Creator Genndy Tartakovsky on Why ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’ Is a Hit: “None of us were married and we didn’t have kids”
Image
Dexter’s Laboratory creator Genndy Tartakovsky says his singlehood while working on the animated series was partly responsible for its success. Speaking in an interview, the ace animator shared his unorthodox point of view regarding relationships, as he implied that the show was successful because they were all single.

Almost three decades after the first episode of Dexter’s Laboratory aired on Cartoon Network, Tartakovsky shared the reason for the show’s success. The animated series narrated the story of a young science prodigy, Dexter, who did several science experiments in his laboratory. However, his experiments received challenges equally from his sister, Dee Dee, and his rival, Mandark.

While the storyline was intriguing enough to ensure Dexter’s Laboratory’s success, the 55-year-old Russian origin creator hints at something else. According to Tartakovsky, it was his and his team members’ marital status that played an important role.

“I was bummed”: Before Tales of the Underworld, One Star Wars Actress Was Not Happy How Dave Filoni Ended Her Character Arc in the Clone Wars
Image
Before Tales of the Underworld gave her character a second chance, one Star Wars actress wasn’t okay with how her arc ended in The Clone Wars. She openly admitted feeling “bummed” by the way Dave Filoni wrapped stuff up.

While fans were left with questions, she shared that same frustration, unsure if the story was really over. For years, her fate remained a mystery until the franchise decided to dig deeper, peeling back the layers of a once-forgotten story fans never stopped thinking about.

Why was Nika Futterman bummed about Asajj Ventress’ Clone Wars arc ending in Star Wars? A still from Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld | Credits: Lucasfilm

Asajj Ventress’ journey hasn’t been without bumps. Nika Futterman, the voice behind the iconic character since 2008, opened up about her initial disappointment when The Clone Wars ended prematurely, cutting short Ventress’ arc. Reflecting on how the character’s...

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld Review — Dave Filoni’s Iconic Villains Go to New Heights
Image
When the “Tales” mini-series started to air every May the 4th, they felt like a gimmick to give the Lucasfilm Animation team a chance to revisit their favorite characters. In the years since, several of these shows have popped up, but with each year, Lucasfilm and the animation team push the boundaries of what is possible within their aesthetic and storytelling choices. With Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, they may have cracked the code for the best kinds of stories, with two of the best Dave Filoni-era characters the galaxy has ever seen. With two more phenomenal stories for Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld represents a new high watermark for the animated mini-series.

Star Wars Star Discusses Rediscovering Asajj Ventress' Voice for Tales of the Underworld
Image
With Asajj Ventress' return in Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld come small, but important tweaks to how she sounds now vs. the Clone Wars era.

Speaking with StarWars.com ahead of the series' release, voice actor Nika Futterman addressed the process of getting back into character as Ventress, stating, "I've really gone from just feeling and imagining, to doing more research into her. It was a quick jump back into being who she is." This includes playing around with the Sith-turned-bounty hunter's distinct voice, something she revealed "was one of the first things I talked to Dave Filoni about when I came back. When I first started with her, she was very regal. She'll always have a little bit of that, because she's witchy and Dathmorian, but now there's a new edge to her. She still has the guttural, deep, dark voice, but now with a little less of the lilt.

Genndy Tartakovsky Was Only Offered ‘Clone Wars’ Because George Lucas’ Prequel Trilogy Tanked Star Wars Sales
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky is a legend of the animation medium, having created some of the most popular Cartoon Network shows. During the early 2000s, Tartakovsky was fresh off the success of Samurai Jack when he was tapped to helm an animated series set in the Star Wars universe and focusing on the Clone Wars event.

The proposed animated series was created to explore the titular conflict in the space opera saga’s prequel trilogy. However, in an interview, Tartakovsky revealed the real reason he secured the gig. The animator explained how the franchise’s declining sales in one department were the reason for the animated show’s creation, and here is what Tartakovsky said.

Genndy Tartakovsky revealed he was offered Clone Wars to boost Star Wars sales

Before the beloved Dave Filoni version of The Clone Wars, filmmaker George Lucas sought to explore the titular conflict in a 2D animated series.

