Exclusive: Ariyon Bakare discusses his biggest movie role to date, in sci-fi thriller Life
Author: Stefan Pape

Despite having appeared in both Rogue One and Jupiter Ascending, Life marks the first major cinematic role for British actor Ariyon Bakare, and we had the pleasure of sitting down with the talented actor to promote the Daniel Espinosa sci-fi.

We discussed the plausibility of the narrative at hand, and whether that was a selling point, while also pointing towards the sheer horror that derives from the unknown – which the antagonist in this picture(an organism named Calvin) represents.

Julie Lynn, Mary Jo Markey, and Nigel Phelps in Life (2017)
Life Trailer: Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal Discover a Terrifying Alien
Julie Lynn, Mary Jo Markey, and Nigel Phelps in Life (2017)
In 1979, Ridley Scott used one simple word. Alien. And it became an instantly recognizable franchise. Now, Sony Pictures hopes to capture that same kind of simplicity with their likeminded new sci-fi thriller Life. The first trailer debuted last night during The Walking Dead, and it proved to be quite scary.

Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.

Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa. He first made a name for himself with the action crime drama Easy Money, starring Joel Kinnaman. He would then go onto direct Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington in the mystery thriller Safe House.
