Meet Craig Waterman, the world’s most socially awkward suburbanite. The fact that he’s played by Tim Robinson — co-creator of the brilliant sketch show-slash-meme-generator I Think You Should Leave — tells you everything you need to know from the jump. Craig’s wife Tami (Kate Mara), a cancer survivor clearly still in love with her firefighter ex-boyfriend, is perpetually embarrassed by him. Though to be fair, her husband has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Talking to her support group, Tami confesses her fear that...

One of Paul Rudd's most memorable movie roles nearly didn't happen. On the latest episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the actor recalled his audition for Amy Heckerling's Clueless, where he was asked to read for the part of Josh Lucas, and how a spontaneous decision could have cost him his big break. After the audition, Rudd dramatically changed his appearance by chopping his long locks down to a buzz cut, which came as a shock to the director, who was considering offering him the role before seeing the haircut. Ugh! As if!
"I wasn't thinking about it, [and] I was walking past a barbershop and I went in and said, 'Just buzz my head,'" Rudd revealed. "A week later, I went into a restaurant and Amy Heckerling, who directed the movie, was eating there. She looked at me and froze, and she goes, 'What did you do?...

It’s another year full of historic film anniversaries. If you love romantic comedies and were a 90s teen, then Clueless was most likely watched on repeat in your friend group. The Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd flick turns 30 in 2025. A sequel series has already been announced to be in the works at Peacock, but now Funko has joined in on the nostalgic party with new Pops based on the classic coming-of-age story.
There are four figures in Funko's Clueless anniversary Pop set. This includes Cher (Sliverstone) in her red dress from the poster, Dionne (Stacey Dash), and Tai (Brittany Murphy). However, there's also an additional Cher in her iconic plaid yellow outfit with her famous catchphrase “As If!” in a speech bubble above the figure. Cher now joins other beloved comedies like Mean Girls in that quotable Pop sub-series. Each figure will retail for $16.99 Usd.

Stephen Colbert and Will Ferrell Rickrolled viewers of The Late Show during a chaotic edition of the “The Colbert Questionert” on Tuesday night’s (April 29) show. Ferrell joined the show to participate in the popular segment, which sees Colbert asking rapid-fire questions to get to know his guests better. Of course, the Anchorman star didn’t take the questions seriously at all, ending with the two comedians performing a hilarious rendition of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The moment came as Colbert asked Ferrell what song he would pick if he could only listen to one song for the rest of his life. After answering “Never Gonna Give You Up,” the Saturday Night Live alum broke into a rendition of the 1980s classic, which resurged in popularity in the 2000s as the bait-and-switch “Rickroll” Internet meme. Colbert soon joined Ferrell for the funny duet, which quickly descended...

Through the magic of cinema, we can travel all over the world: Cutiz’s Casablanca, Kurosawa’s Japan, Affleck’s Boston, etc. That sometimes means hearing a language other than English, which shouldn’t be a problem for modern audiences that are increasingly comfortable with subtitles, but they’re not always provided, even when necessary (especially by Affleck). It turns out we’ve been missing a lot by remaining monolingual in a polyglottal cinematic universe.

When you first see Tim Robinson, he may remind you of a lot of other rubber-faced, madcap-furious walking-id comedians. With his grim leer, turtle-like demeanor, and eyes that pop with oddball intensity, he could almost be the son of Rodney Dangerfield. He specializes in slow-burn meltdowns, working his way up to a kitsch fury that’s a hair’s breadth from the real thing. In that way, he’s a cousin to blowing-their-stack jokers like Will Ferrell or the young Jim Carrey.
But Robinson, who started out on “Saturday Night Live” before moving onto the maniacally inventive Netflix comedy series “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson,” may also be the first sketch comedian who seems inhabited by the ghost of Jean-Paul Sartre (or maybe Willy Loman). When he plays a passive-aggressive corporate geek who keeps saying testy and inappropriate things, he’s not just acting out the standard...

