Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" is about as quintessentially American as a classic book can get. The 1960 novel, which is still commonly read in schools today, follows young Alabaman girl Scout Finch as she endures the trials and tribulations of her pre-teen years -- and witnesses the grim realities of the Jim Crow-era South. Some aspects of "To Kill A Mockingbird" haven't aged perfectly, but the book remains beloved for good reason. It's funny, sharp, and emotional, full of wisdom and harsh truth, and builds a world that's vividly alive.
That world made the leap from the page to the big screen in 1962, when director Robert Mulligan and playwright Horton Foote adapted "To Kill A Mockingbird" as a film. The movie version is indelible in its own right. It's anchored by a precise performance from Gregory Peck, who plays compassionate defense attorney Atticus Finch. In the 60 years since...

After serving 22 years in prison, Syed was released, still proclaiming his innocence. Now, he may return.
Another streamer original, “Magic Carpet Rides,” arrives June 14. It centers on a social influencer torn between sharing her budding romance or honoring her boyfriend’s request to keep their life private.

When it comes to some horror movies, there are instances where filmmakers prioritize shock value, cheap thrills, or visual effects over a well-developed plot. These movies often rely on exaggerated and illogical scenarios to create a sense of fear or suspense, sometimes sacrificing coherence and depth in the process. The film Boo can be an example of this type of horror movie, and it revolves around four friends, Kaira, Kavya, Aruna, and Rithika, who plan to have a memorable Halloween by throwing a party. They gather together, enjoying the festivities, and decide to enhance the spooky atmosphere by reading a mysterious Halloween book. As they delve into the book’s contents, strange occurrences begin to unfold around them. But the lines between reality and fiction become blurred, and Kaira, in particular, questions her own sanity, unsure if she is witnessing genuine supernatural occurrences or succumbing to her mind’s deception.

The award-winning script for Still has successfully completed its crowdfunding campaign on Seed & Spark with a final amount raised of $18,682.
Production for Still is scheduled to begin end of May 2023. The film stars Rakefet Abergel as Aliya, a woman struggling with the realities of a tragic pregnancy loss.
“I suffered a miscarriage about a year and a half ago and it was heartbreaking. Still is about how hard it is to survive losing a child – a child you held or one you never met. It’s about how well-meaning words can feel empty, meaningless, and hurtful to someone suffering a loss,” said Abergel, who also wrote, and will produce and direct the film. “If you’ve lost a baby, I hope this film brings you healing and inspires understanding in others.”

Every year, there are some truly exceptional songs featured in motion pictures.
Disney and Bond films are almost always guaranteed nominations from the Academy in the Best Original Song category, often winning (as "No Time To Die" did last year).
However, there are plenty of songs that have stood the test of time that you may not even know were Oscar-nominated -- or even that they were originally from a film!
Plenty of nominated songs have gone on to outlast tthe films they came from.
Here's a list to remind you how random, enduring, and inclusive the Best Original Song category has been over the decades.

First and foremost, the idea of spending Halloween in a haunted hospital isn’t a great idea in real life, but would definitely be a thrill that a lot of people would give a second thought to since, well, Halloween is a great time to tempt fate and ghosts. Boo isn’t bound to go down as one of the greatest movies ever or even as one of the best Halloween movies, but it’s fair to think that it might be included in a list of schlocky horror movies that would be gathered for a night of hilarity. “The Masked Singer” is changing things up for Season 8. The Fox competition series will have a new format, and only one contestant is going to make it through each episode.
As we know, each episode generally features performances from several of the masked celebrities. This season, only one will move on at the end of the episode (as opposed to only one being eliminated in years past).
In order to add a second elimination, an audience voting element is also being introduced. Halfway through the show, the studio audience will vote for their favorite performance so far, and the contestant with the least amount of votes will be sent home. But, they’ll get to stick around to watch the rest of the competition — and even the second unmasking!

“We talked a lot about the restaurant scene in ‘Goodfellas’ where Joe Pesci kicks off … The red shaded lamps and the dark, mysterious, kind of chiaroscuro feeling and atmosphere of that restaurant felt like the kind of thing we should be going for in this,” says “Fleabag” director Harry Bradbeer about his approach to the season two premiere, for which he earned an Emmy nomination for Best Comedy Directing. “There’s something gangster-ish about that restaurant,” he adds, also referencing “The Godfather” in evoking the kind of “place where a family can get together but where people stab each other in the back.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Bradbeer above.

