Apple TV+’s highly anticipated heist action-adventure movie, Fountain of Youth, stars a fresh new pairing of John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the story follows estranged siblings teaming up to embark on a journey to find the famous Fountain of Youth, a mythical spring.
Described as in the vein of Indiana Jones but contemporary, the Fountain of Youth’s plot and new pairing have got fans excited. The trailer for the movie was recently released, and while a few critics noted that it seems a bit difficult to find the tone of the movie, others have praised it and shared that it deserves the hype despite not being the first movie to follow a storyline of a search for immortality.
But here’s why I am excited for the movie, and you should be too.

Nicolas Cage admits that he does not regret passing on a widely successful buddy comedy movie, 31 years after it premiered. Cage has maintained a genre-spanning career, which includes unusual and transformative performances in Vampire's Kiss and Face/Off. After winning an Academy Award for Leaving Las Vegas, he appeared in numerous blockbuster movies, ranging in audience reception, including the National Treasure and Ghost Rider franchises. More recently, Cage portrayed Dracula in Renfield and shocked fans as a demonic serial killer in Longlegs.
Throughout his film catalog, Cage has also had many comedic roles, including Raising Arizona and the self-referential The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Demonstrating that he can be equally funny and romantic, as well as dramatic, Cage has starred opposite Cher in Moonstruck and Laura Dern in Wild at Heart. He also appeared in the superhero comedy Kick-Ass, while voicing a star-nosed mole in G-Force and a caveman...

Ferris Bueller and Cameron Frye are about to have another day off. Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck, on-screen high-school best pals in the classic teen comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off, are set to reunite on the big screen. The duo are in talks to star in The Best Is Yet to Come, a new comedy from Lionsgate. Deadline reports that the film is a remake of a French comedy of the same name.
Broderick and Ruck will star as a pair of lifelong best friends; after a tragicomic misunderstanding, one of them comes to believe that the other only has months to live. The two embark on a road trip (hopefully not in a borrowed 1961 Ferrari Gt) to find the "dying" man's long-estranged son, and to rediscover life along the way. The movie will be directed by Jon Turteltaub, from a script by Allan Loeb. Deals with the two stars are currently being finalized,...

Image Source: Walt Disney For years, fans of adventure cinema—and especially Nicolas Cage—have held out hope for one more chapter in the thrilling saga of National Treasure. The 2004 original and its 2007 sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, cemented their legacy in the genre, sparking a nearly two-decade-long question: would Benjamin Franklin Gates ever return for another code-cracking, globe-trotting mission? Now, a glimmer of hope pierces the wait. In a recent conversation with MovieWeb’s George Edelman while promoting his latest film, The Surfer, Cage dropped a tantalizing tease. When asked about the possibility of National Treasure 3, he offered a cryptic but hopeful reply: “Don’t know. I do know that there’s been more chatter about it than normal.” While it’s not the confirmation fans have been craving, that little bit of “chatter” is enough to set off a ripple of excitement. Could it finally be happening?...

Nicolas Cage is a renowned actor with numerous awards to his name, but his latest movie is struggling to gain traction. Having started his Hollywood career in 1981 in the show The Best of Times, he quickly pivoted to the big screen. Cage found roles in Raising Arizona (1987), Moonstruck (1987), and Face/Off (1997), all while earning prominence fairly quickly. In the 2000s, he would star in National Treasure (2004), Ghost Rider (2007), and Kick-Ass (2010), among countless other films. He even gained renown as a voice actor, starring in The Croods (2013) and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
Cage will be starring in Spider-Noir, a detective spin-off from the Sony Spider-Man universe.
If Nicolas Cage's impressive career is not astounding enough, he has also won several awards from major organizations. He earned Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his performance as Ben Sanderson in 1995's Leaving Las Vegas, alongside a nomination for his work in Adaptation (2002). He...

