wrestler turned gangster in search of his American dream; and Logan Miller, a prominent family’s “black sheep” desperate to escape his father’s shadow.

20th Century Fox and Platinum Dunes are teaming again for a second reboot of 1976 horror classic "The Omen" which is in very early stages of development.
No filmmakers have been attached at this time. Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles starred in the John Moore-directed 2006 remake.
The news comes a month after it was revealed that Lifetime is developing a TV series adaptation of the original movie, with former "Walking Dead" showrunner Glen Mazzara writing the pilot script and executive producing.
That series essentially ignores the "Omen" sequels, opting to explore a now adult Damien Thorn who is haunted by his turbulent past and coming to grips with the fact that he is actually the Antichrist.

Last week we had the pleasure of chatting with film composer Henry Jackman, whose body of work stretches from Monsters vs. Aliens to apocalyptic comedy This is the End. More recently, the musician has completed work on upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and you can read what he had to say about that highly anticipated film here – but the focus of our chat was his work on Sony Pictures’ BAFTA winning / Oscar nominated Captain Phillips, for which the composer himself was BAFTA nominated.
Jackman goes into detail on why self-discipline was paramount for the project, in addition to scoring epic superhero themes and what happens to music which doesn’t make it into the film.If you haven’t already, you can click here for your chance to win a copy or click here to buy one!

The devil. He does have a way of showing up at the worst possible time and throwing a wrench into even the best laid plans. In celebration of the release of Devil's Due on January 17th, we bring you our Top 5 Antichrist Films.
For honorable mentions we've got to include Michael Langdon (spawn of Tate and Vivien) from "American Horror Story: Murder House," the original season. Of course Hellboy holds at least some claim to the throne as well.
Research gave us the unforgettable name of Randall Flagg, who appears across many of the works of Stephen King as another possible antichrist. But the most amusing has to be Alan Moore's depiction of Harry Potter (although never named outright, it's quite clear whom he's referring to) in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic as the true son of Satan (click here if you're unfamiliar with the reference).

The last time Julia Stiles appeared in a horror film (the remake of The Omen), things didn't exactly turn out so well. But she's looking for redemption in an upcoming supernatural thriller called Out of the Dark, which is inching ever closer into the light.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Exclusive Media has scooped up international sales rights for the film, which also stars Scott Speedman (The Strangers) and Stephen Rea (The Crying Game). The movie marks the feature debut of Spanish filmmaker Lluis Quilez.
Stiles plays Sarah Harriman, a woman who moves her family to Colombia to take over a family manufacturing plant. As you might have guessed, they soon discover that the house is haunted, and supernatural forces threaten her young daughter's life.

The term 'family movie' might not be the first thing that comes to mind to describe "World War Z," the upcoming Brad Pitt-driven zombiepocalypse flick that pits a group of government workers against a pandemic of the undead. But that's exactly how composer Marco Beltrami--who has worked on the score for "World War Z for more than two year--thinks of the film. (Early review round-up is here.) "It is a family movie--in certain respects," Beltrami told me by phone, after pulling over at one point so as not to lose signal. But Beltrami's horror DNA contributed to his having to pull back the "World War Z" score: it was too scary. The composer cut his teeth on the horror genre: among his early works is the score for "Scream," and he's stayed with the franchise and similarly scary pics like remakes of "The Omen" and "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

Box office comparisons between the current and the previous Die Hard movies [See previous post: "Is the latest Willis / Die Hard movie a domestic box-office hit or a flop?"] However, when compared to the previous four movies in the franchise, the latest entry is nothing but a box-office disappointment -- though, I should add, it's the first movie in the franchise not to open in late spring/summer. (Pictured above: Willis as the invincible hero John McClane in A Good Day to Die Hard.) Directed by John McTiernan (who's currently facing a potential one-year prison sentence for lying to the FBI during the Anthony Pellicano wiretapping investigation several years ago), the original Die Hard movie released in 1988 scored $7.5 million (approximately $14 million today) at 1,276 theaters on its first weekend in wide release, July 22-24. The movie eventually cumed with $83 million (approximately $162.5 million today) in the United States and Canada. Director Renny Harlin's Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990) grossed $21.74m (approx. $41m today) at 2,507 venues on its opening...

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? He's back, again! For more explosions! John McClane - the "007 of Plainfield, New Jersey". Returning for his fifth time, it's A Good Day to Die Hard, directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Max Payne), another action movie about McClane but this time he's in Russia when shit goes down. Bruce Willis returns to take on the bad guys and he's joined by actor Jai Courtney playing his son Jack. So how is this one? Better than the fourth, third, or second? Or more action trash? Once you've seen it, post a comment with your thoughts about A Good Day to Die Hard. To fuel the explosions, as much as I enjoyed some of the action in this, overall there wasn't much there. The best part about A Good Day to Die Hard is that it's very lightweight entertainment,...

Terrible. A Good Day to Die Hard is terrible and if you're not clued in to that fact about ten minutes in, by the time you hit the 30 minute mark you'll be well aware. Much has already been made about how the franchise has returned to an R-rating after the PG-13 Live Free or Die Hard and how this is the shortest of all the Die Hard films by about 30 minutes. Trust me, you're going to wish it was even shorter. Without any context whatsoever, A Good Day to Die Hard introduces us to a whole crop of people we don't know or care about. Some Russian guy is going to go to court to reveal information concerning some other Russian guy. Next, a guy we will later learn is Jack (Jai Courtney), the son of Bruce Willis's iconic New York City police officer John McClane, is thrown into jail following an assassination attempt.