One Teen Titans Scene Is Enough to Convince Everyone the Show Needs an Adult Swim Revival Like Samurai Jack
Image
Teen Titans was intended to run for only four seasons, but the immense popularity of the series led the network to come up with a fifth season. While fans enjoyed this fifth season, the network ended the series on a vague note. The thirteenth episode of Season 5, titled Things Change, brought back one character from Season 2 who we thought was dead.

The character of Terra joined the Teen Titans after displaying her geo-kinetic abilities in Season 2. However, we saw her switch her loyalty and become an apprentice to Slade, the enemy of the Titans. She essentially betrayed her friends and Beast Boy, who took an interest in her. She later had a change of heart and helped the Titans beat Slade. In the process, she sacrifices herself.

In the episode, Things Change, Terra appears as a normal school girl, shocking Beast Boy. However, the episode left us all wondering what...

Netflix releases new images of Genndy Tartakovsky’s adult animation film Fixed along with a release date
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky is one of Cartoon Network’s premiere contributors, with hits like Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Primal to his name. Tartakovsky is also one of the driving forces behind the Hotel Transylvania film series, which has done well for Sony with four films of varying success in the franchise. It was reported months ago that Tartakovsky’s newest mature audience fare, Fixed, fell victim to David Zaslav’s project jettison practice at Warner Bros. in order to save money at the studio. Sony regained the rights and Netflix has now picked it up to stream on August 13.

The official synopsis reads,

“From visionary director Genndy Tartakovsky comes Fixed, an adult animated comedy about Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he’s going to be neutered in the morning! As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one...

Metacritic's Highest-Rated Adventure-Horror Series Is An Animated Gem Streaming On Max
Image
"Primal" is many things. For starters, it's a thoughtful look at the unifying experiences of loss and grief, as well as one of the most accurate (and sensitive) depictions of what it's like to live with an animal companion put to screen. It's also the gnarliest animated "Conan the Barbarian" adaptation that's never been made and often plays like a Robert E. Howard fever dream.

Case in point: Over the course of Genndy Tartakovsky's rip-roaring blend of prehistoric fantasy, action-adventure, and horror, the show's heroes are forced to survive scraps with flash floods of blood-thirsty snakes, colossal bats, and even a dinosaur infected with what seems to be a nastier strain of the Rage virus from "28 Days Later." And that's before they cross paths with the human tribes residing in this extremely anachronistic (not to mention gleefully pulpy) vision of Earth's very distant past.

To put it another way,...

'Star Wars' Villains Return in 'Tales of the Underworld' Disney+ Series
Image
Fans will be able to celebrate 'May the Fourth' with the return of Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane in the animated short series, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld. Starting in 2022, Star Wars started to embrace the short form animation to expand many side characters with Tales of the Jedi, which focused on the origins of Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano. In 2024, the follow-up Tales of the Empire brought back the long-dangling thread of Barriss Offee from The Clone Wars and Morgan Elsbeth from The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. Now, fans will get to see the bounty hunter side of the Star Wars Universe with Tales of the Underworld.

Disney released an official trailer for Tales of the Underworld, which reveals the series will put the spotlight on two fan-favorite bounty hunters from the Clone Wars era, Asajj Ventress (Nika Futterman) and Cad Bane (voiced by Corey Burton). Both storylines will...

The finale of Star Wars: Clone Wars celebrates its 20th anniversary
Image
It is absolutely true that Star Wars: The Clone Wars expanded and enriched the fandom's understanding of and appreciation for the titular conflict. It might be hard to find someone who doesn't know something about the 2008 series that brought us Ahsoka Tano, fleshed out the Skywalkers' secret marriage, and made us genuinely mourn the clones' turn against their Jedi friends.

Five years before that, Genndy Tartakovsky developed and directed Star Wars: Clone Wars. The miniseries of animated shorts was released by Cartoon Network and got fans through the wait for Revenge of the Sith with 25 tension-building episodes. It's been 20 years since the series finale aired in March 2005, so let's celebrate the series for what it was.