The "Hellraiser" movies, which originate from Clive Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" novella, have inflicted legendary suffering on their victims for almost 40 years. In that time, the franchise has traveled everywhere from New York City to medieval France to even outer space. Regardless of the location, however, one thing remains constant: The Hell Priest, aka Pinhead, and the Cenobites have such great sights to show anyone bold (or merely careless) enough to summon them using the Lament Configuration (a puzzle box with hellish powers).
In the original 1987 "Hellraiser" film, Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) sets in motion the chain of events that befall his family at the hands of the Cenobites. However, all we learn about Frank is that he acquired the puzzle box, got punished, escaped from Hell, and rekindled an affair with his brother's wife while she delivered blood sacrifices to restore him. The time between him finding the...

Nicolas Cage fans have been teased by the actor’s possible return to one of his beloved franchises for many years now, and it seems that they may have to wait a bit longer as the actor recently shared a disappointing, if slightly optimistic, view on the chancesof National Treasure 3 ever happening.
Cage is currently starring in The Surfer, another wild and unpredictable movie that has landed a strong set of reviews for the actor. While promoting the film, Cage spoke to MovieWeb’s George Edelman, and as well as discussing his current movie, he gave a short response to the chances for fans finally getting to see Benjamin Franklin Gates heading out in search of another “national treasure” in the near future. Cage said:

There’s something about treasure hunting movies that just hits differently. Maybe it’s the dusty maps, ancient traps, or the characters who clearly have no plan but still survive it all. These movies have it all, booby traps, secret caves, double-crossing sidekicks, and the occasional cursed artifact. Some go full Indiana Jones mode, while others mix in comedy, mystery, or even a little romance, because why not fall in love while dodging death?
The best ones make you feel like you’re right there, sneaking through jungles or deciphering clues on a centuries-old scroll. And let’s not forget the over-the-top villains who always monologue too long. Whether it’s gold, lost cities, or something weirdly glowing in a box, treasure movies serve drama, chaos, and adventure in one messy, glorious ride.
So, grab your (pretend) fedora and scroll through this list of the best treasure-hunting flicks to ever grace our screens.

Science fiction is one of the most popular genres out there, but it takes a lot of effort and thought to get right. Sci-fi is not just about aliens and spaceships; it is about what science can do to address the current problems of the world, and whether it will solve those issues or worsen them. There is a reason speculative fiction like that always stands apart.
While ‘80s films like Blade Runner and Terminator wondered about the future of humanity, Hollywood seemed to pivot to a more blockbuster-y treatment for these films. Some of them asked profound questions, but also had fun with it. There is a reason the following list of films is extremely popular and influential, as their inspirations can be seen even today.
Here are the ten most influential sci-fi films of the 1990s.

Kids’ content is a dominating force on digital platforms–and a big business, with giants like Moonbug, Pinkfong, and WildBrain making tens or hundreds of millions of dollars from IPs they built on YouTube.
Now a new company, helmed by a team of writers, directors, producers, and executives with experience at YouTube, Nickelodeon, Disney, Apple TV+, and Max, wants a slice of that pie.
The Kids’ Table, which describes itself as “a premium content company for creators and brands,” launched this week, promising it “will provide the expertise to deliver high-quality, evergreen stories and build franchises that reach kids wherever they are, on screens, platforms, and devices worldwide.”
It’ll do that by offering individual content creators and companies original IP development, help with adapting existing IPs into other mediums, content slate building, production resources, and licensing. It says digital distribution of these IPs on YouTube “will play a key role” in its overall strategy.

What do you expect to get from the fountain? The answer could only be youth – unless you’re starring in the new Guy Ritchie movie, in which case there’s something more at play. Apple has released the newest trailer for Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman who head out on an adventure as part of a family legacy.
The latest trailer for Fountain of Youth comes just a few weeks off of the first one, which, as is the case here, feels like some sort of expansion on the National Treasure franchise. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing and seeing what Guy Ritchie can do with some globe-trotting set pieces might be fun, there are some serious skeptics about the whole thing, particularly how it just doesn’t feel like a Guy Ritchie movie. But we’ll hold off complete judgment until...

