A young French woman rents a apartment from an old man to give her a temporary place to stay. Something happened with the last tenant and all her stuff remains covered in cobwebs etc. However the apartment holds many secrets and something unnerving is in the air.
The horror or fear with this short comes only at the end when the nature of the tension is revealed. Up until this point the story is one of tension and atmosphere - which is done very well. The actual pay off is quite creepy and the editing does quite well to cover up the weaknesses of the special effects (which are a bit `Jason and the Argonauts' style). However even with the poor effects it's still very good in terms of atmosphere.
Sarah Bertrand is very good and manages to convey the fear quite well. The African doll is very basic but makes an interesting source of fear - even if it has very little screen time.
While it isn't great, it does manage to hold up over a short running time simply by Simpson instilling a great atmosphere into it. Overall it's worth a watch once but the final 2 minutes are a bit of a letdown after a good build up.
