- TriviaVideo game-to-movie enthusiast Uwe Boll had already acquired the film rights to Far Cry the video game from Crytek before the game was even released (and subsequently became a smash hit, spawning several sequels), which explains how such an unsuccessful director had been given permission by Crytek to handle such a anticipated project. The film was budgeted at £30 million but took in less than $1 million at the box-office.
- GoofsWhile mercenaries chase down Valerie and Jack with boats, Parker's pistol is shown to be empty in close shot (slide is locked to back-position). In the next cut the weapon is reloaded again (slide is where it is supposed to), but in the next shot immediately after it the gun is empty again.

[from trailer]
Dr. Krieger: [From Trailer] You're just a simple boat man.
Jack Carver: I didn't say anything about being simple.
- Alternate versionsGerman theatrical version was precut by the distributor before submission to the FSK. The submitted version with reduced violence was rated "Not under 16". This was done because they anticipated the film would be rated "Not under 18". However, when the film was submitted to the FSK in its uncut form for home video, the film was rated "Not under 16", too, meaning the precut version was completely unnecessary (because the guidelines for home video are more severe than for theatrical releases).

Featured review
There is only one reason this movie is watchable. Till Schweiger. He is such a good actor the movie isn't completely terrible. Uwe Boll please take up another career. The special effects and action are acceptable. All other aspects were very disappointing. All I can say is that Kevin Smith (An evening with...) talked about Tim Burton not ever reading the Batman comics and it showed. Uwe Boll must not have ever played the video games that he keeps making movies about. If you two ever want to know how it is done go see Andrzej Bartkowiak. Doom was one of the best video games to film adaptations ever. Some people may disagree, but if you watch the movie you can see that the guys at ID had a lot to do with Doom. It doesn't seem like anyone at UBIsoft was even near this production.