"There's a power in there beyond any of our comprehension - I can feel it." Apple TV has revealed a second official trailer for Fountain of Youth, a big Indiana Jones-esque adventure comedy from filmmaker Guy Ritchie. It begins streaming on Apple TV+ in May during this summer movie season - not in any theaters unfortunately. Fountain of Youth follows two estranged siblings who reluctantly partner on a global heist to find the mythological, legendary Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives... and possibly lead to immortality. The movie stars John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, and Carmen Ejogo, with Stanley Tucci (as the "bad guy" trying to protect the fountain). While this is trying to be another National Treasure or Uncharted, it doesn't have the right vibe and still looks like a mess.

If you’ve been craving the feeling that Nicolas Cage’s “I’m gonna steal the Declaration of Independence” gave you back in “National Treasure,” John Krasinski might be able to give it back in the first trailer for “Fountain of Youth.”
The film centers on two estranged siblings, played by Krasinski and Natalie Portman, who team up — albeit a little begrudgingly in Portman’s case — to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. Per the official synopsis, “They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives … and possibly lead to immortality.”

The thing is, according to an ominous warning from Stanley Tucci’s character, “there’s a reason the fountain was hidden,” and Krasinski being able to find it will almost certainly cause problems.

Considering Jason Statham's standing as one of the pre-eminent action stars of his generation, there was always going to come a time when he battled a giant shark. Editor’s note: spoilers ahead for all four episodes of Adolescence
Jack Thorne has just stepped off a train when he picks up the phone to Deadline, the latest destination in a dizzying round of interviews about what could become the biggest hit of his career: Adolescence.
The writer was arriving back in London from Manchester, where he and Stephen Graham sat on BBC Breakfast’s famous red sofa to discuss their Netflix series in front of the British nation. For a man who always appears breathlessly busy with work, even Thorne seems a little dazed by the interest in Adolescence. “It’s been a really delicious and wonderful whirlwind,” he says.
Thorne and Adolescence director Philip Barantini first sat down with Deadline last month to tease the drama, which opens with 13-year-old Jamie Miller (played by the extraordinary newcomer Owen Cooper) being arrested by armed police on suspicion of murder.

David Cronenberg has said that his new film The Shrouds – which has been making the festival rounds lately (you can read what JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray thought of it Here) – was originally intended to be a Netflix TV series, but the streamer dropped it after paying him to write the pilot episode. So a feature film it is, and Sideshow and Janus Films have acquired all U.S. distribution rights to the film, with their plan being to give it a theatrical release next month. The Shrouds will be reaching theatres in New York and Los Angeles on April 18th, then will expand nationwide on April 25th. Here’s the reason given: Rated R for strong sexual content, graphic nudity, language and some violent content.

Nicolas Cage is continuing to expand his wild filmography by dipping his toes into the western genre. But, it wouldn't be a Nic Cage movie without the actor either delivering one of the most groundbreaking, emotional performances of his life, or one of the most bonkers caricatures you've ever seen. For his new, wild western, Gunslingers, Cage has characteristically chosen the latter.
The first trailer for Gunslingers has now been unleashed, and it's safe to say that Cage is a certified scene-stealer once again. The film is written and directed by Brian Skiba (Guns of Redemption) and is set to be released on April 11. Alongside Cage, Gunslingers also stars Heather Graham, Stephen Dorff, and Scarlet Rose Stallone. Cage plays mad genius Ben, who is guided to a town named Redemption to confront their violent histories. The official synopsis reads:

There are lots of changes from last week's top five lists of most viewed shows and movies on Netflix. The latest details are now on Tudum and reveal eight new entries across the two lists. Time then to take a closer look at whats new and the two that remained.
With lots of movies being added over recent weeks and a few departing from the platform, some changes were almost inevitable. Though I didn't expect to see just one remain unchanged from last week. As is often the case, some favorite old characters make a reappearance, too.
Likewise, in terms of shows there were some big hitters arriving on our screens recently. That's definitely had an impact this week with just one remaining from the previous week. The list highlights the ongoing popularity of a docuseries to get behind a story we know and fits well alongside the demand for great drama and thrillers.