Did Leonardo DiCaprio jump into a frozen water? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
While shooting Don’t Look Up in Boston, DiCaprio didn’t just play a climate-conscious astronomer, he straight-up lived the panic. In a now-iconic chaos tale from Entertainment Weekly’s Around the Table, Jennifer Lawrence dropped the icy bomb: one of DiCaprio’s huskies fell through the ice. He dove in to save it. The second husky? Immediately followed. Suddenly, it was a full-family plunge into freezing water. “We were all in the frozen lake together,” Lawrence said. DiCaprio later admitted, “[Living in California] I didn’t understand what you do at a frozen lake.”
And no, none of that was in the script.
The actual film followed DiCaprio and Lawrence as two astronomers trying to warn a very unserious planet about a very real comet. Basically, an extinction-level event that people chose to meme instead of stop. A not-so-subtle jab at climate denial,...

When you want your funny bone tickled, a few actors come to mind who have delivered brilliant comedies time and time again, but if you are talking about the big three of modern comedy, then Will Ferrell is definitely one of the guys up there. He is known for his ability to bring a bumbling, flamboyant, and unusual personality to the characters he plays; the Step Brothers star has made a career filled with laugh-out-loud moments that fans continue to cherish to date.
When you think about Will Ferrell’s movies, it is likely that his legendary comedies like Anchorman, Elf, and Step Brothers come to mind. While these movies establish his status as a comedic genius, his filmography is far more diverse than people realize.

It's wild to think that Ryan Reynolds' red and black one-mutant-army, who is totally aware he's being watched, has gone on to become one of the most successful comic book movie franchises in history. Somehow, Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, clawed his way out of a hole in 2006 to do it almost 20 years later, just to the tune of *Nsync.
The hero who can't die (and can't sit in a car silently) has created a legacy built on poorly handled franchises and mocking the genre that he thrives on. It's this wild perspective that's enough to make us hopeful for the future wherever he ends up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whether that be popping up in the "Secret Wars" or annoying the hell out of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, just the way comic book fans had always hoped.

Besides being famous for never aging a day in his life, Paul Rudd is living proof that being a terrific actor and the nicest guy in show business are terms that aren't mutually exclusive. A classically-trained actor, Rudd realized early on that comedy was his forte, and he soon found himself much in demand for television work. Not surprisingly, his feature film debut was in a comedy, Amy Heckerling's 1995 "Clueless," which brought Rudd the best reviews of his still-growing career. More film work followed, mostly in comedy but occasionally in dramas, one of which, 1999's "The Cider House Rules," brought Rudd his first SAG Award nomination as part of that film's ensemble cast.
With 2004's "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," Rudd began a collaboration with filmmaker Judd Apatow that would change his career. Over the next decade, Rudd would co-star in six films that were either produced or...

Ed O’Neill’s impact on Modern Family is undeniable and possibly the key to the success of the hit ABC mockumentary show. Besides the hit show that made O’Neill a household name, the actor made a significant remark on the early 90’s Fox sitcom Married…with Children. While younger audiences might not recognize him from that era, it’s important to acknowledge that his delivery in the show was no less than a mastery.

The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, was a clever satire of buddy cop movies – while also scratching the itch for action and camaraderie that define the genre – but it never became a box office hit. However, it found new life on streaming, becoming a cult classic, and now, it’s available on Hulu.
Per Hulu, The Other Guysis one of several new films now available on the streaming platform. The 97th Academy Awards are almost here, and Anora is the only comedy-adjacent film nominated for Best Picture. While this isn't exactly the year for especially funny movies, there have been many great comedies over the years to win Oscars of all different kinds—from acting categories to screenplays to Best Picture itself. The Big Short won Best Adapted Screenplay, Poor Things won Best Actress (for Emma Stone) and three others related to the unique look of the film, and there are many more examples that span the decades. Then there are those comedies that should have been more recognized. Anchorman isn't the kind of comedy classic that people would expect to ever get nominated for an Oscar (which it wasn't), but Stanley Kubrick's satirical masterpiece Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and Rob Reiner's This is Spinal Tap are widely...

