Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage Strike First-Look Deal With Amazon; Barneys New York Drama In The Works With Susan Rovner As EP
Image
Exclusive: Fake Empire duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, best known for guiding Gossip Girl, have struck a first-look TV deal with Amazon MGM Studios and set up a luxurious new drama series.

The pair have struck a two-year deal with the company, which they are already in business with on a number of projects including Sterling Point, a drama from My Old Ass writer/director Megan Park and LuckyChap.

They have set their first project under the new deal – a drama set in Barneys New York.

The untitled series is set when Barneys reopens its doors in Manhattan, and the fashion elite and behind-the-scenes staff collide in a whirlwind of ambition, secrets, and style.

Barneys was a New York institution; a high-end department store that was founded in 1923. After being acquired by Authentic Brands Group, it closed its brick-and-mortars stores but remained as a brand, particularly as a partnership...

Why Marissa Cooper Actor Mischa Barton Left ‘The O.C.’ After Three Seasons: Explained
Image
Mischa Barton had that early-2000s glow—fresh, trendy, and suddenly everywhere. We first saw her as the spooky little girl in The Sixth Sense, but it was The O.C. that truly made her a star. As Marissa Cooper, she became the teen drama royalty. She had the perfect look, amazing style, and unforgettable moments on the show.

But not everything was as shiny as it seemed. By 2006, just three seasons into the hit show, Barton made a surprising exit. It felt sudden, like the story stopped mid-sentence. Fans were left wondering why. Behind the glam and red carpets, she was under real pressure. Her quiet departure hinted that life behind the camera was a lot more complicated than anyone knew. Fame looked fun, but for Barton, it came with a storm she hadn’t signed up for.

Marissa Cooper’s tragic end in The O.C. Mischa Barton and...

Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy in Clueless (1995)
As If! Cher Horowitz With Alicia Silverstone May Return for A ‘Clueless’ Sequel Series
Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy in Clueless (1995)
Image Source: Paramount Pictures It’s shaping up to be a notable year for the iconic 1995 comedy Clueless. The film will celebrate its 30th anniversary later this summer, and as Cher Horowitz would famously say, “As If!” Since its release, Clueless has cultivated a dedicated fanbase and continues to find new audiences through home entertainment and streaming. While a Clueless television series did air from 1996 to 1999, it notably did not feature the film’s star, Alicia Silverstone, as Cher. However, nearly three decades later, Silverstone is set to return to the role of the beloved Beverly Hills high schooler. According to a report from Variety, a sequel series is in development for Peacock, brought to you by the creative minds behind hit shows like The Oc, Gossip Girl, and Dollface. Silverstone will not only star but also serve as an executive producer on the project. Alicia Silverstone’s portrayal of...

But sometimes, you hear about a revival that just has you unbelievably excited, which brings us to...

Clueless staging a comeback in the form of a sequel series at Peacock! I know, I know, I was skeptical at first when Deadline broke the news, but the more and more I heard about the show, the more I realized this was the iteration of a reboot/revival that we deserve and need. Not only are the creators of Gossip Girl, Josh Schwartz (who also created The O.C.) and Stephanie Savage on board, but Clueless star Alicia Silverstone will be back to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz!

Alicia Silverstone's Best Movie Is Getting A Proper Sequel Series At Peacock, But Does Anyone Want That?
Image
Today's news has got fans of Amy Heckerling's coming-of-age masterpiece "Clueless" waffling between totally freaking and totally bugging, because according to Variety, the Peacock streaming service is currently developing a sequel series with star Alicia Silverstone set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz.

If this sounds like old news, it's because you're probably thinking of a different Peacock "Clueless" series that was announced back in 2020 and slated to star Stacey Dash, reviving her role as Cher's ride-or-die bestie Dionne. Well, that series is no longer happening, and this series currently has Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage attached to write, along with Jordan Weiss. The trio will executive produce alongside Silverstone, and they'll be joined by the original film's producer, Robert Lawrence, and writer/director Heckerling as executive producers as well.

The original "Clueless" was initially envisioned as a television show before becoming one of the most successful...

Alicia Silverstone to Return as Cher for ‘Clueless’ Series at Peacock
Image
Alicia Silverstone will reprise her iconic “Clueless” role of Cher Horowitz for a TV series based on the classic 1990s film, TheWrap has learned. She is also attached to executive produce the follow-up, along with Amy Heckerling, who directed and wrote the 1995 comedy, and producer Robert Lawrence.