Why Did Nicolas Cage’s Wife Patricia Arquette Eat Garlic Before Kissing Ewan McGregor Onscreen? (Photo Credit – Wikipedia)
Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette were a power couple in the late ‘90s when both were reaching the heights of their careers. But in their golden era, a movie rarely lacked intimate scenes, making the presence of a smooching partner a given.
Cage and Arquette were no exception either. Like Hollywood relationships, they inevitably faced the awkwardness of filming intimate scenes with co-stars. However, they had a unique method to ensure professional boundaries remained intact — garlic.
While promoting the second season of the hit show Severance with Adam Scott, Arquette disclosed her peculiar agreement in a First We Feast video. The Boyhood actress recalled adhering to the pact when filming a kissing scene with Ewan McGregor in the 1997 thriller Nightwatch. “I’m so sorry, but I told my husband [Cage] I was going...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny remains a low point for the Indiana Jones franchise and its leading man, Harrison Ford, ending the beloved adventure film series on a whimper. Though Ford is disappointed by the sequel's performance, he insists he has no regrets about making the 2023 blockbuster.
Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Ford addressed Dial of Destiny's box-office struggles, with the movie marking his last turn as the eponymous archeologist and thrill seeker. Ford admits he gambled on Dial of Destiny, insisting he wanted to tell one more story centered around his lead character. Though he takes some blame for its underwhelming performance, Ford doesn't feel he made a mistake doing the later Indiana Jones film.

It's rare to find a truly legendary actor, someone whose multifaceted talents and stellar track record can justify such a lofty moniker. Luckily for all, there are a few performers whose talent has earned them that title, with one of the most deserving being the hilarious, the tearjerking, and even the at-times traumatizing Nicolas Cage. From Vampire's Kiss to National Treasure, the man has made a name for himself through gripping performances — which is what makes it so unfortunate that a string of lackluster roles means viewers didn't see him for a while.

They Cloned Tyrone is a 2023 sci-fi mystery film directed by Juel Taylor, in his feature film directorial debut. The film’s story centers on a motley trio living in the fictional though recognizable Glen, a neighborhood replete with its own thriving criminal ecosystem. There’s the drug dealer Fontaine (John Boyega), the prostitute Yo-Yo (Teyonah Parris), and Slick Charles (Jamie Foxx), a cartoonish pimp, all of whom find themselves in a web of intrigue after Fontaine is shot dead yet wakes up in his bed the next day. Eager to discover how Fontaine lives on, despite being fatally gunned down in front of Slick Charles and Yo-Yo, the trio set off on an impromptu investigation into the hidden activities of the Glen. The critically acclaimed film boasts a particular strain of home-grown conspiracy and spins a simultaneously bleak and entertaining sci-fi tale about circumstance, autonomy, governmental corruption and the importance of identity.

The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Season 1, now streaming on Disney+
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Season 1 is a breath of fresh air in the galaxy far, far away. The wild ride nodded to The Goonies and National Treasure, but with a cosmic twist. Luckily, Wim and his young friends make it back home to At Attin.
On top of that, Jude Law's Captain Silvo fails with his plan to control the mint there and get unlimited credits. One would assume the story is all wrapped up by the Season 1 finale. But there are some major questions left unanswered that must be addressed by a second season.
What Happened to Captain Silvo? Silvo Is Currently on the Run on At Attin