Alright, just hear me out. Will Ferrell hit it big with SNL and has made some true classics such as Elf, Stranger Than Fiction, and Anchorman. While that phase of his career was all great and polished, the style of his sometimes crass and all-time dumb humor hit its pinnacle in the mid and late 2000s and 2010s with films like Step Brothers and Talladega Nights.
Taking characters who were fringe personality types was a masterstroke from Ferrell. He did the same, but on a much larger and disastrous scale, with the adventure comedy Land of the Lost. It was a box office bomb and received only negative reviews from critics but I feel it is still hilarious when you look at it through the right lens.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
In a lot of ways, the '90s was a true golden age for Disney. From absolutely monster animated hits like "The Lion King" to the true Christmas classic that is "The Muppet Christmas Carol," it was a rich time for the Mouse House. Yet, not everything can be a winner out of the gate. Such was the case with "Heavyweights." Released in 1995, the live-action comedy about kids at a fat camp whose summer is upended by a weight loss guru simply didn't connect with audiences in its day.
As has often been the case throughout Disney's history, animation has been the studio's bread and butter. That was no different in the '90s, as hits like "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" took center stage.

Raunchy rom-com There's Something About Mary is climbing the streaming chart, currently sitting at number six on Hulu. Starring Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz, the comedy was directed by the Farrelly Brothers (Peter and Bobby), and became a massive smash hit when it premiered in July 1998. The film went on to earn nearly $370 million at the global box office against a $23 million production budget. It currently sits at a positive 84% critical and, surprisingly, only 61% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following the success of Dumb and Dumber in 1994, and, to a lesser extent, Kingpin in 1996, the Farrelly Brothers went to work on There's Something About Mary, which starred Stiller as Ted, Diaz as Mary, and Matt Dillon as Healy. Years after a disastrous high school date with his crush Mary (you have to see it to believe it), Ted gets another chance years later when his best friend Dom (Chris Elliott) suggests he find her.

Judd Apatow took aim at President Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos, the “It Ends With Us” litigation spree and himself in his opening monologue Saturday at the 77th annual DGA Awards.
Apatow, of course, riffed on how the country has taken a sharp turn to the right since the last DGA Awards, and he gently poked fun at Hollywood for its eager embrace of diversity and boundary-pushing issues that are now in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump and his far-right brigade of reformers.
“My new pronouns are ‘We’re fucked,’ ” Apatow said from the stage of the Beverly Hilton. The multihyphenate filmmaker and TV producer hosted the DGA Awards for the third year in a row, and the sixth time since 2018.
Commenting on how many rich and powerful figures have worked to curry favor with Trump, Apatow cracked, “I feel like I’m one compliment away from being Secretary of the Interior.

Will Ferrell, who currently threw his hat in the ring for this year’s People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive amidst You’re Cordially Invited’s press tour, once found himself amid major controversy after Get Hard’s release.
Although the film, starring Ferrell as a privileged, white hedge fund manager, boosted $111M at the box office, the movie was bashed by critics and fans over its alleged racist and homophobic undertones.

Even though Ferrell did play an overtly ignorant figure in the movie, the Anchorman star did later come forward in its defense.

To say that Get Hard was treading on thin ice with its subject matter would be an understatement, as the movie was blasted with racism and homophobia allegations, which made the bulk of the supposed jokes in the movie.

For a long time, it has seemed as though there are just no good comedy movies. Anyone who grew up in the age of Judd Apatow films in the 2000s will surely have noticed the lack of decent big-budget comedy offerings, and that's essentially because studios have all but abandoned them. While laughs still thrive in the indie arthouse world and on television, it's more than a little frustrating that some of the biggest names from the Apatow era haven't used their streaming projects to keep the laughs coming.
Will Ferrell is one example. I don't think it's a stretch to call him one of the funniest men alive, and yet the days of "Step Brothers" and "Anchorman" seem so long ago. Instead, as streaming has come to dominate the moviemaking landscape, Ferrell has been spending his time making uninspired parodies such as "Holmes & Watson" and starring in mixed-bag Christmas streaming movies like "Spirited.