Why the Jedi Made 1 This Major Change in The Clone Wars (And Fans Loved It)
Image
Quick LinksThe Clone Wars Changed the Status Quo For the JediArmor Harmed the Jedi's Reputation During the Clone WarsTechnical Limitations Made the Jedi's Armor Necessary

The Star Wars prequel trilogy established the uniform of the Jedi Order during the era of the Galactic Republic. Given their lightsaber skills and incredible Force abilities, the Jedi did not need armor. Instead, they wore plain brown and white robes, reminiscent of the simple garb worn by characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Owen Lars in the original trilogy. The Jedi valued humility and restraint, and their clothing reflected this; it was a stark contrast to the Jedi of the earlier High Republic era, who dressed in extravagant gold robes. In the prequel trilogy, there were a few Jedi who diverged from the traditional uniform, such as Anakin Skywalker, Luminara Unduli, and Aayla Secura, but their unique clothing choices were based on their aesthetic...

Where Is Her Solo Movie, Dave Filoni? Everyone Gushes Over Darth Maul But Clone Wars Gave Another Star Wars Villain a Better Redemption Arc
Image
The Star Wars universe is filled with complex characters, including the likes of Darth Vader and Darth Maul. Some of these characters were fleshed out much better in the animated The Clone Wars series supervised by Dave Filoni. In the series, Filoni developed a brilliant redemption arc for the prequel trilogy villain Maul.

Star Wars is known for its complex villains such as Darth Maul (Credit: Lucasfilm).

However, another Sith character had an equally complex and riveting redemption arc. The character in question is Asajj Ventress, initially introduced as an assassin seeking to be a true Sith apprentice. However, Ventress’ arc was so well crafted that she arguably deserves a solo project and Filoni must consider it.

Asajj Ventress’ redemption arc remains one of the most satisfying in Star Wars

Anakin's Best Star Wars Duel Didn't Come From the Movies But From a Nearly Forgotten Miniseries

Anakin Skywalker took part in many memorable fight scenes in the Star Wars franchise. Throughout the prequel trilogy and the subsequent animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Anakin faced off against the likes of Count Dooku, Bariss Offee, General Grievous, and tragically, his own master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin was one of the best duelists in the series, so seeing him in action was always a treat for Star Wars fans, especially when his future Darth Vader persona started to slip through. Every time he fought, he risked inching closer to the Dark Side of the Force. Yet one of Anakin’s most exciting, dynamic, and visually appealing fight scenes came from a less popular series that aired years before The Clone Wars or even...

How Did Anakin Skywalker Get His Face Scar?

Anakin Skywalker's scar in Star Wars is well known—but where did it come from? Anakin is one of the most important characters in all of Star Wars' movies and TV shows, but not all the gaps in Anakin Skywalker's Star Wars timeline have been filled in. Hilariously, that includes Anakin's prominent scar, which begins on his forehead on the right side of his face and runs just below his right eye, despite how iconic the scar has become.

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Anakin did not have a scar. By Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the scar had appeared over his eye with no explanation. With the prequels giving no indication of how Anakin earned this scar, here's everything Star Wars has revealed about what happened to Anakin's eye.

I Can't Believe The Jedi Trials Were Ever As Grueling As This
Image
All Jedi Padawans must face the Jedi Trials to become a true Jedi Knight in the Star Wars franchise, but they were far more brutal than I expected at one point in the Jedi Order’s history. Although the Jedi are among the most prominent heroes in the franchise, many Star Wars viewers (and even some Star Wars properties themselves) are quite critical of the prequel-era Jedi Order – and understandably so. In the prequels, the Jedi were complacent, compromised by increasingly corrupt Republic politics, and dogmatic to the point of losing touch with the common people of the galaxy.

Despite this, however, I do not think that the Jedi were “the true villains” of the prequels and I have very real problems with some of the more overzealous criticisms of the prequel-era Jedi Order. The Jedi of the era are, collectively, a highly flawed yet ultimately well-intentioned organization. Despite my...