What surprises me most about the latest trailer for "A Good Day To Die Hard" is that it actually looks like director John Moore has finally grown a sense of visual style. Moore has been an in-house favorite for Fox for a while, but I don't get it. "Behind Enemy Lines," "Flight of the Phoenix," "The Omen," and especially "Max Payne" are all borderline unwatchable, and he seems positively ham-handed when it comes to performance and text. It's not enough to occasionally nail a pretty picture, and I'd argue that even in that department, he's seemed deficient so far. This new...

"Entertainment Weekly" has posted two bloody photos from Kimberly Peirce's "Carrie." The film is inspired by Brian De Palma's 1976 movie, and is more faithful to the chilling Stephen King novel. Chloë Grace Moretz plays bullied high school student Carrie, who uses her telekinetic powers to retaliate against her nasty classmates. Julianne Moore is her mother, Margaret White — a religious woman whose sense of humanity and affection for her daughter turns vicious and violent. Moretz spoke to the magazine about the famous scene at the prom where a bucket of pig's blood is dumped on her head. "We only have, like, four chances to get it right, because that stuff stains your hair." Carrie unleashes mayhem in theaters on March 15.

While there's a lot we don't know about A Good Day To Die Hard, the fifth entry in the popular action franchise, we do know that a lot the film takes place in Russia and John McClane (Bruce Willis) and his son Jack (Jai Courtney) try to avert an international crisis in Moscow. Now, we know a little more about the sequel as director John Moore (The Omen, Max Payne) recently shed some light on the production. Here's what he had to say when asked if the latest installment would have any famous John McClane humor: "No, because that's preposterous! I don't know whether it's post financial crash or whatever, but I don't think people are in the mood for that bollocks anymore. People are well savvy to the cynical reheating of any product, any franchise. Any shit won't do. The bar's a bit higher. There are a couple of...

John Moore is director of the upcoming fifth Die Hard movie, A Good Day To Die Hard, and in advance of its release date early next year, he spoke with Empire about how the film is going in our latest, Hobbit-filled issue. The plot of the fivequel - if you're comfortable using the term - sees Bruce Willis' John McClane facing off against angry Russian foes after his son, Jack (newcomer Jai Courtney), gets himself into some "serious international trouble" in Moscow. Many fans of the franchise will be concerned about the idea of another sequel, but Moore - who's previously directed Max Payne and the 2006 remake of The Omen - is aware of the anxious question mark hanging over the film. What's more, he's also keen to downplay idea that the fifth Die Hard could be a light-hearted romp - this is a Die Hard movie, pure and simple.

To celebrate, the Complex offers the first-ever retrospective of Schreiber’s career.
I first remember being aware of Liev Schreiber when he played the role of Orson Welles in 1999′s consistently all right HBO film, Rko 281. I wasn’t fond of his portrayal of Welles, mainly because I had seen another actor (whose name I cannot recall) who at least looked much more like the Orson of the Citizen Kane era. You know, the Orson that didn’t depress people. In watching Rko 281, I didn’t feel like Schreiber captured the wild-eyed genius of the young auteur, but later the same year, I saw Schreiber playing one of the Canadian do-gooders in The Hurricane and couldn’t stop picturing him as Welles.
The point being, even in the earlier part of his career as a featured player, Liev Schreiber confounded and annoyed me.

Victoria’s Secret model and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues Anne Vyalitsyna is headed for Die Hard 4 to join Bruce Willis in A Good Day to Die Hard. This will be the Russian model’s first major acting role, where she should fit right in because Russia is exactly where John McClane has to go to aid his imprisoned son, portrayed by Jai Courtney. There are no more details regarding Vyalitsyna’s role in the Variety report, but I’m assuming she will be playing someone really easy on the eyes. You may have caught her on some music videos, including ”Out Is Through” by Alanis Morissette, and two by Maroon 5, ”Misery” and “Never Gonna Leave This Bed”.

So here is a slight change of pace – I'll be branching out into other areas apart from Doctor Who, including film franchises, TV shows and comedies. How's about kicking off with a scary movie series then? Newbies be warned – there are so many spoilers in this article, that Doctor Who's River Song would explode with smug rage.
By the middle of the 1990s, the horror film had seemingly died for good. Just like Dracula slowly rotting away to a skeleton, the horror genre had slowly ebbed away for the past decade or so. Hammer Horror classics from the 1960s and 1970s had given way to popular horror franchises in the 1980s such as Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street, but even by the mid-1990s, these had seemingly vanished into the ether. However, acclaimed director Wes Craven along with Kevin Williamson were to breathe new life into the rotting genre.

We've seen Liev Schreiber tackle a large variety of roles: He's been a hiss-worthy villains (Wolverine, Repo Men), a crime scene investigator (“CSI”) and a concerned parent with the world's worst kid (The Omen). But we've never quite seen him like we do in Goon, where Schreiber plays a rough-and-tumble hockey legend named Ross Rhea. Rhea is the meanest man in the sport, a “goon” whose job it is to beat up other team's players... Although he's not...

Rick Santorum puts kids to sleep Mia Farrow is a frequent Twitter tweeter. Earlier today, for instance, Farrow expressed her disgust at the Chinese and Russian governments' decision to veto United Nations sanctions against Syria, where the Bashar al-Assad regime reportedly massacred hundreds of people in the city of Homs. On the homefront, Farrow posted a picture she called "a gem" (via the website Think Progress). Regarding the picture (see above), Farrow's tweet reads: "See children's choir literally passing out from boredom during [Republican presidential candidate Rick] Santorum [Florida] speech." Despite a movie career that includes almost fifty films during the course of nearly five decades, Mia Farrow not only has never won an Oscar, she has never been even nominated for one. that's quite surprising, considering her movie credits. Among those are Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby (1968), with John Cassavetes; Peter Yates' John and Mary (1969), with Dustin Hoffman; Jack Clayton's The Great Gatsby...