There is a wildcard at every wedding, but in the case of “You’re Cordially Invited,” there are two. And they are played by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
Now streaming on Prime, the film directed by Nicholas Stoller centers on two families who unknowingly double book their weddings at the same small inn — an inn that can really only accommodate one wedding. For Jim (Ferrell), it is his daughter’s, and for Margot (Witherspoon), it is her sister’s. Naturally, the two immediately go insane, trying to force the other to back down.
Somehow, Ferrell and Witherspoon have never led a comedy together, but they are doing it now with a very familiar cast.
Here are the major players you need to know.

Will Ferrell had just wrapped filming on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy when he got a call from his agent, he told BAFTA in 2019. “He says, ‘I think Woody Allen wants you to be the lead guy in this (new film). He wants you to read the script.’”
During a time when actors were still eager to work with Allen, Ferrell readily agreed to check out the screenplay for the writer/director’s 2004 comedy Melinda and Melinda. “I read it and thought it was really wonderful,” Ferrell said. He figured the process would go like this: Ferrell would tell his agent he liked the script, the agent would tell Allen that Ferrell was interested, and then Allen would make his casting decision.
“But he was like, ‘Okay, it's yours if you like the script.’”
In fact, Allen told female.com.au that he was jazzed that the SNL veteran had jumped on board.

The last truly funny, downright gut-busting, Will Ferrell performance was The Other Guys. Most of Ferrell’s best comedies were made with filmmaker Adam McKay, mid-2000s classics like Step Brothers, Anchorman, and Talladega Nights. The cast of Saturday Night Live shares a bond unlike most anything else in television. The small group of performers spend countless hours together in pursuit of comedy. So when SNL fired one cast member in the '90s, it was no surprise to hear a couple of his colleagues took a stand.
Chris Parnell has the distinct honor of being fired from Saturday Night Live twice. The first came in 2001 after he joined the cast in 1998. SNL brought Parnell back halfway through the next season only to show him the door again in 2006.
The first firing came as a bit of a shock to Parnell. He thought he was hitting his stride, but his clashes with Lorne Michaels didn't help his case. He learned in the summer of 2001 that Michaels and SNL chose not to renew his contract.

Peacock just released SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, a brand-new docuseries detailing the incredible 50-year-long history of Saturday Night Live, one of the longest-running TV shows of all time. SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night is among the multiple specials about SNL's 50th anniversary releasing in January and February of this year, along with Ladies & Gentlemen ... 50 Years of SNL Music and SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
Perhaps because the other two specials have such specific focuses, or perhaps because of the title of this special, many were expecting SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night to cover some of the thornier parts of SNL's long history, including controversies, secrets, and surprises. Although SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night was ultimately much more a celebration of the show's legacy than an unveiling of SNL's scandals, here are the 10 most shocking details from SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night.

Disney’s planned Tangled live-action remake may have found the perfect actress to play Mother Gothel! Here’s what we know!
Like it or not, Disney’s live-action remakes aren’t going away. The company seems obsessed with making a live-action version of just about every major animated movie in its catalog. It’s not just the classics like Snow White, The Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast either.

Will Ferrell turned heads at the end of 2024 when the actor appeared at a Los Angeles Kings NHL game as one of his most beloved characters, Buddy the Elf. Although he looked a little worse for wear at the Dec. 29, 2024, hockey game than he did in the 2003 movie, Elf, with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and a five o’clock shadow, Ferrell was instantly recognizable as Buddy. Now, per Variety, the actor is opening up about the viral stunt.