George Lucas' Clone Wars Accidentally Made Attack Of The Clones' Most Ridiculous Plot So Much Worse
Image
One character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars made the most absurd plot line in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones much worse. The prequel trilogy era is one of the most important in the Star Wars timeline because there was significant change during this periodchange that defined the future of the Jedi, the Republic, and the galaxy for generations. One of the most significant events during this era was the assassination attempt on Padm Amidala in Attack of the Clones, which began a domino effect that sealed Padm and Anakin Skywalker's fates, along with many others.

This assassination attempt has become a long-running joke about Star Wars movies and TV shows, however, because the plot to kill Padm was an overly complicated one, to say the least. Essentially, Palpatine/Darth Sidious told Count Dooku to kill Padm, and Dooku hired Jango Fett, who hired Zam Wesell,...

Everything We Know About Genndy Tartakovskys Primal Season 3 (So Far)

When it comes to animation, Genndy Tartakovsky is a master of the craft. He has done majestic work on Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory and Star Wars: Clone Wars. But it's another Adult Swim series that has garnered him even more plaudits. This is none other than Primal, a story about a caveman named Spear, and the T-Rex named Fang.

After being enemies, Fang and Spear united in a wondrous story about survival, family and second chances. They become best friends and fought off witches, slavers, zombies, megalodons, hunters and other Neanderthals. Sadly, Season 2 of Primal ended in tragedy, though it did provide closure. Which Star Wars Characters Have Appeared In The Most Movies & TV Shows?
Image
The Star Wars franchise has consistently brought back its most iconic characters across many projects, raising the question of which ones have appeared in the most movies and TV shows. Before Disney bought Star Wars in 2012, this would have been much easier to answer, as there were only six theatrical films, a handful of cartoons, and a few TV movies and specials. However, the saga now encompasses 12 theatrical films, six live-action TV shows, nine animated series, multiple micro-series, and countless more projects on the way.

For this list, characters will be ranked by combining the total number of Star Wars movies and TV shows they appeared in, regardless of screen time. If two characters' totals are tied, then their average screen time and number of episodes in the TV shows will be used to estimate which one has more appearances. Lego Star Wars stories, documentaries, TV specials, game shows, and...

Marvel Turned Down A Series Inspired By One Of The Best Star Wars Projects Ever
Image
The best way to adapt comic books to cinema is through animation. At least that's my personal opinion. It's much smoother to put characters from one hand-drawn medium to another than it is trying to weld reality into a setting that was never meant to resemble it. Japanese cartoonists understand this, hence the overflowing manga to anime adaptation pipeline.

But here in America, the biggest superhero movies are the live-action ones that rarely reach the style of the comics they pull from. The Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't had the greatest success at becoming a multimedia project (their Disney+ shows look ever more like a failed experiment), and a story from the studio's early days shows they missed an early shot.

Genndy Tartakovsky, the acclaimed creator of "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Samurai Jack," did storyboarding work on "Iron Man 2." But he didn't get the job by applying directly for it. No,...

Star Wars: The Best Jedi Pilots In The Galaxy (In Canon & Legends)
Image
The two continuities of the Star Wars franchise include a plethora of legendary pilots, with many being Jedi. The Jedi Knights, ultimately, strive for peace in the galaxy, but they are also aware that nefarious forces from pirates and crime syndicates to the dreaded Dark Lords of the Sith prevent them from being pacifists. Because of this, the Jedi are among the most formidable warriors in the galaxy, and although they are most famous for battling their foes with lightsabers, they can be equally formidable in the cockpit of a starfighter.

Most Jedi are proficient pilots, particularly with starfighters. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, there was even a specific discipline among Jedi called Jedi aces, a sub-discipline of Jedi Guardians. Jedi aces were trained to hone their piloting skills to an even greater degree than most Jedi, combining their Force abilities with their piloting skills. The modern Star Wars...

