Is James Spader a Democrat? His Greatest Ever Role He Called ‘A Destructive Force’ Says It All
Image
Actor James Spader has played some of the most iconic roles on television in the past two decades. He had a lengthy run on The Blacklist, which only concluded in 2023 after ten seasons. In the meantime, Spader continues to be as reclusive and private in his personal life as he has for most of his career in Hollywood.

As a result, Spader’s political inclinations are unclear since the actor hasn’t openly talked about them. However, one of Spader’s most famous roles, which turned him into a household name, might have leaned towards the Democratic policies. As a result, the character remains one of Spader’s most fascinating roles, and here is what he had to say about it.

William Shatner’s Greatest Role Where He Is Not Playing Captain Kirk Won Him 4 Emmy Nominations
Image
William Shatner kickstarted the Star Trek franchise as its first captain, James T. Kirk, in the original series. The swashbuckling and charismatic Captain Kirk became a pop cultural icon, and apart from its writing, it was Shatner’s performance that made the character legendary. Shatner has been an irreplaceable part of the franchise and laid its foundations.

However, the veteran star has been synonymous with other roles as well. In the movies, he has featured in Miss Congeniality, Judgement at Nuremberg, Loaded Weapon 1, and more. On TV, he has played the titular detective in T.J. Hooker and the lawyer Denny Crane in Boston Legal. The latter won him an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.

Sadly, Viral Video of Robin Williams Cheering up a Gorilla Who Hadn’t Smiled Since 6 Months Is Fake
Image
A video of Robin Williams interacting with Koko the gorilla had been making the rounds online, tugging at heartstrings everywhere. In the clip, Koko, reportedly grieving the loss of a companion, seems to light up as Williams plays and jokes with her. It was the kind of moment that felt too pure for this world. But as with most viral content, there’s more to the story.

While the emotional reaction is very real, the narrative around it has taken a few internet-sized liberties. Turns out, some key details might not be exactly as they’ve been shared across timelines.

Nearly 40 Years Have Passed Since James Spader’s Only Cult-Hit Movie With Young Sheldon’s Annie Potts
Image
James Spader’s career has been defined by his television career with hits like Boston Legal and The Blacklist under his belt. As a result, his film career has mostly been forgotten, except for perhaps his only cult-hit movie from the 1980s, which also features Young Sheldon actress Annie Potts.

Despite having aged slightly poorly, the film in question also launched several other actors to superstardom. As a result, it sits as a bit of an anomaly in his career, especially since Spader himself does not speak about the movie during his already limited public appearances. Here is everything you need to know about Spader’s cult classic movie that is almost 40 years old.

How the overwhelming reaction to ‘9-1-1’ death demonstrates disconnect between viewers and Emmy voters
Image
Warning: this article contains spoilers from the April 17 finale of 9-1-1. Read at your own risk!

Twenty years ago, Peter Krause's death as funeral director Nate Fisher on Six Feet Under shocked viewers and earned him his third Best Drama Actor Emmy nomination for the role. Cut to today, and Krause is once again causing audiences to have an emotional reaction to one of his character's demises — Los Angeles Fire Dept. Capt. Bobby Nash on 9-1-1. But the actor likely won't receive an Emmy bid this time around.

It boils down to the tug-of-war between prestige TV and popular TV. For the most part, shows that receive Emmy Awards tend to be highbrow, sophisticated, cultured ... yet little-watched. Two programs that recently took over the Emmys — Shōgun (a Japanese historical epic drama) and Succession (about a rich family squabbling over control of their company) — struggled when it came to viewership.

James Spader on The Blacklist: Broadcast Network Shows Are a “Curse” but “I Have a Very Real Need to Work” Because I Need the Money
Image
Thanks to his stint on Boston Legal, James Spader became a household name in the early 2000s. Despite a promising film career, the actor turned his attention to the small screen in the following decade, resulting in a critically acclaimed ten-season run on the hit crime-drama series The Blacklist.

