Following the revelation that James Gunn & Peter Safran would be leading the Dceu in a completely new direction, a certain fan base persevered until the very end and held onto a glimmer of hope for a franchise that had already vanished. Yeah, we are referring to the DC fans who have taken to social media to unite behind the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. And it was all due to Warner Studios’ extreme mishandling of Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie, which led to its total destruction.

For the unversed, the term ‘SnyderVerse’ describes the interconnected film universe that Zack Snyder created, starting with Man of Steel and extending to Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In 2006, you could scarcely go a day without someone shouting, “This is Sparta!” in your face. The iconic line by Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas in Zack Snyder’s 300 became a battle cry for anyone looking to punt an irritant off a cliff. Out of sight. Out of mind. According to sources, a 300 TV series is developing at Warner Bros. TV. It’s early days for what Deadline says could be a prequel to the 2006 film, and fans are already theorizing about the plot, which is unknown. While deals are not in place, we hear Zack and Deborah Snyder could reunite with Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann, and Wesley Coller of Stone Quarry for the newly announced project.

Writer, director, and producer Zack Snyder has become forever entwined with comic book cinema, with many devoted fans knowing him best for his work with the DC universe, but once upon a time he directed a very different kind of comic book movie. Nearly 20 years ago, back in 2006, a little movie called "300" blew everyone's minds and kicked itself into the pop culture consciousness, teaching us all about the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and his 300 Spartans held off a massive Persian army under King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Sure, it wasn't super historically accurate because it was based on the graphic novel by "Sin City" artist and scribe Frank Miller (with colors by Lynn Varley), but it was impossibly cool. It inspired all kinds of tributes and spoofs and even a spin-off film, "300: Rise of an Empire," which showed the naval side of the battle,...

TV takes on familiar IP isn’t new these days, although the quality of those series runs the gamut. For every show like Prime Video‘s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Dead Ringers,” there are others, like Paramount+‘s “Sexy Beast,” that are utterly forgettable. In short, IP-turned-tv varies in quality, but that’s not stopping Warner Bros. from remaking one of Zack Snyder‘s biggest films into series form.

We've been hearing whispers about a potential small-screen 300 spin-off for years, and it seems a series may finally be moving forward - but it more than likely will not be based on Frank Miller's graphic novel or the movie adaptations that followed.
According to scooper Mttsh, a "300 TV series is officially in development."
We don't have any more to go on for now, but THR recently reported that Zack Snyder, who helmed the 2006 movie, had regained the rights to Blood and Ashes, which was originally pitched to Warner Bros. as a follow-up to 300 and its sequel, Rise of an Empire.
The story, which Snyder began writing while working on Army of the Dead, moves away from the Spartans to focus on the relationship between Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion.
“We got the rights back so we can make if we want it,” Snyder told the trade in a 2023 interview.

That's what critic Rita Kempley wrote for the Washington Post in a particularly scathing review of Roland Emmerich's 1998 movie, "Godzilla." It was the first attempt by Hollywood to bring the classic monster to life in America, and it was a spectacular failure. That's what Warner Bros., Legendary, and director Gareth Edwards were working against while crafting 2014's "Godzilla." Skepticism was built in. They had to prove that a film within this franchise made outside of Japan could work.
They did that and then some.

When Bridgerton first broke through, it felt subversive. As sex has disappeared from film, Bridgerton featured some of the most intimate and erotic sequences on television. Placing this eroticism in a period drama gave the series a unique link. It immediately felt closer to Weathering Heights or Dangerous Liaisons. Now, after two seasons and a spin-off, the novelty has partially worn off. However, Season 3 of Bridgerton does not falter due to complacency. Rather, Shondaland and the showrunners overload the season. While Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton finally take the spotlight, their story sags under the weight of carrying more than a half-dozen subplots.

After performing epically in quite a few romantic comedies until 2010 and winning the hearts of fangirls worldwide, Gerard Butler seems to have switched lanes permanently into the action genre. Well, he is acing it in that too, considering how the 54-year-old actor is once again reportedly all set to return to the big screens with Empire State, his next major action-thriller project.