It’s being developed by CBS Studios in association with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Peacock.

Writers and executive producers on the series are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage through their Fake Empire banner. They previously teamed on “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl.”

Jordan Weiss, who created the Kat Dennings Hulu series “Dollface” and scripted upcoming Disney sequel “Freakier Friday,” will also serve as writer and EP. She was also a writer on the Max animated series “Harley Quinn” and directed and co-wrote 2024’s holiday romcom “Sweethearts,” which starred Kiernan Shipka.

’Clueless’ Series in the Works (Again) at Peacock, Alicia Silverstone Attached to Star as Cher Horowitz
Image
Cher Horowitz may be on her way back to the screen.

Peacock is developing a follow-up series to Clueless, with Alicia Silverstone attached to reprise her iconic role as Cher. She’ll also be an executive producer of the project, which comes from writers Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The O.C.) and Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday). Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the 1995 film, and its producer Robert Lawrence are also EPs.

CBS Studios, which owns rights to Clueless — corporate sibling Paramount Pictures released the movie — and Universal Television are producing. Other than Silverstone once again playing Cher, story details are being kept quiet.

The current iteration of Clueless is not related to another take on the story that Peacock began developing in 2020 — and scuttled nine months later. That show had a mystery-fueled plot that centered on Cher disappearing and her best friend Dionne (played by Stacey Dash in the movie) investigating what happened.

Like Star Trek’s Jonathan Frakes, A Voyager Legend Moved Behind the Camera to Direct the Most Legendary ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ Episode
Image
It is not a new thing for members of the Star Trek cast to step behind the camera and take on directing duties for some episodes. Who better than the only ones to feature in every episode to take over the reins sometimes? Actors like Jonathan Frakes and LeVar Burton have directed the most number of Star Trek episodes even after their shows ended.

However, one actress who transitioned into directing and has made it her bread and butter (much like Frakes) is Voyager’s Roxann Dawson. Dawson played B’Elanna Torres in the spinoff show and directed two episodes of the series later. She has since been the guiding force for some of the best network shows of the past few decades.

'Nobody Wants This' Season 2 May Hit Netflix In October 2025
Image
Netflix's hit comedy, the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell-starring Nobody Wants This, is well into production on the series' second installment. And, given the popularity of the "loosely based on a true story" tale from Erin Foster, it's probably no surprise to anyone that the streaming service is eyeing an Asap release date for Season 2. With production slated to wrap in April of this year, it seems as though a primetime, fall release date is a given for the popular series.

According to the blog What's On Netflix, the streamer is allegedly eyeing an October 2025 premiere date for the show's second season. Which will no doubt be music to the ears of the users who helped contribute to Nobody Wants This amassing approximately 56.8 million views in 2024 alone. While Netflix has yet to confirm anything, we would not be surprised if it makes all of this official when they...

Where to Watch ‘Magazine Dreams’: Is the Jonathan Majors Movie Streaming?
Image
It has been well over two years since “Magazine Dreams” made its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Following its premiere, the movie received largely mixed reviews but most critics were quick to heap praise on the performance given by its star, Jonathan Majors. It was subsequently picked up by Searchlight Pictures, which originally slated it to be released on December 8, 2023 — likely targeting a potential awards campaign for Majors.

The actor was caught up, however, in a domestic assault scandal in March 2023 that tarnished his previously shining, fast-rising star profile. Searchlight later dropped “Magazine Dreams,” reportedly due to both Majors’ assault case and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Briarcliff Entertainment has since acquired the film’s distribution rights, though, and it is now on the verge of finally being released.

Here is where, when and how you can watch “Magazine Dreams.”

The ‘Final Destination’ Films, Ranked from Worst to Best
Image
Like it or not, 2025 is rapidly becoming the Year of the Freak Accident.

In horror, everybody from audiences who loved “The Monkey” to that very flammable fellow in “The Rule of Jenny Pen” is feeling it. But there’s even more to come when “Final Destination” — the genre’s most criminally underrated supernatural franchise — returns with scads more not-so-accidental deaths on May 16.

The aughts used to get a bad rap in pop culture, but that’s improved somewhat in recent years. As filmmakers have released their death-grip obsession on the ’80s, familiar faces and franchises from throughout the 2000s have reemerged across all types of movies and TV. Right now, for example, you can see the forty-something “Veronica Mars” dating that forty-something guy from “The O.C.” in a rom-com on Netflix that’s been wildly popular — in spite of the title “Nobody Wants This.”