During an interview, Spader discussed taking up the now-iconic role of Raymond “Red” Reddington, especially in an era when cable television offered more freedom compared to the rigorous schedule of network television. Here’s what Spader had to say about joining a network show and why its demanding schedule wasn’t an issue for him.

Spotlighting director Matt Shakman ahead of The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Image
Director Matt Shakman has been directing TV shows in a variety of genres since 2002. Among his many projects have been instantly recognizable shows such as Boston Legal, Six Feet Under, Ugly Betty, House, Mad Men, and American Gothic. Now he's taking on directing duties for his first big-budget Hollywood film with Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

But First Steps is not Shakman's first Marvel Studios project as he also directed the wildly successful and critically acclaimed Disney Plus series WandaVision, which took the world by storm in 2021. Shakman certainly knows his way around a superhero or fantasy script. In addition to his WandaVision directing credits, he also directed two episodes of season 7 of Game of Thrones in 2017 ("The Spoils of War" and "Eastwatch"). "The Spoils of War" in particular boasted an incredible nail-biting scene in which Jamie Lannister came dangerously close to killing Daenerys, while she was grounded...

Jamie Campbell Bower Joins The Rings of Power in a Major Role for Season 3

Bower, known for his work in Stranger Things and The Mortal Instruments, will take on a central role as a series regular. Filming is set to begin this spring at Shepperton Studios in the UK.

Bower’s involvement marks a shift from his previous appearances in fantasy franchises. Jamie Campbell Bower, Eddie Marsan Join 'The Rings of Power'

Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan are about to get in the ring...of power, that is. The acclaimed British actors are no strangers to fantasy and genre fare, given the former's time on Stranger Things and the latter's time appearing in, well, seemingly everything else, but neither have played in the acclaimed and beloved universe of author J. R. R. Tolkien — until now.

That's right, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has upped the star power ante in season three, tapping Bower and Marsan to join the cast for the series' next installment. The show is currently in pre-production in England, working out of a new home in Shepperton Studios. According to Prime Video, Bower will be a series regular, while Marsan will appear in a recurring capacity. What Happened To The Cast Of Six Feet Under?
Image
When it first aired in 2000, "Six Feet Under" was unknowingly part of the dawn of a golden age of television. Alongside early-aughts HBO hits like "The Wire" and "The Sopranos," the tragicomedy told the story of a family-run funeral home trying to make sense of life and death in the wake of the sudden loss of their father.

A revival has reportedly been in the works for some time, despite the fact that it would seemingly be in conflict with what is arguably the greatest series finale of a TV show ever. Still, the mere idea of a return to these loveable, complicated, and tragic characters makes us wonder what happened to the cast of "Six Feet Under?"

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek became a pop cultural phenomenon upon release back in the ‘60s. Despite only lasting three seasons, the story of space exploration in the future and diplomatic missions became extremely engaging to fans and the core cast like William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy became legends.

The original series had always been a story of three: Shatner’s Kirk, Nimoy’s Spock, and DeForest Kelley’s McCoy. The latter reportedly faced the brunt of the stardom as he only got typecast in McCoy-esque roles after his tenure in Star Trek. The actor mentioned that he was taken by surprise as he felt he had the most human character in the series.

Despite his wide-ranging and diverse filmography, Spader has made very few big-screen appearances. Here is what Spader had to say about his choice of roles and the philosophy behind it.

William Shatner talks about his mortality, the joys of life, and cherishing each day
Image
It's hard to believe, but the original Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek: The Original Series, William Shatner, will turn 94 next month. With genetics clearly in his favor, Shatner could easily pass for a man in his sixties, and he keeps the schedule of someone who clearly isn't interested in slowing down. But that doesn't mean the actor doesn't think about his mortality. In 2023, he told Variety [via Today] that he didn't have long to live. Certainly that's not something the fans want to even think about, but Shatner's matter-of-fact way of talking about death is just a part of who he is.