But while he is still performing as brilliantly as ever in this respective genre, viewers can’t help but notice a similar pattern in a lot of Butler’s movies of the action/thriller/adventure themes. That being said, after hearing reports of this very upcoming action movie of his, a lot of fans seem to know already what to expect to see from it!

Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi epic Rebel Moon is now streaming in full on Netflix, with last year’s Part One: A Child of Fire followed by this year’s Part Two: The Scargiver.
But the Rebel Moon saga is far from over, because Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cuts of both movies are coming to Netflix. And they’re said to each be around One Hour Longer.
Of particular note, the Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts will be rated “R,” promising the bloody violence that wasn’t found in the PG-13 versions of the two movies currently on Netflix.
For starters, Rebel Moon – Part One: Director’s Cut has been rated “R” for…
“Brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.”
We don’t yet have a release date for these Director’s Cuts. Stay tuned.

Stay tuned.

Zack Snyder may be very well-known for directing huge blockbusters like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or the Rebel Moon franchise, but all these big-budget hits leave quite a lot to be desired when it comes to their critical reviews.
Ever since he directed an action horror Dawn of the Dead back in 2004, Snyder has never got to do better with critics and, what’s even worse, his films since then seem to have adopted some kind of weird trend as the rating gets lower with every new release.
Though the problem may not lie in Snyder’s directorial style, a bizarre coincidence regarding his filmography raises a thought whether he’s just a bad writer and that’s it.
Zack Snyder Should Just Stick to Directing

Exclusive: Netflix’s new feature Boss Dan Lin has tapped former DreamWorks Animation and Coyote Vs. Acme producer Chris deFaria to consult for the streamer’s animation department, we hear on very good authority.
Lin and deFaria worked together on the mega success of The Lego Movie when the duo were at Warners. Essentially, what is being sorted at Netflix is how to eventize their animation movies more. The streamer, together with Annapurna, saved the Blue Sky axed Disney LGBTQ+ movie Nimona, a casualty of the Disney-Fox merger; the pic wound up getting an Oscar nomination for Animated Feature.
Animation reports into Lin. Karen Toliver serves as VP of Animated Film.
At Warners deFaria worked as the president of Animation and Innovative Technology. He held that position for four years between 2013 and 2017, which included co-oversight of the studio’s Warner Animation Group. While at Warners, deFaria’s credits included Man of Steel,...

One of the most popular directors in the world, Zack Snyder is known for titles like “300”, “Watchmen”, and “Justice League”. His films revel in slow-motion action sequences, grand operatic themes, and a dark, brooding aesthetic.
Rebel Moon [Credit: Netflix]In 2023, Snyder brought his vision to the world of science fiction with “Rebel Moon” and then its sequel “The Scargiver.” While Rebel Moon promised a sprawling space adventure, critical reception was mixed at best. Given the underwhelming reviews of the duology, rumors had been running of the series shutting down. However, an industry insider recently debunked this particular rumor.

When asking viewers to list the qualities that best characterize a Zack Snyder film, ‘slow motion’ is probably going to be mentioned nine times out of ten. Rebel Moon, his 2023 American epic space opera flick, is probably well-known to those who enjoy visually stunning stories and epic action sequences. In addition, if you have watched the movie, you might have noticed the unusual use of ‘slow motion’.
Naturally, the renowned filmmaker is well aware of that, and during an interview with Wired, he discussed why and how he approaches those kinds of scenes and the kinds of rules he sets for himself and his team while filming.

Additionally, when asked why Rebel Moon uses slow motion so much, the 300 director gave an “obvious” yet insightful response, stating that the slow motion is “awesome”.