10 Best Star Wars Villains Introduced in the Animated TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Star Wars has produced some of the most iconic villains in pop culture history. Upon the release of the original Star Wars movie in 1977, Darth Vader quickly became an icon of cinematic evil. Its sequel, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back introduced the bounty hunter Boba Fett and, despite his relatively small role in the movie, he too quickly became a fan sensation. The Star Wars prequels continued the trend with the introduction of villains like Darth Maul and General Grievous, who quickly captured fans' imaginations in their conflicts with the Jedi. In recent years, Star Wars has grown beyond the big screen and introduced new villains through various TV series.

Live-action Disney+ series such as The Mandalorian, Andor and Ahsoka have been huge hits with Star Wars fans, but the franchise has particularly excelled in animation. Star Wars: The Clone Wars remains a firm fan favorite...

Genndy Tartakovsky Reveals That He Once Pitched A Marvel Show
Image
In the world of modern adult animation, one of the names you hear the most is Genndy Tartakovsky. While initially starting out making cartoons for younger audiences, such as Dexter’s Laboratory on Cartoon Network, he began to explore more mature forms of storytelling with later series, such as Samurai Jack and Sym-Bionic Titan, until eventually doing more exclusively adult-oriented work, such as Primal and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal.

But one other series the director is known for is the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated mini series, which ran on Cartoon Network from 2003 – 2005. It was the first piece of animated media to show that era of the franchise before its successor series in 2008. This was all before Star Wars was acquired by Disney, of course.

However, he revealed that he pitched another animated series to another company, one that would also eventually fall under the Disney umbrella.

In an interview with Collider,...

10 Star Wars Characters Who Could Beat Yoda In A Battle
Image
There are few Star Wars characters who could defeat the legendary Jedi Grandmaster Yoda. In his The Empire Strikes Back debut, Yoda was quickly established to be one of the wisest of the old guard Jedi, having lived, fought, and trained Jedi Knights for centuries. The Star Wars prequel trilogy portrayed Yoda during the final years of the old Jedi Order, and with the outbreak of the Clone Wars came the first live-action scenes of the venerable Jedi Master using his lightsaber and Force powers in combat. Unsurprisingly, Yoda is one of the most formidable Jedi in the franchise.

Yoda has one of the strongest connections to the Force in the Jedi Orders history, using Force abilities like telekinesis on massive scales with little effort much of the time and easily absorbing deadly dark side powers like Force lightning. Some of Yodas most impressive feats are shown during the Battle...

All 10 Star Wars Animated TV Shows, Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
In the past decade, Star Wars has become well-known for its fantastic animated TV shows. In fact, Star Wars animated shows have become so popular that the franchises live-action series have begun to highlight, cameo, and rely on characters from animation. The Ahsoka series, released in 2023, marked a big moment of recognition for the animated side of Star Wars, as it was the first live-action series devoted to a character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Nevertheless, Star Wars has been dabbling in animation since 1985 and has a total of ten released TV shows thus far.

Since 1985, Star Wars has also produced several micro-series and animated shorts, such as Genndy Tartakovskys Star Wars: Clone Wars and Forces of Destiny. As far as the full-length animated series are concerned, seven of Star Wars ten animated series are currently part of canon. Despite all of these series either being completed or having...

Star Wars Names Order 66's Most Dangerous Survivor & It's Awesome the Franchise Is Trying Something New
Image
Jedi survivors like Tensu Run prove that the Jedi didn't just fade away after Order 66, but fought back against the Empire. The introduction of Tensu Run opens up a new chapter in Star Wars lore by showcasing a Jedi resistance against the Empire. Star Wars: Inquisitors #2 sets the stage for a potential Clone Wars-style series focused on the Jedi vs Sith conflict post-Order 66.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Star Wars: Inquisitors #2! However, with the introduction of one specific Jedi survivor, its become clear that the Jedi werent completely out of the fight after Order 66 was executed, which opens up an entirely new chapter in Star Wars lore.

Darth Vader & Asajj Ventress Team Up In Tremendous Star Wars Cosplay
Image
Darth Vader and Asajj Ventress have teamed up in this intimidating Star Wars-inspired cosplay. Both Darth Vader and Asajj Ventress prefer to work as lone wolves, but theres no denying that they would have made an impressively threatening duo. As Count Dookus former apprentice, Ventress was an incredibly skilled Force-wielder and duelist, giving both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi a run for their money. If Darth Vader was ever in need of an apprentice, or at least another member of the Inquisitorius squad, then Ventress would have been a solid choice.