And he's all about finding joy in the life that he has, telling Dr. Mehmet Oz that "there's joy everywhere," and that we should be looking for it, offering up three possibilities of "whether it’s a hot bath or a good friend or a piece of cheese.

Where Is the Cast of ‘Happy Gilmore’ in 2025
Image
It’s unbelievable to learn that it has been almost 30 years since Happy Gilmore graced fans with its comedic presence in theaters and at home. The 1996 sports comedy was one of Adam Sandler’s first, before he had formed Happy Madison Productions, which went on to become a juggernaut in the movie business. The cast is made up of mostly familiar faces, many of whom went on to star in huge projects, including Sandler himself.

With a sequel film coming out this year, and many of the original cast members reprising their roles, fans are excited at the prospect of seeing the title character and his hockey-inspired golf style once again. But it also makes fans curious what the cast members have been up to in the last almost three decades, notably the ones who aren’t the most known figures.

While she imagined a cinematic meet-cute, fate seemed to have other plans and the first time they met in real life turned out to be like a Modern Family episode.

The Largely Forgotten Comedy Sequel Where William Shatner Parodied Star Trek
Image
William Shatner kicked off his career as a promising young actor in the company of the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. But when, despite strong notices for his performances, he failed to springboard to stardom like his Canadian colleague Christopher Plummer, Shatner lowered his sights and embraced the philosophy of a working actor. This isn't a knock. He shined in his "The Twilight Zone" episodes, and was superb as a racist interloper who stokes violence against the Black residents of a small town in Roger Corman's "The Intruder." However, he also took so many guest roles in television that he ran the risk of driving down his value by dint of his ubiquity.

Three seasons and several great episodes of "Star Trek" fixed that for Shatner, but throughout the 1970s he become closely associated with a kind of laughably serious, easily parodied manneredness. The ne plus ultra of...

William Shatner's famous cameo in one comedy film should be talked about more
Image
William Shatner is most known for his dramatic acting. It's long been his calling card but despite his turns on the Twilight Zone, T.J. Hooker, and Star Trek, Shatner has proven himself to be quite good at comedy. Most newer fans will likely remember him on the hit show, Boston Legal, where he was charming and funny, yet that wasn't really his first dance with comedy.

Nor was it his best. For those who may not know this, William Shatner had a minor appearance in the second Airplane film. Entitled Airplane II: The Sequel, the film features a similar concept to the first one, but instead of it just being a plane, it's a spaceship. Something Shatner is profoundly familiar with.

The film, as a whole, doesn't live up to the profound impact of the first, nor the quality. Yet, Shatner's surprise cameo near the end of the film makes it worth watching.

Melora Hardin’s Jan Was So Iconic in ‘The Office’ That We Forget She Played a Sinister Villain in NCIS

When it comes to sitcoms, viewers often remember the characters that shine brighter, thanks to their eccentricities, physical comedy, quips, or maybe even their negative traits that make them one of the most hated among all. One such character from The Office is Jan Levinson, played by Melora Hardin.

From her on-again-off-again relationship with Michael Scott to her unceremoniously scented candles, Jan quickly went from a sensible woman to a detached character who everyone despised. The scene where she told Michael not to date Holly did not help either.

Law & Order: Svu's ADAs Ranked
Image
Law & Order's popularity spawned several spin-offs, including Special Victims Unit, which became the longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series. While Svu detectives, like Detectives Benson and Tutuola, are the heart of the series, many of the ADAs have also become staples in Svu.

These ADAs have provided the squad with the necessary search warrants and legal advice before an arrest. The Assistant District Attorneys are vital to the process, as criminals could walk free without the legal knowledge and advice the Svu ADAs provide the detectives. Once the criminal is in custody, ADAs have the difficult job of securing a sentence for the criminal. While this is no easy feat, every Ada in Svu proves they're up to the task.