Few modern blockbuster filmmakers draw as sharply divided reactions from critics and general audiences as Zack Snyder. For every review that praises Snyder’s remarkable ability to create grand, fantastical visual imagery on film, there will be another review criticizing the filmmaker’s overreliance on slow motion and weak plot points. Let us take a look at Snyder’s filmography, and the critical reaction to his works as determined by Rotten Tomatoes.
Dawn of the Dead (2004), Tomatometer: 76% Zombies attack in Dawn of the Dead
Zack Snyder‘s maiden effort as a director remains his most critically successful venture. In 2004, Zack Snyder presented the world with his dramatic reimagining of George Romero’s classic horror tale of a zombie invasion. The slick, visually compelling action scenes coupled with a strong screenplay by James Gunn help elevate the film above your run-of-the-mill horror remakes.
Dawn of the Dead is now available for streaming on Starz.

The world that Zack Snyder comes from is stuffed with lore-driven drama, mature sensibilities, and dark imagination. His work reflects those traits in abundance despite there being enough opportunities to go so completely campy in his artistic style that it would threaten even David Cronenberg’s reputation in the field. But Snyder doesn’t take the bait. He would rather be the master of dramatic storytelling that presents itself as an epic Greek tragedy than serve up a generic film that gets lost among the stampede of a thousand other films coming off of Hollywood’s factory lineup.

Young comic book fans might not realize the significance of the bloody battles and high drama shown in Frank Miller’s graphic novel, but watching Zack Snyder’s timeless epic 300 will never disappoint. But tracing back to Snyder’s 2006 landmark drama that broke new ground at the time of its release, the director revealed how he was initially rejected.

1. Always hire Anthony Hopkins to deliver exposition. The man is an Oscar-winner, he’s played everybody from Hamlet to Hannibal Lecter, he’s got the best butter-melting British purr in the business. Despite Zack Snyder’s significant success in Hollywood as a director, some critics argue that writing may not be his strongest skill. This criticism arose after Snyder attempted to create a Star Wars-inspired world called Rebel Moon, with the first part released the previous year and the second part debuted on the 19th of April. The reviews are officially in, and the consensus is clear, it’s just not clicking with the masses.

For years, Zack Snyder considered making a sequel to his breakthrough film, a remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. But following his packed schedule in the late-2000s and his commitment to the Dceu in the 2010s, a bigger and better sequel never came through.
However, following his departure from the DC universe, in 2021, Snyder was able to revisit the realm of zombies with Army of the Dead, a spiritual successor to the 2004 remake, thanks to Netflix. But unlike his first zombie release, Snyder assured fans that a sequel to the 2021 movie is on the cards, but it might take a while.

While Zack Snyder’s films have the director’s visual and narrative stamp all over them, this is also the reason for him being a pretty polarizing figure among viewers. While his work in the DC franchise as well as in films like 300 and Watchmen have earned him a massive fan base, there are also a significant number of viewers who have been severely critical of his cinematic choices.

It's not a controversial statement to say that Zack Snyder can be a polarizing filmmaker. His fans will defend him until they're blue in the face, while his detractors will liken him to cinematic cancer. Me? I'm more of a Snyder agnostic. I like some of his movies, I dislike others. But there's one positive thing I can say for sure: the man knows how to craft an image. Like many filmmakers of his generation, Snyder got his start in music videos, and that taught him how to create memorable, evocative imagery that looks, for lack of a better word, cool.
"Cool" seems to be Snyder's approach to his visuals in general — and you know what? He frequently succeeds. Even if you don't like the Snyder film you're watching, there's a good chance it'll still be loaded with cool images. Because of Snyder's penchant for visual fireworks, his movies often lend themselves to great trailers.

Tom Cruise is easily one of the biggest Hollywood stars of all time. Even though he has been in the industry for over four decades, he is still sought after by the best directors to star in their projects. The actor himself exerts his influence too, often to bring out the best in him, and his decisions have always paid off.
However, he does not always get his way, as Zack Snyder recently revealed. The director confessed that he wanted the Mission: Impossible actor to play a certain character in one of his films, but Cruise sought a different role.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a movie directed by Zack Snyder starring Sofia Boutella. With Michiel Huisman, and Ed Skrein.
“Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” takes us to the end of this tale of humble farmers and oppressive lords who demanded more than the townsfolk could provide, sparking a revolution.
This sequel presents us with a film divided into two clearly defined parts: the preparation for the battle and the battle itself. Both parts are captivating, filled with the exaggerated epic spirit of Zack Snyder – a style he’s unwaveringly maintained.
This film certainly won’t disappoint its fans, particularly those dedicated to Snyder’s ostentatious, unique, and dramatic style which is showcased in this intergalactic battle – yet another chapter in Snyder’s ongoing style guide.

“Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” has been dead since last December, when the irredeemable first chapter of Zack Snyder’s hyper-derivative space opera was released “in theaters” and on Netflix to deafening silence. As I concluded my review at the time: “It’s hard to be even morbidly curious, let alone excited, about any future iterations or installments of a franchise so determined to remix a million things you’ve seen before into one thing you’ll wish you’d never seen at all.”
And so, much as I might have hoped that the second and more concentrated half of Snyder’s sci-fi “Seven Samurai” would somehow atone for the sins of its previous chapter, I wasn’t exactly shocked to discover that it lacks any trace of a pulse from the moment it starts. Five months in the morgue can have that effect. Be that as it may,...

The second part of Zack Snyder’s epic space opera Rebel Moon is all set to release on Netflix on April 19. A follow-up to last year’s Part 1: A Child of Fire, the second part titled Part 1: The Scargiver continues the journey of Kora and her fight against the Motherworld. The two-part epic came on the heels of Snyder’s last film with Netflix, Army of the Dead.
Zack Snyder has always tackled big-scale productions in his filmography. Beginning his career as a director with a remake of Dawn of the Dead, the filmmaker has made numerous blockbusters such as 300, Man of Steel, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and Watchmen. While Snyder has a penchant for large-scale epics, he mentioned to FandomWire what kind of film he wanted to explore with his next project.

Since their debut in the 1980s, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have grown into a permanent fixture in popular culture. From their catchy theme song to the four anthropomorphic turtle brothers, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, the franchise has touched the hearts of fans of all ages.
And now, with the news of a reboot on the horizon, Paramount has confirmed to be developing a live-action, R-rated film based on the gripping comic book miniseries Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. So, who is in charge of guiding this vision?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
To put it mildly, Zack Snyder seems like the perfect person to bring these Ninja heroes back to the big screen. His work on movies like 300 and Man of Steel mirrors his ability to create epic and thrilling battles, which would make him a great match for the turtles’ ninja skills and unique fighting styles.

The Color Purple director Blitz Bazawule’s next film will be Black Samurai, which Warner Bros. is backing. More on the film below.
CinemaCon is in full swing and our news desk has been busy penning story after story on the new exciting trailers and upcoming reboots and sequels. The latest exciting bit of news, albeit not directly from CinemaCon, involves Blitz Bazawule, the director behind The Color Purple.
As reported by Variety, Bazawule is working on a film about Yasuke, an African warrior who went on to become the very first Black Samurai.
The film is tentatively titled simply Black Samurai. Bazawule has already written the script and will be directing as well as producing. Warner Bros. beat out other studios and streamers in a bidding war. Warner Bros. also released Bazawule’s The Color Purple so there’s already an existing, and presumably good, relationship between the Ghanaian filmmaker and the studio.

Warner Bros is getting back in business with The Color Purple director Blitz Bazawule, with the studio landing rights to the tentatively titled Black Samurai with Bazawule directing. He wrote the pic on spec and will also produce under his Inward Gaze banner.
The story will follow Yasuke, an African warrior who served under Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga during the Sengoku period of samurai conflict in 16th century Japan. Sources tell Deadline four studios were in the mix for the project, but ultimately Warners came in with best offer on top of the relationship that began following his work on the recent musical adaptation of The Color Purple.
While a number of Yasuke projects have existed in the past, insiders say the original approach from the the filmmaker is being compared to groundbreaking films like 300 and Mad Max (the exact approach still under wraps).
