To cute for my taste, but not bad
Carpe_Diem1229 September 2006
First off I rarely watch anime that has to do with big eyed, happy go lucky cute girls but for this one I made an exception. Yucie is a 17 year old girl stuck in the body of her 10 year old self. She is granted the chance to eventually get a wish from the Eternal Tiara that is if she can beat out her competition in the process. Her only wish is to grow into the body she was intended to have. Through this time she goes through many trials and tribulations in which she swallows way more then she can chew and finds out maybe the Tiara is not as great as she had thought.

Let me say that when I read about this I did not think that it was that much of an original idea for a show and I instantly thought it would be a complete waste of my time… As the show progressed I started to enjoy is more and more, yes it had it sweet points where I just could not bare to watch anymore but I stood in there… I have to say that out off all the cute animes I have ever seen (which is not much) this has got to be the only one that I actually enjoyed.

It will make you laugh it will make you cry it is a cutesy-pootsy anime series worth watching.

An excellent fantasy series

A while ago, I saw a dubbed episode of this show on Anime Network on Demand and instantly fell in love with it.

The story involves a 17-year-old girl cursed with a 10-year-old's body who learns of a special contest for girls. The prize is a tiara that can grant the Platinum Princess (the contest winner) any wish. Yucie desperately wants a grown up body. The problem is she isn't the only girl with the same problem and goal. Candidates from the worlds of demons (Glenda), spirits (Cocoloo), heaven (Elmina), fairies (Beth) and humans (Yucie) are all in competition. Yucie also falls in love with a prince who, of course, she doesn't like at first because he teases her about her forehead. The penultimate episode is very sad, but I won't spoil it here.

The opening song is really catchy and the animation is very colorful. Although it has mild violence and a few swear words (if you're watching the Japanese version - which I recommend), it's suitable for most kids. I liked that Kikuko Inoue (Belldandy in the Ah! My Goddess OAV and movie) voiced the queen. Chisa Yokoyama (Sasami/Pretty Sammy/Tsunami in Tenchi Muyo! and Magical Girl Pretty Sammy) has a small role in the final few episodes. The end credits song is on Yoko Ishida's CD "Sweets" (available in the U.S.).

I highly recommend this wonderful show!

Yucie Rocks!
raidynzgirl28 July 2005
This is the first anime series that I caught 1 episode of and fell in love with. I've had to purchase all of the DVDs for all 26 episodes. It's funny and entertaining for all ages, even my husband of 30 likes it! It's a story of a princess who is trapped in the body of a 10 year old and has to compete against other princesses from the Spirit, Heaven, Demon, and Fairy Worlds for the Eternal Tiara that grants any wish to the wearer. Yucie wants nothing other than becoming an adult and falling in love with the 'prince'. Glenda the Princess of the Demon World with her elegant beauty and fantastic magical powers is the best member of the princess team. Her trip to the Demon World is absolutely hilarious! If you like magical girls and humor you will love this series!

Not just 4 girls
Nixmon046 December 2005
I just started watching this show recently and it's not bad. It's about five girls who are all 17 years old but have remained in their 10 year old bodies and they are all princess's from different realms(The human world, the spirit world, heaven, the demon world, and the fairy world). They all have the goal to become the Platinum Princess, but only one of them can. The different conflicts that the girls have with each other are what makes the show funny (that and the fact that boys are always pointing out Yucie's large forehead). Also the girl's stuarts are guaranteed to make you laugh. Thing only thing I find strange is that two of the girls, Cocoloo(spirit) and Beth(fairy) blush around each other a little too much if you know what I mean. But we'll have to see how this show develops. And this is supposed to be a show for girls, and even though I'm a guy I thoroughly enjoy it.I give this a 7/10.

Outstanding series!

When I first seen the preview of this series on some of my ADV Films anime. I have to say,it was truly amazing. But when I heard about it from some people,I had to check it out for myself, and I did. When I bought the collection of this series on DVD at Best Buy,it was awesome. It was the best series since Princess Tutu. I had to say my favorite characters in this show are Elmina,Yucie,Queen Ercell, and Arc.The episodes in this show are truly the best that I ever seen, and I would say that this series would teach us a valuable lesson. What this show really explains, that having a goal is an important thing to accomplish in life. We all got to work hard, and do our best to achieve that goal. Also we all know never to judge people of their appearance. This series also reminds us that rivalry is another thing we have to face in life. We all know that it doesn't matter if we win,or we lose. All you have to do is show that you have true courage, and try to be nice to your rival. Those are the most important lessons we must learn. And I have that Yucie will learn to believe in herself, and do her best. So in closing,if you looking for something good to see,the this is the show to watch for people of all ages. And you will see what I mean