This fearsome cosplay by cosplayers Mira and Allgu-Trooper shows us all what could have been if Ventress had remained loyal to the Sith and Count Dooku. Darth Vaders looming presence is menacing as always, and Asajj Ventress is ready for a fight, wielding her iconic dual red lightsabers.

Why One Revenge Of The Sith Villain Was Always Meant To Be A Disappointment
Image
I was as disappointed as any with one villain from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but this was always the point. My opinion on the third film in George Lucas' trilogy often aligns with many others; I think Revenge of the Sith is one of the best-ranked Star Wars movies. It is undoubtedly the best movie in the prequel trilogy and, in my opinion, falls behind only Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back regarding its place in my franchise ranking.

One of the reasons I hold Revenge of the Sith in such high regard is due to the film's fantastic Star Wars action scenes. The brilliant battles of The Clone Wars and the lightsaber duels match the film's bleaker tone and solidify Revenge of the Sith's place on the chronological Star Wars timeline as an integral stepping stone in creating one of the franchise's most iconic villains.

21 Years Later, I Still Don't Think Star Wars Has Come Close To Beating This Incredible Lightsaber Duel
Image
Although Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) is likely the Clone Wars show audiences first think of, Star Wars' non-canon Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) show came firstand it showcased one of Star Wars' best lightsaber duels. Lightsaber battles have been a key component of Star Wars movies and TV shows from the very beginning. In fact, as the Star Wars timeline expands, Star Wars movies and shows seem to always be on the lookout for a way to make lightsaber fights more thrilling.

This has included expanding lightsaber colors and their meanings, but it also has led to some absolutely brilliant lightsaber designs and both animated and live-action duels that are choreographed nearly like dances. In fact, impressively, Star Wars' TV shows have kept up with the movies in terms of fantastically executed lightsaber duels. Clones Wars (2003) is a perfect example of this, as, truly, this show includes one of the...

The Acolyte Star Manny Jacinto Reveals How The Show's Most Chilling Sith Power Was Filmed
Image
At Dragon Con 2024, Qimir/the Stranger actor Manny Jacinto explained how Star Wars' newest Sith Lord pulled off his incredibly creepy entrance in The Acolyte episode 4. Despite The Acolyte's cancelation, the show remains a fascinating addition to Star Wars movies and TV shows. In fact, in spite of the show's mixed reception (to say the least), many viewers found Qimir/the Stranger absolutely fascinating. Part of the success of this character was due to how truly evil, powerful, and creepy he was, and his episode 4 entrance was a great example.

As shared by oshaniseyas on X, Manny Jacinto revealed many new details about his experience playing Qimir/the Stranger in The Acolyte at Dragon Con. Among these reveals was an explanation of how the Stranger floated down from the sky when he made his entrance in The Acolyte episode 4; evidently, the scene was simply filmed in reverse, with Jacinto being lifted up on wires.

There's Only One Time Obi-Wan Kenobi Used A Red Lightsaber, & It Was One Of His Darkest Moments
Image
Obi-Wan Kenobi wielded a red lightsaber in The Clone Wars, showcasing his darkest moment and personal vendetta against Darth Maul. Kenobi's unbalanced anger and frustration against Maul led to one of his cruelest victories, leaving Maul and Savage to die in space. The epic red lightsaber duel in The Clone Wars highlights Kenobi's struggle with darkness and the consequences of his personal vendetta.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars has some of the best lightsaber duels in all of Star Wars, and one of those saw Obi-Wan Kenobi using a red lightsaber in one of his darkest moments. While The Clone Wars is technically a childrens show, theres no doubt that there are many themes and story arcs that could be considered a bit dark. Many of these instances revolve around the return of Darth Maul in The Clone Wars season 3.