The Holidays are always a special time to watch Christmas movies and TV specials to help get in the spirit. One of the more beloved films was Elf, the 2003 Will Ferrell-led holiday comedy directed by Jon Favreau and co-starring a who's who of supporting actors. And just a few weeks ago, in what could have been a touching Christmas gift to fans, ended up being a hilarious viral moment at an LA Kings hockey game: Ferrell dressed as Buddy the Elf, but looking disheveled and "smoking" a (candy) cigarette while drinking a beer.
Buddy The Elf Is Officially In #Hockeywood 📠pic.twitter.com/CYudAwXVvo— LA Kings (@LAKings) December 30, 2024
While quite surprising and funny, there were questions about why Ferrell returned as Buddy, but not in a long-hoped-for sequel. Was the star promoting something? Sadly, that is usually the case when an actress or actor reprises a beloved character.

From ‘Superbad’ to ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin,’ these Apatow hits still hold up.
One of the big reasons I wanted to get into writing movies is because of Judd Apatow. His comedies are more than just funny – they’re heartfelt and genuine, with imperfect characters doing their best to get on with it. He helped popularize the “antihero” protagonist (Seth Rogan is a good example). How funny is 2025 going to be?
Last year wasn’t great for comedies, with movies like The Fall Guy and If failing at the box office. Could 2025 be a rebound? It’s possible, which inspired me to put together a list of the 10 comedies I’m most intrigued to see this year. Some are much-awaited sequels to beloved movies. Others are daring swings by acclaimed indie directors. And one of them features Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd at odds. Clearly, there’s something for everyone in 2025.
I organized my picks by release date, putting movies that don’t yet have a fixed spot on the calendar at the end in alphabetical order. But, as always, it’s a roll of the dice when you’re putting together a guide like this. I haven’t seen any of these movies, so I’m really just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

The Killer, Gone Girl, Se7en, and Alien 3 prove David Fincher's mastery of the slow-burn movie. He explained why he did the same with Zodiac's decades-spanning story.
Director David Fincher didn't want to make "another Se7en" when he pitched Zodiac to studio executives. The latter didn't like Fincher's concept at the outset. "I remember when we showed the film to Warner Brothers and they were like, 'This isn't Se7en.' I was like, 'Oh boy,'" he told Variety. Fincher helmed four slow-burn films at that point; Zodiac shared Se7en's story beats but belonged to different subgenres. "I don't even know if Zodiac really is a, I mean, certainly it's about a serial killer, but it's really, it's a newspaper movie at its marrow," he confirmed.

Anchorman is easily one of the most iconic and beloved comedies of the 2000s, with a wide array of iconic moments and hilarious characters that have made it a widely beloved and successful film. While director Adam McKay and lead actor Will Ferrell have had numerous successful collaborations over the years, Anchorman stands out as the most prominent and iconic of their works. The story of the strand and sometimes moronic 1970s news anchor made a mark on audiences worldwide, with one big factor being the film's iconic dialogue and multitude of quotable lines.

Steve Carell is best known for his comedic roles such as in Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and The Office. However, he played against type with the 2014 film Foxcatcher, where he portrayed a millionaire murderer John du Pont. Steve Carell is one of Hollywood's most beloved actors. Best known as Michael Scott on The Office, Carell has also built a successful film career with classics like Anchorman and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. After conquering comedy, Carell shifted to dramatic roles in The Big Short and Foxcatcher, earning his first Academy Award nomination for the latter. Recently, he's returned to television, delivering acclaimed performances in The Morning Show (Apple TV+) and The Patient (FX), and signing on for a new HBO series. However, his most lucrative role might be voicing Gru in the six films in the Despicable Me franchise.

Will Ferrell's Comedy Classic Is Saying "You Stay Classy, Netflix" As It Leaves Streaming Next Month

Ron Burgundy is about to sign off and leave Netflix behind. Earlier this year, the streamer launched the Milestone Movies collection, a year-long program that brought classic films celebrating milestone anniversaries, from Blazing Saddles to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, to its catalog and even to theaters in three-month intervals. Among the films selected in the 20th-anniversary selection was Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, one of Will Ferrell's comedy classics from then-first-time director Adam McKay. As the collection comes to a close, so too must the endlessly quotable feature say "You stay classy, Netflix," as it departs the platform on January 1.
