If you've been itching for another fantasy show to binge, then Netflix has heard your calls. The second season of "Shadow and Bone," based on the Grishaverse franchise by Leigh Bardugo, is coming soon. While the show's initial season left some major plot threads hanging in the balance, it looks like those will be explored more in-depth in the next batch of episodes.
"Shadow and Bone" immediately proved to be a success for Netflix when it premiered in April 2021. In her review of the first season, /Film's Vanessa Armstrong praised its accessible world-building and compelling characters, a balance arguably rarely achieved in modern fantasy fare. From the looks of this latest trailer, this will prove to be no different for its second season.
Speaking of its latest trailer, we see glimpses of everything that makes "Shadow and Bone" such a popular series. You've got big fight scenes, sexual tension, actual romance,...

Exclusive: Even before the pandemic, the foreign sales market became mired down with some risky bets, i.e. the over exorbitant Roland Emmerich sci-fi disaster title Moonfall which carried a 140M production cost (resulting in a 44.3M WW gross), and Simon Kinberg’s femme spy ensemble The 355 at a 75M cost (which grossed just under 28M WW).
But there’s arguably a safer way to make moolah in the foreign sales sphere and that’s off of YA feature adaptations.
True, it’s been a while since the grand slam days of Lionsgate’s Hunger Games series and Summit International’s Twilight franchise, however, these movies can be made off a low cost yielding singles, doubles, or even home runs at the box office. Or worst case scenario, be in the black simply off their sales to streamers. And if a movie strikes out, it doesn’t sting so...

Ellen Pompeo says there’s truth to her former “Grey’s Anatomy” costar Katherine Heigl’s 2009 claims about the medical drama’s long and grueling work hours.
“Back in the day we used to do crazy, crazy hours,” Pompeo said Wednesday while reflecting on the early seasons, during an episode of her podcast “Tell Me” with her guest, “Grey’s” alum Kate Walsh.
“I remember Heigl said something on a talk show about the insane hours we were working and she was 100 percent right. And had she said that today, she’d be a complete hero,” Pompeo said. “But she’s ahead of her time, made a statement about our crazy hours and of course, let’s slam a woman and call her ungrateful.”
She added, “When the truth is, she’s 100 percent honest and it’s absolutely correct what she said. She was f—ing ballsy for saying it. And she was telling the truth.

We’ve all had trouble sleeping, haven’t we? Thoughts that consume our minds and invade our dreams that we can’t shift…well, unfortunately for Robert Adetuyi’s latest feature film, you won’t have trouble sleeping whilst watching. The ‘Stomp the Yard’ and ‘Honey: Rise up and Dance’ director fails to deliver here; resulting in a distinctively average thriller come dark comedy that certainly won’t plague your mind and keep you up at night.
Curiously somber piano music emerges, setting the tone immediately – especially when we see Billy Zane’s Charles enter the scene. Despite his soothing tones, and romantic demeanor something is awry. The lighting shifts, there is blood down one side of his face and an intimate moment between a seemingly happily married couple quickly turns into something sinister. The clichéd, it-was-all-a-nightmare tangent invades the deliberately disorientating scene wherein we are given the backstory in a somewhat patronising manner.

Dare we say Jessica Biel looks pretty killer in costume as convicted murderer Candy Montgomery. Photographers captured the actress in a very '80s blue dress, oversized glasses and heels as she filmed the upcoming Hulu series Candy in Decatur, Ga. on Tuesday, Feb. 15. True crime fanatics cannot wait for Biel's portrayal of Montgomery, a housewife and devout Methodist who killed her best friend Betty Gore with an axe in June 1980. Biel has become a trusted storyteller in the thriller genre after starring in and executive producing USA's The Sinner, as well as Facebook Watch's Limetown. Not to mention, she's an executive producer on the popular Freeform drama Cruel...

Ever since the Critics Choice Awards started honoring television fare in 2011, they’ve had an eye on the future. The Broadcast Television Journalists Association clearly gets a kick out of rewarding up-and-coming shows for their first seasons. Three freshman dramas — “Homeland,” “Mr. Robot” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” — won Best Drama Series here before going on to take top Emmys. And Showtime’s buzzed-about “Yellowjackets” could be the next. It recently reaped Critics Choice bids for Best Drama Series and Best Drama Actress (Melanie Lynskey).

Cruel Summer has posted Freeform’s most-watched overall series debut ever, averaging 3.81 million average multi-platform viewers in its first week. The Jessica Biel-produced drama also ranks as the network’s best-ever series debut among Adults 18-49 (2.65 million) and Adults 18-34 (1.33 million).
Only a sliver of Cruel Summer‘s premiere viewership comes from the series’ live linear debut. The multi-platform totals include delayed viewing for the premiere linear telecast (Live+7 ratings) and viewership on the Freeform app/site, Hulu and set-top box VOD in the first 7 days available.
Cruel Summer eclipsed Freeform’s previous biggest debut, Shadowhunters in January 2016 by +22% among A18-49, +9% among A18-34 and +2% among total viewers, using the same methodology.
Additionally, the series from studio Entertainment One is the No. 1 most social scripted series premiere across cable year-to-date, according toTalkWalker Social Content Ratings.

2020 has been a year to forget, with everyday life being put on hold as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the world, and dozens of countries are still under heavy restrictions, with many of them tightening the rules to try and stem a potential rise in infections over the holiday season. There might only be eight days left until 2021 is upon us, but the apocalypse bingo card keeps throwing up surprises.

The 2019-2020 broadcast season is all but set and with it, several clear trends have emerged among the Big 4 and The CW.
The name of the game this year is franchise extensions. There are currently five such shows lined up for next season: “Batwoman” (Arrow-verse) and “Katy Keene” (“Riverdale” spinoff) at The CW; “Mixed-ish” (“Black-ish” prequel) at ABC; “FBI: Most Wanted” at CBS; and “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox. NBC had given a straight-to-series order to “Law & Order: Hate Crimes,” but the release of that show has been delayed indefinitely. It remains in active development at the network.
Katz Media Group’s Stacey Schulman told Variety such programming is not surprising as the networks strive for stability in unstable times.