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent cast and character guide. Directed by Tom Gormican from a screenplay by him and Kevin Etten, the film breaks the fourth wall by having Nicolas Cage portraying a fictional version of himself — Nick Cage, an actor who can no longer land a major studio role and is in a lot of debt despite having starred in blockbusters like National Treasure. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is a rare movie wherein an actor playing a version of themselves works on many levels.
The plot combines various genres and leans quite a bit into the buddy comedy aspect. It’s unclear where Gormican and Etten may have gotten the idea for the movie, but Cage certainly has no issue spoofing parts of his career and making meta jokes about the films he’s made and the movie industry at large. As the actor's resurgence continues, a recent Nicolas Cage hit is finding a new streaming home. Even before landing his Oscar win for Leaving Las Vegas, the actor had made a name for himself in the '80s with leading roles in everything from the teen romantic comedy Valley Girl to the Coen brothers' Raising Arizona. He would solidify himself as a household name with his work in the action genre throughout the '90s and 2000s, including Michael Bay's The Rock, John Woo's Face/Off and the National Treasure franchise.
For the majority of the 2010s, Cage infamously became better known for his work in critically panned direct-to-video movies, which he has since explained stemmed from encountering financial problems and taking on as many projects as possible to make up for it. Disney has created massive blockbuster brands throughout their many years in Hollywood, from their massive Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to the acquisition of Lucasfilms, which included the Indiana Jones character. The legendary explorer has had an interesting past few years, with James Mangold's swan song for the character, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, not making the waves that it should have critically or at the box office. The production team behind Netflix’s Black Mirror has a new series, Toxic Town, set to arrive on the streaming platform sometime this year. Netflix has released the first image (above) for the four-part limited series starring Jodie Whittaker and Robert Carlyle, which traces the true story of the Corby toxic waste case from the UK.
A town in Northamptonshire, Corby was once home to steel works which were shuttered in 1981. However, the toxic waste left behind contaminated the area, leading to health issues for those who lived there. An investigation and subsequent case found that the Corby Borough Council’s actions in moving the waste led to birth defects, namely, an above-average number of Corby residents born with upper-limb defects. Netflix's series will center primarily on the mothers whose children were affected. Per the official synopsis for Toxic Town:

From Marvel to Star Wars to Disney classics, it is no wonder Disney+ is one of the most popular streaming platforms for finding great movies, and January 2025 has a terrific collection. 2024 came to an end with a lot of big Disney titles for fans to look forward to watching on Disney+ in the future, like Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King. There is also a lot to look forward to from the streamer, with MCU movies like Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, as well as anticipated sequels like Freakier Friday and Zootopia 2.
While there will be a big wait for some of those titles to land on Disney+, there are plenty of movies to choose from in the library in January 2025. Some of Disney's biggest 2024 releases are available, like Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2, as well as some overlooked gems like The Young Woman and the Sea.

Disney has been trying — and failing — to recreate the success of the first Pirates of the Caribbean since The Curse of the Black Pearl first sailed onto the big screen in 2003. Within just a few years of that, the entertainment giant produced two flawed but serviceable, enjoyable sequels that delighted audiences with more swashbuckling fantasy, masterful effects, and fan-favorite character dynamics as the original. However, the franchise has since gone downhill, and most will agree that the later Pirates of the Caribbean movies are the worst.
Along the way, Disney tried some more movies based on theme park rides and other properties similar in tone to Pirates of the Caribbean. Jerry Bruckheimer brought the National Treasure movies to the table; The Lone Ranger completely flopped; Jungle Cruise made for an average but interesting turn. Yet none of them quite perfected the aesthetic and story perfection of Curse of the Black Pearl.

Guy Ritchie's latest movie, the heist adventure Fountain of Youth, feels like a spiritual successor to the Indiana Jones franchise, and is actually a better alternative than a potential sixth installment of the Harrison Ford franchise. Fountain of Youth represents somewhat of a departure from the norm for Ritchie, who typically deals in gangster comedies and spy thrillers. Guy Ritchie's upcoming movie will be a family-friendly action-adventure movie, very much in the vein of the National Treasure or The Mummy franchises, and will star Hollywood A-listers John Krasinski and Natalie Portman.

The crime procedural Bones follows Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and her team of scientists at the Jeffersonian Institute as they help FBI agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) solve murders. Brennan, a genius anthropologist with poor social skills, initially clashes with Booth, an intuitive decision-maker. After a couple of seasons of will they/won't they tension, the opposites attract.
One of Bones' biggest strengths is the fact it never takes itself too seriously. Because the show centers around forensic science, it is prone to grizzly visuals, but it integrates quirky characters and kooky storylines to keep its tone light and fun. Sometimes, the series leans really far into that absurdist sense of camp, and as a result, Booth and Brennan have worked some outrageous cases.

National Treasure 3 is needed more than ever after the cancelation of National Treasure: Edge of History.