When it comes to nostalgia for aughts-era nightmares,...

While the role of Hannah Montana is now known as the role that launched the career of superstar Miley Cyrus, in another reality, it would have been the big breakout role of Pretty Little Liars starLucy Hale. 12 Best TV Shows Like Outer Banks
Image
One of Netflix's biggest hit original series in recent years is "Outer Banks," which premiered in 2020 and ran for five seasons. Set in the scenic beach towns of North Carolina, the series blended coming-of-age drama, along with romance and action, elevated by its young, charismatic main cast. "Outer Banks" reinvigorated teen dramas and thrillers, but the genre has been a television staple for decades. With that in mind, there are countless shows like "Outer Banks" for fans looking to find the series' effective soap operatic stakes elsewhere.

From shows set in other picturesque locations around the country or featuring cool, stylish characters in a cycle of love and betrayal, there are plenty of teen dramas to watch. What links these series are young, impossibly beautiful main characters, often thrust into melodramatic storylines that grow increasingly ludicrous. For fans of the genre, they wouldn't have these teen and young adult shows any other way.

The George Lucas Cameo You Missed In Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Image
George Lucas changed cinema forever with "Star Wars." He didn't just alter the medium in terms of franchising, but he also pushed the limits of independent cinema and revolutionized everything from visual effects to digital editing, sound design, and filming. But you already know that, right?

What you may not know, however, is that Lucas frequently made appearances in non-"Star Wars" movies and TV shows throughout his career. For example, the now-retired filmmaker once cameoed in his buddy Steven Spielberg's Peter Pan film "Hook," specifically in a scene where he makes out with Carrie Fisher. (!) Lucas also played a small role in "Beverly Hills Cop III" (sharing the screen with Christina Venuti) and even showed up in an episode of "The O.C." once.

Of course, "Star Wars" fans are aware that Lucas similarly popped up in "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith." In that case,...

Love Hurts gets a 4K Collector’s Edition Blu-ray from Universal
Image
Ke Huy Quan‘s leading debut with Love Hurts may not have blazed as hot as his comeback in Everything, Everywhere All at Once, but it’s certainly the type of throwback movie that is rarely seen nowadays. It’s a simple, fun, goofy little action comedy that’s brisk enough for an entertaining casual viewing and it doesn’t try to be anything more. Quan’s charm and his action prowess really come through and it’s cool to see him step up into the lead role.

Love Hurts is set to have a collector’s edition 4K Blu-ray release courtesy of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, according to Blu-ray.com. While Love Hurts didn’t make a big splash at the box office, you can catch the movie on physical media with a bunch of special features, including a bevy of deleted and alternate scenes. Wtf Happened to the 2003 version of Daredevil?
Image
In the first few years of the millennium, studios were finally getting hip to the fact that superhero movies, done in a comic-accurate way, could be big at the box office. Bryan Singer’s X-Men opened the door, but it was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man that made the genre a no-brainer. One studio that was eager to get in on the comic book movie action was 20th Century Fox, which produced X-Men. They managed to get the rights to one of Marvel’s most enduring superheroes, Daredevil, producing a film that was solid, if unspectacular, when it came out on Valentine’s Day in 2003. The movie marked Ben Affleck’s first outing as a superhero and proved divisive among fans. Some say it’s underrated, while others say it’s dated garbage. Who’s right? Let’s find out Wtf Happened to Daredevil.

Why Fox Canceled The O.C.
Image
Ask your typical Millennial about "The O.C." — the primetime teen soap that aired on Fox from 2003 to 2007 — and I'm willing to bet that the show's iconic theme song, "California" by Phantom Planet, just started playing in their head. Created by Josh Schwartz, the series starts out by introducing audiences to Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie), a troubled kid from Chino who ends up in jail after stealing a car with his older brother. When Ryan meets his public defender Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher), the big-hearted lawyer offers his aid ... and when Ryan goes back home only to discover that his mother has moved and left him behind, Sandy takes Ryan to live with him in the affluent Orange County. Despite initial concerns from Sandy's wife Kirsten (Kelly Rowan), Ryan fits in pretty well with the Cohens, immediately forging a friendship with her only son Seth (Adam Brody) ... and when he meets...