Warner Bros. Cancels Release for Raunchy Animated Film From Genndy Tartakovsky
Image
Warner Bros. has officially passed on Fixed, Genndy Tartakovsky's high-concept adult romp, to the animation department. This marked the second time in recent months that Warner Bros, under CEO David Zaslav, had shelved a finished animated project after announcing no one would be seeing Coyote vs. Acme.

Fixed is an adult-oriented comedy surrounding a dog whose life is focused on a "ballsack bucket list," adding to the very concept-driven appeal one would imagine this project possesses. It was produced by the same studio that made popular titles for this year, like Vivo and The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Sony Pictures Animation. Even though the film has an intriguing premise and comes from the proven mind of Tartakovsky, Warner Bros. has opted not to release the feature. Instead, Sony Pictures Animation reportedly retook the distribution rights, and the movie is again afoot to find another home, with Netflix said to be among the leading suitors.

Warner Bros. Scraps Release of Animation Legend's New Film
Image
Warner Bros. pulls plug on releasing adult animated film "Fixed" by Genndy Tartakovsky, opts to sell to Sony Pictures for distribution. Despite Tartakovsky's impressive resume, new Warner Bros. leadership seems to be abandoning the studio's Cartoon Network legacy. Sony Pictures Animation now has the option to sell "Fixed" to other distributors or pursue a streaming release.

Warner Bros. has scrapped plans to distribute Fixed, an adult animated film from the mind of Hotel Transylvania director and Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky. Fixed follows Bull (Adam DeVine), a bloodhound who learns he is about to be fixed and goes on a wild adventure before he loses part of himself. The cast includes Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Beck Bennett, River Gallo, Bobby Moynihan, Michelle Buteau, and Fred Armisen. It would be one of the biggest adult-oriented animated films to get a theatrical release, but that is no longer happening.

Warner Bros. neuters Genndy Tartakovsky’s animated film Fixed to save cash while Sony retains the rights
Image
Warner Bros. is snipping Genndy Tartakovsky‘s animated feature, Fixed, as part of a cost-cutting measure, as the studio has been doing recently. While WB is known for shelving projects fans want to see, the decision to scrap Tartakovsky’s Fixed is baffling. Tartakovsky is by many measures one of Cartoon Network’s premiere contributors, with hits like Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Primal to his name. Tartakovsky is also one of the driving forces behind the Hotel Transylvania film series, which has done well for Sony with four films of varying success in the franchise.

Fixed‘s distribution rights will revert to Sony Pictures Animation, with the studio looking for new distribution. Fixed follows Bull, a bloodhound who embarks on a bucket list-type adventure after discovering he will be neutered. Adam Devine voices Bull, with Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Bobby Moynihan, Fred Armisen, Beck Bennett,...

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Adult Animated Movie ‘Fixed’ Won’t Be Released By Warners; Sony Looking For New Buyer
Image
Deadline has confirmed that Warner Bros won’t be releasing Genndy Tartakovsky’s adult animated title Fixed. This the second animated movie after Coyote Vs. Acme that the David Zaslav-led administration at the studio has casted aside.

The movie reportedly centers around a canine’s ballsack bucket list.

Sony Pictures Animation made the movie, and they’re taking back distribution rights in hopes of the pic finding a new home. Netflix, a buyer of Sony Pictures Animation fare Vivo and The Mitchells vs. The Machines is one possible contender.

Tartakovsky has had a long run at Warner Bros, specifically Cartoon Network with hits such as Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars. He has a multi-year exclusive deal with Cartoon Network Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. The filmmaker has also been big for Sony having delivered three of their Hotel Transylvania pics which minted close to $1.4 billion at the global box office.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Animated Movie ‘Fixed’ Dropped by Warner Bros. In Cost-Saving Move, Returned to Sony
Image
Warner Bros./New Line is no longer releasing Sony Pictures Animation’s “Fixed,” an adult animated comedy from writer/director Genndy Tartakovsky, Variety has learned. The distribution rights are back with Sony Pictures Animation, which is looking at a new distribution plan for the film.