Fleabag returned with its second and final season this month, and as much as it pains me to say it, the Amazon series is wrapped up beautifully. Writer and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge did an incredible job showing the growth, frailty, and depth of not just Fleabag herself but the other lead characters as well.
As far as the soundtrack goes, most of what we hear throughout season two is dramatic, sweeping choral music, which pairs nicely with the will-they-or-won't-they romance Fleabag has with The Priest (played expertly by Andrew Scott). The music was actually written and composed by Waller-Bridge's older sister, Isobel, but the show turned to something more contemporary for its tearjerking final scene.
After sharing a sweet moment with Dad at his wedding to Godmother and urging her sister Claire to profess her love for a coworker, Fleabag is waiting at the bus stop to go home. She's joined by The Priest,...

Bianca's into hosiery, Mark's into digital marketing, and tonight they're both going to launch their businesses in an attempt to prove they've got what it takes. But who'll walk away the victor? We're about to find out, so join us from 9pm when the show starts as we bring you all the action...
23:00But that's that! The Apprentice is over for another series. Seriously, though, when does the next one start? Thanks for joining us!
22:58As a parting gift, Dara gives Mark some cough mixture. Obviously.
22:58Tom, Ricky and Leah are in the audience talking up their businesses.

Hello movie lovers! Tis I, Marc Alan Fishman, resident ComicMix snark-do-well. I figured I might as well get at least a day out from the legendary John Ostrander on the topic that most presently has the comic book fanboys all a flutter. What’s that, you say? The recently announced Suicide Squad movie from DC Entertainment now has a cast? Well, what better to do then but react to each of the specific castings of the sinister sextet of seriously spiteful sinners.
Jared Leo as The Joker
I know what everyone is thinking. “Boo! Hiss!” they cry. Well, not me. Casting the clown prince of crime with yet-another slightly slick looking actor, with plenty of dramatic chops, seems apropos. Look kiddos. When they announced Heath Ledger, the outcry could be heard for miles around the Internet. All up until footage started leaking in dribs and drabs. And then when The Dark Knight debuted,...

When a freak tornado swamps Los Angeles, thousands of man-eating sharks are sucked into the swirling vortex, terrorizing the waterlogged populace and flooding the city with shark-infested seawater. Surfer and bar-owner Fin (Ziering) sets out with his friends Baz (Simmons) and Nova (Scerbo) to rescue his estranged wife April (Reid) and teenage daughter Claudia from the sharks raining down from the skies. With nature’s deadliest killer ruling sea, land, and air, they soon realise that the best chance they have to survive the deadly shark-infested maelstrom is to find a way to destroy it themselves.
What can I say about Sharknado that hasn’t already been said? A film that caused a social media furore on its Syfy channel debut, this...

Syfy captured the cultural zeitgeist in a massive way Thursday with Sharknado, its low-budget campfest about yes, a tornado of sharks. Generating millions of tweets from people including Mia Farrow, Damon Lindelof and more, the TV movie starring Tara Reid and Ian Ziering catapulted director Anthony C. Ferrante into the cultural conversation after a long career writing and directing fare including Haunted High, Leprechaun's Revenge and the simply titled Boo. The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the director early Friday to discuss the cultural phenomenon of Sharknado, sequels and whether he'd ever go swimming with sharks after this. Story:

Dee Wallace is something of an icon in the horror genre and the film industry. She’s been doing films for over 40 years and has amassed an incredible resume of film and Television appearances. Most people will probably know Dee from her role as Elliot’s mother in the Steven Spielberg blockbuster, E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial, but horror fans know her from her many roles in genre films including The Hills Have Eyes, The Stepford Wives, The Howling, Cujo, Popcorn, Alligator 2: The Mutation, Temptress, The Frighteners, Black Circle Boys, Boo, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, The House of the Devil, Exit Humanity, and the upcoming Rob Zombie flick, The Lords of Salem.
She sometimes is typecast as the Mom next door character, but she isn’t afraid to venture outside of those roles in order to play against type as women on...

The Asylum is at it again with their latest “Mockbuster”, Hansel & Gretel. Made for a fraction of the budget of that other Hollywood flick, this film follows a different path then the blockbuster version. Directed by Anthony C. Ferrante (Boo, Headless Horseman), his version follows more closely to the original Brothers Grimm dark fairy tale, only updated for today’s audience, while the other is a much looser adaptation of the story.
We have the two titular protagonists, Hansel Grimm (Brent Lydic) and Gretel Grimm (Stephanie Greco-The Haunting of Whaley House) as two young adults struggling with their small town lives. Hansel seems to be a slacker who plays video games all day with his...