Warner Bros. Discovery dropping a Tartakovsky animated title is shocking, as he is probably the biggest star to come from the company’s Cartoon Network system and was integral in its early and long-term success, having created “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Samurai Jack,” “Star Wars: Clone Wars,” and “Primal.” He also produced “The Powerpuff Girls.” In 2022, Tartakovsky signed an exclusive, multi-year, cross-studio overall deal with Cartoon Network Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.

He has also been a significant figure for Sony. The first three “Hotel Transylvania” films, all directed by Tartakovsky and produced by the company, have grossed $1.38 billion globally.

“Fixed” follows Bull, a bloodhound who embarks...

Star Wars: 10 Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels That Totally Rival The Movies
Image
Lightsaber battles in The Clone Wars are iconic and feature characters not seen in the prequel trilogy. Ahsoka & Luminara battle Asajj Ventress; Kit Fisto outmaneuvers Grievous in foggy environment. Obi-Wan faces Darth Maul & Savage Opress alone; Ahsoka vs. Maul fight is one of the best in Star Wars.

One of the most iconic parts of Star Wars is the lightsaber battles, but the fights in Star Wars: The Clone Wars often go underrepresented. Every Star Wars fan remembers great fights such as the Duel of the Fates that occurred on Naboo, but not everyone has spent time watching through The Clone Wars - and they're missing out on some of the greatest lightsaber duels in the entire franchise. There aren't a small number of these great fights either, with them happening quite often throughout the show.

Not only are these fights spectacular to watch, but they also involve characters who...

All 13 Force Powers Anakin Skywalker Possesses (In Canon & Legends)
Image
Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, was created by midi-chlorians without a father in both Legends and modern canon timelines. Anakin excelled in telekinesis, speed, jump, reflexes, enhanced strength, sense, visions, mind trick, choke, scream, barrier, and ghost powers. Anakin seldom used Jedi Mind Tricks, struggled with beast control, and utilized the Force barrier to protect Chancellor Palpatine against the Zillo Beast.

Anakin Skywalker is one of the Star Wars galaxys most powerful characters, using a variety of Force powers throughout both the modern canon and the original Legends continuity. Before his tragic turn to the dark side, Anakin was an exceptional albeit volatile member of the Jedi Order whose mysterious origin and astounding aptitude for using the Force led many to believe he was the prophesized Chosen One. Although the prophecy turned out to be true, Skywalker doomed himself and the Jedi Order by becoming the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The Correct Order To Watch The Hotel Transylvania Movies
Image
Even if you don't know the name Genndy Tartakovsky, chances are high that if you watched cartoons in the '90s or '00s, you've seen his work. "Dexter's Laboratory" kickstarted the reign of Cartoon Network by becoming the first so-called "Cartoon Cartoon," while "Samurai Jack" is one of the most influential cartoons from the '00s thanks to Tartakovsky's eye for dynamic action and understanding of the importance of silence in storytelling. Even his "Star Wars: Clone Wars" micro-series continues to influence "Star Wars" to this day. And outside of animation, Tartakovsky helped save the action scenes in "Iron Man 2."

In 2012, Tartakovsky made his feature film debut with "Hotel Transylvania," a movie that brought together classic Universal Monsters and reimagined them into a fun animated movie for all ages seen from the eyes of a human who falls in love with Dracula's daughter. It was a monster movie...

“I wouldn’t go back”: It’s Not George Lucas We Should be Mourning, The Greatest Star Wars Director Whose Work Disney Decanonized Won’t Ever Return
Image
There is little doubt about the fact that Genndy Tartakovsky is an animation genius. From the greatest hits of most millennial childhoods to critically acclaimed adult animated shows like Primal, Tartakovsky’s footprint on the industry and popular culture is undeniable as it is evergreen.

Gendy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars || Lucasfilm

Tartakovsky’s 2003 offering that depicted the Clone Wars preceded the CGI show by about five years and covered some of the greatest hits of Anakin’s time as a Padawan, and his ascension to Jedi knighthood. However, despite how brilliant the series was, its removal from the Star Wars canon probably caused Tartakovsky to declare that he would never be returning to the IP.

Gendy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars was erased by Dave Filoni’s The Clone Wars Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars || Disney
